I've got a bit of a dilemma. I'm thinking about picking up JTR's new Horn speakers, the Noesis. I have my 105 payed for already and will ship out as soon as are released. 4.5K for speakers would be a bit easier to swallow without having a 1K bill for the 105. It's an easy sell and I'm sure the 103 would be fine for my needs, as I only really want the 105 because of the deal I got, then the extra money couild go on the Noesis hummmmmmmmm. These are the problems I wish I only ever had to face LOL

So in looking over the 103 product page and owners manual I see no mention of IP or network control, however I saw one mention on AVS to an Android remote app. Has anyone seen or hear any more about the 103 network capabilities? I am looking at the oppo remote right now on my galaxy s3. It has everything but a keyboard and a unout button. That says to me there there is a update for this. But it works.

Was there a firmware update needed for this to work or did you just download the app? I got this reply from them a while back when I asked several questions about IP control. Hi Bruce, More information with regard to IP control will be released in the future as it becomes finalized. Currently, the Android app is just a remote replacement app. An iOS version is in the works but has no ETA. It is unlikely that these updates will appear for the BDP-93 / BDP-95. Thanks, Customer Service OPPO Digital, Inc.

It was clearly explained in my post #89 about the resolutions. Or at least, I thought it was. Clearer resolution on YouTube may make it easier for my daughter to see what the finders of the pianist is doing say when she is learning from it . Again......if you have ever seen a YouTube video, and clicked on the resolution button on the bottom of the screen it will give you the resolution of that video. Geeeez, I tried to be clear in my post when I stated "I don't want to hear theory. I would like to hear from you that have actually used the 103 to upscale video (computer) and what your opinions are. My bad . You did explain your usage requirements quite well in post #89. My apologies. At least now I know what applications 240p and 360p are used on. Bill

For those who are interested, the wait is almost over..... the 105 is now available for purchase by those who signed up for notification from Oppo and will begin shipping tomorrow the 13th.
Oppo also mentioned that the unit should be widely available around Thanksgiving.

So my dilemma is over. I'm going with the pair of JTR Noesis's over my 105 I have on order. My oppo is on it's way tomorrow and I've already sold it to a guy at my work for what I paid. I will live with my 93 until I get my 4K projector or I get my xmas bonus. I feel my money is better spent elsewhere.

My UMC-1 recently died. I am contemplating getting a used UMC-1 to hold me over until the XMC-1 is available.
Looking at this new Oppo 103, am I able to use the HDMI inputs for my satellite receiver and AppleTV and output HDMI to my projector and audio (using analog outputs) direct to my XPA-5 without needing a UMC-1?
This would only be temporary until I get the XMC-1 but since that is unknown at this point it would need to be for at least a few months.
PS. I need to buy a Blu-ray player anyways and am seeing if this Oppo 103 can pull double duty in the short term for me.

You should be able to. The oppo has internal volume control. Double check with oppo.
Have not tested oppo to amps.
The inputs work really well though.

You'd only be able to hook up one component at a time. Why not also get the UMC-1 fixed while waiting for the XMC-1?

that's interesting.. which Magnolia location in SA? I was at a new Bestbuy yesterday here in San Antonio and I went into their new Magnolia HT section and found out they are selling Oppo Blu Ray players. They are the 93 & 95 models. The new 103 & 105 they do not have in the store yet.

I just want to mention that my 103 was having lip-sync issues on some (not all) movies. I contacted Oppo customer service and they sent me a BETA update that not only fixed the issue, but added some more apps to the HOME screen. Netflix, Vudu, Cinema Now and "something"Films. I'm confident that Hulu+ and other goodies will soon be in the mix as well in the near future. If I can get Mog, I would retire... What a great customer service company. And what an outstanding product!

I think Mog sounds the best and gives the option to play full albums, Have to access it via computer or smart phone.

Please use the new BETA upgrade for the 103 and 105.It works great on most of issues these players were having and a few new features.
