As was suggested, I thought it was a great idea to have discussions on these new BluRay players in one place. Would help out anyone and all of us looking for info on these products.

Thanks for starting this thread . As a suggestion can some links from Oppo and AVS be added to the first post when available? If you do not mind I would be willing to do that. But I guess that would mean adding a new first post that I could edit. I should have started the thread last night but seeing that I did not yet own a 103 (arrives tomorrow ) it was a bit premature. Let me know.

I'm still on the fence about the 105. I don't need 4k upscaling and can't see dropping money on the 105 as I'm currently very happy with the 95. I'll wait and watch I guess. Need funds for the XMC-1 now!

I understand as the 95 is such an excellent player . The added features (HDMI inputs, digital inputs and HP amp) are great but it will be interesting to see if the analog SQ of the 105 will improve. The 105 looks to be quite the player and looking at the pictures it is almost the size of some AVR/prepros .

I'm glad there is no fan on the 105. That's one of the main reasons I didn't buy the 95. Guess I'd better save up some money for a new toy. :-)

Although I really do not hear the fan on the 95, I would prefer there to be no fan. It's just another moving part that could wear out or break down.

My 83 has been flawless, but I wonder how it would compare with the 103?

This 103 will be my first oppo. Currently I am using a ps3 for SACD. Panasonic BDT-310 (which might be for sale depending on how othe oppo does) I have high hopes seeing so many of the older 83's still in use. Time will tell I guess. I get the 103 tomorrow, Then comes trying to figure out how to rack mount it.

I had the 95 in my system several times and the fan came on quite often. It did bother me as I could hear it sitting 7'-8' away from the 95. The rack where the 95 was placed had plenty of clearance so I could not understand why the fan came on so often.

My 83SE has been flawless as well . I expect the 103 to be exactly the same and if there are issues Oppo's service is outstanding. Although I do not expect any issues at all .

I think you will be quite happy with the 103. Do you have any SACDs or DVD-As? If not you might want to grab a few as that is one of the Oppo players strengths .

I do have a few SACD, But I lean towards 2 channel over all. I am most excited about the video inputs. I am going to attempt to use this as a dac with my pc (as I have hdmi out on the pc) Lots of tests and so little return policy days. I also want to stack this up against the darbee.

I'm getting a 103 but I'm going to give it a couple months for the bugs to be identified and resolved and there is stability before I buy. I just don't relish the idea of being an early adopter. So, Bill and others, don't listen too much. Report as much as you can ;D

I'm also on the list for the 105. Plan on replacing the PS3 with it, then hooking it up balanced through the XSP-1 and my XPA-1s.

I received my 103 this morning after I called FedEx and had the driver meet me before he started his day. The two FedEx drivers in my area are the best ! I setup the 103 in about 15 minutes and I'm happy to say it is a nice improvement over the 83SE.

The build quality as always is great with a much better and quieter disc loader/draw than the 83SE. I played a bunch of MCH SACDs and they all sounded excellent. I did a quick comparison between HDMI (w/Audyssey XT32) and the 5.1 analog output. The 5.1 analog output sounded great but I much prefer the SQ with XT32.

The loading speed for the one Bluray I tried (The Island) was very quick much faster than the 83SE. At this time I do not do any streaming so I can't offer any information on that performance. I also like the fact that the 103 does not have a fan. The fan on the 83SE would come on every now and then which was audible from where I sit.

So I think anyone looking for a well built and feature packed universal player should definitely consider the 103 .

Thanks for the feedback Bill. Ya, the fan on my DirecTv box and other gear I've had in the past has always annoyed me. Very happy that its no longer an issue with the Oppo and looking forward to trying a 105 in a few months.

So in looking over the 103 product page and owners manual I see no mention of IP or network control, however I saw one mention on AVS to an Android remote app. Has anyone seen or hear any more about the 103 network capabilities?
