Guess it depends what deal has been struck. Shipping surely has to be factored in, it won't be free to the retailers will it? They have to make a living, otherwise they wouldn't bother doing it. I didn't expect the prices to be any different.
Some things work out cheaper when importing directly, others are cheaper from the retailer. At least we have somewhere to send things to for support as well.

Hi Cathy, I am from Oman with deep roots in USA. I want to buy Airmotiv T2 and ship them to me in Oman. I have left my cell number for Oman on the toll-free number, but it seems everyone is very busy with EmoFest . How to buy the E-Club membership first?

There is now a Belgian distributor Cinéphil with the usual markup but might be a better deal to some people since they can provide in-house service.

Beginning of SeptemberaA friend and I ordered some Emotiva products at Cinephil, and after a long wait they finally gave an explanation. Our delvivery has been lost at sea?! Is such a thing even possible? Has the ship sunk?

Hey Michel, We have a Canadian retailer www.summithifi.com in Ontario that should have the best price for us Canadians. You have to call them for current pricing on Emotiva gear due to the ever changing exchange rate. I’ve dealt with Aamir from Summit Hifi on a couple of occasions ( stopped in one day and had a look at an ERC 3 . Very nice ) Summit Hifi was a pleasure to deal with.

I'm quickly getting rather disappointed in all things XMC-1. A friend of mine has been "trying out" Atmos and DTS-X in a 5.1.2 set up with a cheap Yamaha AVR and he has now decided it's good enough and hence time to upgrade the processor. Although I'm not a fan of Yamaha's Sabre DAC sound, he likes it so he went out and bought a CX-A5100. This is despite my frequent requests for him to hang on for the XMC-1, which is another story for another day. What pushed him over the line was the pricing, in the US the CX-A5100 retails for $2,499 (same as an XMC-1) but it sells here (again retail) for $3,899 whilst the exact same retailer sells the XMC-1 for $4,499 (yes, retail price). So somehow the XMC-1 gains $600 more cost than the CX-A5100. Keeping in mind that the CX-A5100 has import duty in its price and the XMC-1 doesn't due to the free trade agreement. So the XMC-1 should be $200 cheaper, not $600 dearer.
Of course these are retail prices, there is bargaining going on and of course he didn't pay $3,899 for the CX-A5100, but on a straight retail versus retail pricing comparison something is going on that pushes Emotiva's Australian pricing out of its US competitors' price bracket. This applies to almost every other brand that I have tried to compare, it's not just a Yamaha thing.
Cheers Gary

Jessica I specifically asked if you still ship to australia for a reason because I'm not paying $4,500+ for a processor that has a value at most of $3,600 with shipping direct from the styates I can not justify a street price of 2,5000 USD which is current 3,100 AUD I can not justify a price of $4,500 AUD retail when I can buy direct and pay no more than $3,700 AUD..
this is why I brought the USP-1 a few years ago..
at this stage your processors are outside my reach of and I be stuffed i'[m going to pay retail markup which is all but doubled to what i would pay importing it direct myself from emotiva..
home theatre in australia in nothing but a financial rort for over 30 years..
jesica i think you and lonie and few of the other heads should visit australia and actually look at the prices your gears and wares per retailer that sells them because aat this that stage you have very limited contact with the distribution chains within australia and i'm not just talking about the east coast of australia try coming over to the west coast you might be a rude shock..
I can't remember which co you lot brought into though I do remember that their avr's and processors tend to retail double to triple to what they worth..
to the point of comparison that at release the xmc-1 in spec was closer to my denon avr i paid 2,200 for as to physically compare it between a processor of the 2,500 marantz and onkyo and the pioneer ICE avr's which are within the realm 9.2/9.3 class..
I did not mention denon's only flagship option in this category retails $7,500, and yamaha's flagship between $4,500-6,500, and the closest avr denon has in spec is $5,000
with a note both denon and yamaha processors are over 10-12+ years old at this stage of the game..
the point i'm getting here that company direct model works better for sales and dealer works better better as a warranty repair agents.. given the price gouging that goes in within the home theatre and home audio business here I said what would happen in another thread what you would see happen here in australia..
the likes of sherwoods were once a good brand in AUSTRALIA back in the 90's until bad management and bad dealers basically killed them as homee theatre/audio specialist..

I think Emotiva may just have killed their brand ...
They started a value brand - offering the same performance as the competitors (ie Yamaha, Rotel etc) yet far cheaper. This new direct model, though, as put the brand as far more expensive than any competitor. I mean the BasX at closing on $1,700.00 or the XMC-1 at $5,500 is just a joke.
I think after my 11 x Emotiva products, it's time to go over to something else
