G'day guys, Thought I might post up a quick photo I took on the weekend. I haven't posted gear photos before, but kinda like this one. Most of this system has been purchased 2nd hand. The only new product is the turntable, but I wanted one to match everything else. Kinda OCD bout that, but it gets good reactions. Everything else pictured is 2nd hand. Huge savings. Whole system is integrated with 7 Paradigm Studio speakers (60s, CC690, 4x20s), and a Marantz SR7005 AVR. Love the emo stuff though, has been so much fun to use! The XSP-1 really is brilliant. Missing is my Calyx 24/192 DAC and Woo WA6 w/ Beyer T1's. The XLO ref xlr cables under the rack connect the dac to the xsp-1. Also the Sub1 is not there anymore, I just placed it there when I got it into the room! My god what a sub. I hope you like this, I have had so much fun putting it together, but all my gear is in other rooms at the moment as we have a few small reno's to finish off, but once I get it all back together I'll take some better photos (read: get my girlfriend who knows her way around a DSLR) and put them up, including my vinyl collection which is my pride and joy.

Looks like a nice room Nick - good job! (But I hope you've got some good, solid. opaque window coverings for the front window! ). This reminds me that I said I was gonna put up some photos of my set-up! Better that the photos and get busy! Anyone know what the maximum photo resolution/size Emo will put up with?

I usually do 1024 x 768 as when I'm on my work laptop the resolution is only 1280 x 800 and then it won't make me/everyone else have to scroll side to side to see the photo.

Okay, its about time I posted some pictures of my home theater (that doubles as our living room! - notice I didn't say its a living room that doubles as an HT? ). And because I've never seemed to be able to master the 'photos link to a URL', etc. I'm posting the link to my HT photos (and equipment listing/photos) that I uploaded to my profile on Blu-ray.com. The pictures 'flow' so much better here than on the Emo forum too, so here it is: www.blu-ray.com/community/gallery.php?member=The+Mad+NorsemanNow when I finally get these DIY bass traps done (painted them today!), I'll post some extra updated photos of those front left & right corners...

Thanks metaldude! Its a 'work in progress', (are these things really ever done?). Now to convince Mrs. mad Norseman that the bass traps I'm building are good enough looking to join the rest of the stuff! ;-D "You know, I still haven't agreed to having those in my living room" (she was overheard saying as I sprayed on the final paint coats Sunday...).

Ah yes the WAF has it's problems, buy her something she really wants, whisper sweet nothings in her ear ,tell her you love her, anything to soften her resolve, good luck... Metaldude

Yup, that's on my list of techniques to try! Actually, she's been more that fair about it all, and she also really enjoys the system (especially on our weekly 'movie night'), so I think (hope?) she'll come around...stay tuned, because you'll all hear about it once the DIY bass traps are in place. Hope they look good when done!

Mad Norseman! I love the setup. It's nice and wide and very impressive looking. I bet that carpet helps! A few notes: the side couch and coffee tables will muddy up the sound a bit. Also if you can pull the speakers slightly more forward from the plane of the TV/shelves it should help. Once again, nice setup!

Yeah, I'd love to pull the speakers forward a foot or so, but the 'WAF' just isn't there for that change... And the coffee tables are somewhat reflective, so I drape a balnket over them when just listening to music by myself, but for movies they go 'bare-back' I'll be adding front DIY bass traps soon, and will post more photos then. Here's the like to my HT photo spread for those who missed it the first time: www.blu-ray.com/community/gallery.php?member=The+Mad+NorsemanI uploaded them to the Blu-ray.com site, becaue I still think the Emo forum still isn't real 'photo-friendly'

Hair Nick - nice system!! One modest suggestion: if you could move your speakers forward about 1 foot and then closer together about a foot (or two) I think that you'd hear a noticeable improvement in the sound...

"You know, I still haven't agreed to having those in my living room"
Whoa! "my living room"?
Counter this by saying "You know, I still haven't agreed to having your car in my garage..."
Women, ya gotta love 'em. Cuz there're laws aginst shootin' em...<g>
