Agreed, pedrocols - Chuckienut agrees with us too, as does Garbulky. We all seem to be on the same page, just reading it slightly differently.

The members in this forum are greatly knowledgeable, including yourself Sir, and we should utilize that knowledge wisely to his or her benefit and enjoyment. With great knowledge comes great responsibility....

They are great speakers ya'll. Chuckie, I get where you are coming from but truth be told you purchased your speakers for far less than he did his and you probably would like yours more. WIN! N8, they are fantastic speakers and in my less than perfect room, my system sounds better to us than the IMAX down the road. The new subs helped alot, but my 6.3s shine. Probably not in 1,000 sq. ft. There are better speakers, but putting them in a 1,000 sq. ft. room at "reference levels" really just isn't what they were made for. Peace! I 100% agree they are probably great in your room, they just were not in the room they were in when I heard them and although Chuckie thinks this is a direct insult at Emotiva and Him, its not. Just what I thought of them.

Gentlemen, jabs and comments have been made towards each other and are not necessary to get your point across. Let's leave the personal attacks and comments out of this please.

Oh and Chuckie, when I said the xovers were set at 80hz, I set them there manually after calibration. Audysseys internal filters are uneffected but manual xover change, you still keep the calibration audyssey gives you regardless of what settings you change after the fact, they end user cannot change the internal calibration.
I was just re-reading some posts and saw you thought audyssey set all the overs to 80hz.

I don't think that there are many consumer fulll-range speakers that are built to envelop a 1000 sq ft space or room in undistorted sound. Therefore, most speakers would be straining to do so at any appreciable level. So N8DOGG could have truly heard the Emo speakers sounding very poorly in that space. Alternately. Chuckie does have a wonderful set up in a space tailor made for the speakers and, therefore, he is hearing angels sing live as he puts these speakers through their paces. That said, I totally agree with how both gentlemen described the sound they heard. However, denouncing the speakers without offering a rationale is unfortunate. Denouncing it that way on the manufacturer's forum is a little bit worse. If you are a guest at my home, and you chose to tell my wife that her cooking 'stinks' I am likely to throw you out of my home for disrespecting my wife with a few of your teeth left on the floor for good measure. It is responsible speech and not free speech that is appropriate in the private domain. My additional $0.02. Peace

The saying goes "horses for courses" and my view is that it is incumbent on a reviewer to quantify the "course" especially so when it is unusual, as it is in this case. Even a few word comment is "a review" especially when it is either highly critical or highly praising for a well known piece of equipment. It has to be put in context and the environment is a rather important context for speakers. My view in this instance is that the speakers were being asked to operate in an environment that they were not engineered to operate. That would have been my comment, at the very least I would have prefixed any other comments with that. To do otherwise would I consider to be both discourteous and disingenuous to the readers.
Cheers Gary

Peace Currently there is a thread denouncing Bose speakers and nobody seem to be bothered by it. The fact that you like your wife's cooking does not mean I will like it and that is also okay even if I tell you that in your own home. I am sure if you go to any restaurant and you tell the waitress you did not like the food, they will try to make the food better and won't throw me out the restaurant with a black eye. Now; can we get back on topic so I can learn something useful please.... ?

That thread about Bose speakers is a violation of forum rules (not bashing other manufacturer's products). However, comparing your behavior at a restaurant and at a private home as without distinction is ridiculous. My home does not cater to public eating. There is no charge for what you consume. You are not a paying customer. I cannot control your behavior, but I control my fists. Think etiquette and common courtesy.
That said, what would you be looking for in an Emotiva subwoofer?

Don't you worry about it because if your wife is a bad cook everybody already knows about it. Hence, nobody is going to want to go to your house to have dinner... ....And to answer your question, I think I already answer that question in a different thread...Cheers!
