Bought my XSP-1 in November it lasted 2 days then needed a power board replacement (blown capacitor) received the board just before Christmas.
Had the board fitted in early January by an electronics technician as per instructions from Emotiva at a cost to me of $112.
Emotiva quote "when you receive the replacement part to have a qualified electronics technician install the part."
Switch it on today after less than a months use and no left/right front speaker and no subwoofer.
To say I'm p***ed off would be an understatement.
I'm using Emotivas balanced interconnects and also notice the XSP-1 no longer triggers the XPA-5

Ouch.... call emo. That sucks too because of the australian shipping.

I had a serious problem with my XSP-1 as well but i live in Minnesota, USA...... So it didn't take long to make things right. Hoping you get back to normal soon

So did it power up ok but just no sound? I still have the old power board here maybe I could get the faulty cap on that replaced and fit that.
I did speak to Emotiva last night and they inferred it was our voltage surging to 250v in Australia (funny I've had no problems with any of my other gear Emotiva Denon Oppo Panasonic Playstation).
Things got a bit heated then (me) and I asked for a working replacement or a refund, they then sent me an email with a rma number to send it back. They didn't say but I'd say I'm up for the freight and insurance back which would probably be between $250-$350 leaving me around $515-$615 out of pocket (cost of freight and repairs)

They sent me a B stock as replacement.

Spurious I had a problem very similar to your with my XSP-1. I live in Italy, with similar main voltage (220Vac nominal).
My XSP-1 arrived early december, and worked for about 4 weeks. Then the power supply board failed, blowing the capacitor (C3) and fuses. Last week I received the replacement board,
After connecting the new board the unit is not powering on (no function at all). So one possibility could be that also new power supply board is immediately failed. Or that the first power supply failure propagated other failures, since also in your case after replacing the power board you still have some channels missing.
I am awaiting decisions from Emo's technical staff, hoping to solve the issue.

Sounds like the same capacitor that went on mine. Fortunately when I had the new board installed it worked (if only for a month), now I think I have a different problem.
Would be interested to hear what solution Emotiva comes up with for you.
Could you post here? (or pm me if you prefer)

I had a similar issue I fixed in Singapore (240V) for a UPA-500 with a blown input cap on the 5V switch mode that sits across the diode bridge...I replaced all 4 along with the inline fuse. it was taking a while for the parts to come so I just fixed with same speck 1KV parts. maybe the board is the same for all the standby power units ... it just supplies 5V for the incoming mains voltage detection board and mains relay. plus probably the 5V for the front panel power switch board.

Wow, I can see why they call you the wiz, pity you're not in West Oz at the moment this would quickly be fixed (though I need a holiday, what's the weather like in Singapore?) ;D
As you can probably tell I know virtually nothing about electronics so just about everything you put in your post went over my head.
So my XSP-1 powers up (or lights up) but I have no sound, could it still be the power supply board?
Originally a capacitor blew on the board (smoke and everything) but then no power and no lights. Replaced with new board and it worked for a month then powers up with no sound and wouldn't trigger the amp, so maybe it is the power supply board?
I've looked at the board inside the machine and no bulging caps or blown resistors

The XSP-1 is however designed to match the high voltage and relevant surges, with some margins. So in this case the failed capacitor has probably caused a failure who propagated to other parts of the unit. IMHO (+20 yrs in electronics design) defective parts at beginning of a product life cycle are reasonably to be considered in the product series production "tuning" process, especially considering that affected units are a small %. Hope to listen soon the new XSP-1 and enjoy it again !

Hi Michele, No they didn't offer to replace mine.
Maybe Australia is just too far away.
Congrats to you and hope you have better luck with the replacement.
