Is it the fool that believes what he sees/hears with his own eyes and ears? If he believes it without question, yes. Our eyes and ears are easy to fool, a fact upon which advertisers, cards sharps, and stage magicians depend. We often see and hear what we expect to see or hear, or want to see or hear.

"Don't believe half of what you see and none of what you hear" My grandfather told me that many times when i was a child. I think it's good advice.

You are not the only one to have this happen. I ran the runs to my rear speakers through the floor and basement 15 years ago. I replaced them after 3 years as they started turning green. I clipped a piece out of the center of a 20 ft run at lunch. This is what they look like now: Chuck This problem was caused by the chemical reaction with the type of insulation used. I read somewhere.

I read somewhere. Right. Its a breakdown of the plasticizer used in the PVC - which is a prime ingredient of the insulation covering. The plasticizer stuff (its a softener added to the PVC) that oozes out will corrode/oxidize metals - especially active metals like copper... Different enviromental (heat/cold, moist/dry, etc.) conditions will accelerate or (tasteless) the process. The best protection is simply to not buy the cheap speaker wire.

Pyschobabble??? The duct tape and laughing gas might just work. Oh I guarantee it. EVERYTHING will sound so much better you just won't care any longer.

Yeah, the music will sound better, but it would be drown out by the crickets.

It goes to show you never can tell. It does, indeed - THANKS for the correction to lyrics - I knew that something bothered me about the way I posted them, but I wasn't sure what it was! Another GREAT New Orleans song, by the way...
