Hi Guys Just checking the costs of shipping my wish lists (pair of the new XPA-1Ls ) to Canada and noticed at check-out.... duties and taxes are now payable at the receiving end, which is fine but does Bongo add a surprise brokerage fee like UPS or is that taken care of with the shipping arrangement with Emotiva? There are no surprise fees when you receive your shipment from Bongo. Our cart generates a landed cost for most countries at checkout now.

Thanks rogersch. I have now put an order in via the reserve list. I hope you are right. Is there any way I can check where I am on the list and when 'the call' can be expected? Now ordered. No Bongo. Tax will be added when it arrives in the UK, so can only estimate what that will be. Thanks again rogersch. I'm looking forward to it replacing my UMC-200, and that sounds terrific. Received last week. Some poor service from UPS, my end, but now happily installed. Some installation issues, but will raise on the correct thread. Very impressive sound, so far and great DAC.

So you say that all VAT and customs//taxes I had to pay here in Norway using UPS, is now included in the Bongo-price? So all I have to pay for the product to get it to my home is included in the cart? No extra bill from the Norwegian customs?

That is correct Eirik. Forwarders with full landed cost service like Bongo or Borderlinx charge you all the taxes/customs in advance and add it to the shipping price so you don't have to pay anything in your own country.

This means that, in Australia's case at least, Bongo are wearing an exchange rate exposure since if there is duty and/or GST payable it's levied at the exchange applicable when it landed, not when it was bought. But then again they're more than getting their fill with a 4% spread at purchase. Meanwhile, the backside continues to fall out of the AUD, meaning that the XMC-1 is now 11% more expensive than when I could have first ordered it. Oh well.

I wouldn't think for a second that they would't try and recover any losses and pocket any gains given their greed. It has already been shown that you are better off using your own carrier. XMC-1 would set you back over $3K now. Luckily I purchased at $1.05

BTW, no duty on an XMC-1, made in the USA, Free Trade Agreement. GST though Cheers Gary

Hi, I have just bought stereo set-up from emotiva which includes XSP-1 & XPA-2.
I have paired them with Polk Lsim 707 and Velodyne sub.
Only glitch, XSP-1 remote not working just out of box? Now I am not sure what to do. I have received a remote which is not working and do I need to pay to return to get new one?
Please suggest?
thanks

Thanks for answering. Actually it makes sense. If i take the productcost, adding shippingcost from reshipper, then 25% VAT and a custom-fee - then the total cost is just 10$ below what Bongo charges! This means that Bongo is just making it easier too se the total cost at checkout! And I dont need to make arrangements With a reshipper aswell - thanks Emotiva! Would be very pleased if Emotiva could verify what sharky said

Yes, I have sent mails to both customer service & technical support of EMOTIVA, but strangely they never responded. I will call them and hope they resolve the issue. I've got lots of alternatives, friends in NYC & Chicago, re shippers, my sons partner works at FEDEX, etc. It's just a pain, negatively affects the buying experience when you have to make phone calls, call in favours and add to the risk of loss, theft or damage. Just because they swapped shipping companies that supposedly saves money but actually does exactly the reverse. Cheers Gary
