60 mm tweeter, 10 in full range, 8 in woof x2. Sounds good already. Did you get these sizes from somewhere?

Looks like an 8 inch mid and two 7 inch bass drivers. Interesting.

Looks like a whole crap-pot full of speculation to me. I think I'll go listen to some real speakers and wait till these new speakers have a "Buy It Now" button. Nice to know something new is on the horizon with Emotiva and speakers though. The current offerings are kind of thin. NO center channel - no true surrounds. As ESPN would say " COME ON MAN!"

Looks like the three larger drivers might be fakes and have been photo-shopped into the picture or it is a digitally created design photo. I'm not sure if the port is maybe a fake also as well as the tweeter. Maybe Big Dan is just letting us know it will have at least one folded ribbon driver, two or more quality drivers for the mid/bass regions and a curved enclosure. Hopefully it will be a sealed enclosure or a very high quality ported design (and not too shiny on the piano finish ... the fad is over and the unavoidable scratches/marks ... a more satin shine than mirror finish would be great).

According to Andrew BTW, the above image is NOT a CG mock up but a photo taken in-house.

Big Dan noted in another thread that the picture was altered to limit some of the details shown. So it is a real picture per Andrew, with some details obscured per Big Dan.
Looks to me like dual 6.5" drivers for the bass. I'd be shocked if they were 8".
Maybe we'll hear on the Monday Podcast?

Thanks Garbulky, I missed that. It must be a DO photo (details obscured).

I think it's a "Doo-Doo" photo - "Details Obviously Obscured - Don't Over-Observe." (and don't step in it...) LOL

So Big Dan Strikes Again,
He gives us a tender morsel to wet our appetites, then stands back and watches the frenzy. I can only imagine the amount of fun he has. I was planning to purchase a pair of bookshelf speakers, and stands, sometime around March of next year. I must admit Emotiva speakers were not under consideration. Now I have to rethink my speaker options. Timing is everything, so we'll see how long it takes the actual speakers to make it to the products page. I'll be watching.

I really doubt this passive tower will change my mind from wanting an active all-in-one architecture though, even if I have the XPR-5 here. The piano gloss finish is also a minor downside for HT. The Airmotiv tweeter is slightly differently shaped vs the stealth if anyone hasn't noticed yet. It has five horizontal "stripes" vs seven for the stealths. Impossible to know whether the tweeter is wider than the stealth's or simply less height.

... The piano gloss finish is also a minor downside for HT.... Finally someone braver than me gives some negative (albeit minor) feedback. Yeah, when I first saw this thread, I went - huh? When did this get announced? I scrambled through the posts too quickly and came up on the picture of the Avalon Symbol, and I went, oh YEAH now that is a gorgeous speaker. Although I'm not currently in the market (though have 14+ year old mains), I am very strongly leaning towards a real nice wood look when I finally do replacement (well, yes, they have to sound really good too ). Our Vandersteen mains are covered almost completely in a beige color fabric which though not exciting blends well into the surroundings and doesn't dominate like a big black tower would. I realize it would difficult to offer much in the way of different finishes for a "mass-produced" direct-to-the-consumer speaker, for multiple reasons. I guess what would be cool would be to have the speakers manufactured unfinished (unstained) with real wood, and have a craftsman at the Franklin end carefully apply user-chosen stains (obviously not for free ). From what I have seen though, the staining etc. is usually done before putting in the components to avoid getting goop anywhere but the cabinet.

I LOL'd @ Dan's one word post.
This accomplished two things. 1. It's puts to rest a rumor, before it becomes lounge folk lore and generally accepted as being correct. 2. He sticks to his word of not releasing any details.
For myself (and the rest of the lounge, too I would guess), I want to know 4 things.
1. Cost for a pair
2. Frequency response, driver sizes, and other assorted specs.
3. Estimated date of availability
4. Will there be matching surrounds, and a center channel to follow? For me, bookshelves aren't a real need, but I understand that a pair of them in the lineup would be a necessity. A lot of people prefer bookshelves to either full towers, or like direct radiating speakers as surrounds for listening to multi-channel music.
I know these details will probably not be coming soon, but it doesn't hurt to hope they will come out in tomorrows podcast! LOL!

What the heck - Speculation is FUN! So here's mine:
1. Cost for a pair = $1,200 +/- 20%, although Dan may surprise us with a $999 intro price (limited time)
2. FR = From 39-45 Hz bottom end to 20K - Driver sizes - two 7" woofers + a large midrange ribbon + a "normal sized" tweeter ribbon - Height = 35" tall by 9.5" wide by 12" deep - Sensitivity = 89dB / 1w / 1m
3. Availability = May, 2014
4. Surrounds, center channel, & at least two subs to quickly follow
If I get ANY of these right, I'll be proud of myself. If I get ALL of these right, I'm buying a lottery ticket! LOL
