Many have had luck with Canare cables.

Has anyone at Emotiva noticed the sales records lately for the mini-X a-100? I would think so - and I imagine these amps have been selling fast!

^ how do you check for sales records? I would think that's Emotiva's business and not public information.

The reason that I am asking about the sales records for the mini-X a-100 is that I know it is selling well. The other day there was 16 mini-X a-100 amps on Amazon and they were gone in a few hours. The shipping date for the amps has been delayed almost a week. I know because I have ordered one. Some users on various forums were wondering if there is really a market place for these smaller stereo amps that have only one input, no USB input, no digital input, no switching faculty no fancy display and just a large volume knob on the front. On Head-Fi.org there is one thread along others on the Emotiva mini-X A-100 as an amp for planner headphones and you will noticed that just this one thread has over 133 pages of posts. The amounts of new posts on this forum each day just for headphones is just staggering. Many users at Head-Fi.org are using the Emotiva mini-X A-100 successfully to power the more hard to drive planner headphones. Some of these headphones the Audeze and the HiFiMAN model can handle a great deal of power. The headphones have an impedance of about 50 ohms which cuts the max power of the Mini-X A-100 way down to a level that still has good control range on the volume pot without raising the noise floor. Planner headphones or Orthodynamic needs some current to sound best. The point I am trying to make is that users of planner headphones are buying the mini-X A-100 NOT to make the headphones louder but to have better sound quality at a lower cost. The mini-X a-100 just make these headphones sound cleaner with greater clarity with greater instrument separation. The amp seems not to have many issues in driving a 50 ohm impedance load. Yes you would have to make some custom cables to use the speaker taps. Some specialize headphone amps are running about up to $4k like the Liquid Glass Hybrid amp by Cavalli Audio that I have heard at RMAF. Has anyone at Emotiva ever stuck their head into the CanJam area while they were at the RMAF? With some minor changes Emotiva could remarket this amp to a much larger audience.

When I was doing some research on the mini-x I was shocked how many results I found I googled it so I knew what you were trying to say. The Mini has a big following out side of the forum.

and that is just one thread where the mini-X is mention just for headphones use. I own the Fostex T50RP planner headphone and there is a company called Mr.Speaker that is modifying the Fostex into Mad Dog and Alpha Dog. No joke, I heard the Alpha Dog, the first 3D printed headphone at the RMAF in the CamJam area and they sound so much better than my unmodified Fostex T50RP. Dan who runs Mr. Speaker, he transforms the $100 Fostex into a custom Alpha Dog model at $600. Dan is a very great person to work with in person and he has a team making all the Alpha Dogs but he is six to eight weeks behind filling out the orders. The headphone market is becoming quite mature and manufactures are making more flagship headphones models these days. I started out with large speakers 20 years ago but I am more into headphones these days as well. I am not only using my LD VI+ headphone tube amp for headphones but it is also driving the Airmotiv 6’s. I am transitioning from large floor speakers to near-field monitors as I feel there are more benefits for my needs. The LD VI+ with the Airmotiv just makes my small room sound more like a theater.

I received notice from Emotiva that my mini-X a-100 shipping weight 15lbs. is in the shipping pipeline ahead of schedule.Yippee! I already have cables, banana plugs, jacks already to go for my nirvana experiment and see how far can this remarkable amp can improve the basic sound quality of the headphones at normal levels. The amp uses common ground which will make my job a bit easier. Had anyone remembers Polk Audio SDA speaker systems that have the grounds for both right and left channel connected together by using an interface cable? www.polkaudio.com/products/sda2a
There are speaker taps boxes available that are normally used by musicians on stage to hear themselves by tapping into the feed for the stage monitors so that an IEM can be used without blowing or the stage monitor. We are talking about much bigger amps than the mini-X a-100. ART HeadTAP Rolls Headphone Tap - Rolls PM52 Rolls Headphone Tap - Rolls PM57 HIFIMAN - HE-ADAPTER for 4pin XLR balanced headphones
The threads on Head-FI continues to grow.
