Figured I'd point out 2 interesting observations as I own both the 103 and 105 for nearly a year. 103 in the theater and the 105 in the upstairs 2 ch room. 103 has been a solid machine but I've had 2 substantial problems with the 105. (non Darby) 1. Any cable longer than 20' and the picture either looks awful or shows a blue/blank screen. I've tried many types of different cables, signal boosters, HDMI repeaters etc. Same results. The 103 has 25' cable and picture is flawless. 2. The 105 often freezes at the :04 mark when I put in an audio or SACD. I've done firmware upgrades, hard resets to factory defaults etc. Nothing has changed any of this. I suspect the freezing is a bigger issue and will be sending it to Oppo when I get back in town. Scott sorry to hear about issue #2. I have two 105's one Darby and one non Darby and I've never experienced either of the issues you mentioned when it comes to disc playing. I use SACD's DVD-a, XRCD, HDCD, CD & Blu-Ray audio (as well as movies) and have not had this issue. did you always have this issue with the 105 or did it start recently or did it happen once and a while but is now happening a lot? have you contacted oppo about it yet, if so, what did they say? please keep us posted. It began shortly after a firmware update but not immediately after. If the HDMI board was toast, I could make sense of that but it works fine on shorter runs of cable. When I contacted Oppo it had only frozen up once or twice and I chalked it up to "fluke". I'm on my way to IL to pick up a pair of Legacy Whispers but will call Oppo when I return and update the thread. Scott

AHA!!! Found the video gremlin. Bad HDMI board in the Panny projector. (PT 7000U) I thought the problem was in the Oppo 105. For giggles I tried input 3, which I thought I'd previously tried. The picture was clear, sharp, and no flickering. I am using this wireless transmitter which I really like as a solution for long runs. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815637003Will call Panny to see if I can buy a current HDMI board for this unit or if it's cost prohibitive at this point. I do have input 3 that still works flawlessly. Scott

Considering purchasing the bdp-103D or should I simply wait for the newest products in the near future for 4K, 8K or the next best limited content display/BDP? We own both 4K and SUHD Samsung displays. The SUHD display is as good or better than the 4K (likely to limited 4K content). Currently we use the Sony bdp-s7200 and performs well, but I've never experienced Oppo though are they that much better? Oppo owners please advise why I should or shouldn't purchase the BDP-103D... Thank you for your time I bought the 103 about eight months ago after having issues with my five year old Sony BDP-S1000ES. I wish I had bought an Oppo earlier. Great build quality. Great warranty. Works well. Fantastic remote, if you use it. Beautiful picture. Easy to set up. I had a separate Darbee Darblet which I'm still using which even improves upon the TV picture and blu-Ray. I woul have purchased the D otherwise. The real question is, do you wait for the 4K Oppo?

Thank you for your time One thing worth jumping ship to Oppo is the intuitive easier to use GUI and setup. I have owned a few Sony products over the years, never again. By comparison everything is far more complex and difficult to grasp than an Oppo. Picture quality and audio quality is exemplary. There is a reason Oppo has such a loyal following. I use the 103 myself, non D version and have had it since its introduction. Never an issue with it all. Personally I don't care for the sound of Sabre DAC's having owned 3 of them now and much prefer the Cirrus Logic 32 bit DAC in the 103, but there are some other attributes with the 105 that may or may not be worth it to you. The long and short of it is get an Oppo you will not regret it.

Has it been discussed, how terrible the Netflix app looks? I went from using AppleTV for Netflix to the Oppo 103's app... and it just looks so bad!
