Most likely not looking at the $2,000 markup in some cases, looking we are paying $700-750 more than it would cost to physically import ourselves into and I can not justify $2,500 USD processor, with a retail markup 0f $4,500 AUD, when to import myself costs no more that $3,600-3,750 and when we upto 90 cents into the USD or higher we can but it so close to cost it isn't funny.. I can support a retail cost of $100-$150 of what it would cost me to import it from the states, though at $4,500 it is highway robbery basin i what it cost me to directly purchase a usp-1 direct from emotiva as example
It is okay to live in the land of the cheap and free, sadly I found over many years of importing products from the states I have found that Dealer networks are a very bad model to rely upon for a service here as it has been policy for many years to inflate the cost price of electronics because they can instead of giving the consumer a great price because they buy the vendors in bulk at wholesale though not pass saving on to the consumer.. because you would need to earning 100,000 a year just to buy the emotiva pre/pro and and at the combined total of $9,000 AUD for what is available from emotiva for $5,000 USD plus 500-650 on frieght, with the exchange as it is at the moment that be close $6,200 or upto 7,000 total depending on freight it doesn't cost $4500 TO IMPORT YOUR XMC-1 INTO Australia comes up with excuses why the higher markup is a lie.. they fools already get a wholesale discount depending on their order volumes..
the only way i would support vendor networking within this country like australia and most other countries is vendor direct, as dealer direct has major problems ..
Most of the retail outlets in Australia do not offer warrantee repairs, whether it onkyo, denon, yamaha, pioneer or any other brands you can name..

If I bought a stack of Emotiva products in the US at RETAIL price, shipped them to Australia and paid all import duties and taxes, I reckon I could undercut the distributor and still make a profit. That's how bad it is.

That's how bad it is. Absolutely no doubt . I worked out that I could have a 2 week holiday in the US, flying home via Nashville, drop into Emotiva, see the team, pick up an XMC-1, use my 25% UFL, stick it in my luggage and fly home for less than what it cost to buy an XMC-1 here. Timing it right I could be there for Emofest Cheers Gary

August this year, we are going to Canada (west side) and up to Alaska. We will also get to the conterminous United States with a visit to the Boeing factory in Seattle, a long time wish that has been postponed a number of times. Cheers Gary

I have been using ReShip for speakers from DIYSG. It works a treat. The seller is relieved from the burden to ship international, ReShip takes care of everything. Maybe something to consider if Emotiva refuses to sell directly to you Australian folks?

I use DHL or FEDEX on anything that has $100+ dollar value
I don;t believe discount shipping on things that are worth a lot of money, I pay the for shipping so I can monitor its location in transit..

Around the same time as they changed to the distributor model and the prices went up, so everything since then (albeit not much) has been via the reshipper. Cheers Gary

Ah it has been close 5 years since I brought the USP-1 though looking at current retail cost of the XMC-1 I can't see me purchasing Emotiva anytime soon..
from a retail inflation cost outside my price range at this stage a lotto win for either xmc-1 or the rmc-1

I'd like to get to Emofest 2018, but I just can't squeeze the extra time away. Cheers Gary

Hi Guys, first post, so go easy.....
We're getting rumours of UK pricing for the RMC-1 to be around the $8000 mark, substantially higher than the $5000 in the US, even allowing for taxes etc.
The company I work for is just about to start direct services to Nashville (if you're local, you'll know who I work for) from the UK.
Does Emotiva sell direct from the factory gates? i.e. During a trip to BNA, would it be possible for me to buy an RMC-1 directly from you guys and pick it up in person? (I'm assuming, like other Emotiva gear, they're dual/multi voltage)
Up until just a couple of days ago, I was absolutely set on the Marantz 8805, but having seen a video of the RMC-1 at Axpona, with a ticket price of $5000 - that brings it just about into my budget - as opposed to the UK pricing being touted by dealers over here.
Thanks,
Phil

From what I gather, they seem to impart some sort of discount on the purchase price - so, how do I go about getting one? I have seen some, over on AVS, with 40% off vouchers, which seem to be from problem purchases - not expecting anything like this (though it would be nice of course)! - But what is the best way of securing a discount? It seems very few people pay the 'retail price' for Emotiva items, but I have no idea of how to go about this. Thanks!

It seems very few people pay the 'retail price' for Emotiva items, but I have no idea of how to go about this. Thanks! Actually, as far as I know, most people Do Pay retail prices. You are a bit confused. “UFL” WAS an incentive to purchase a prepro from Emotiva and it allowed the buyer at that time to purchase the next prepro from Emotiva at a 25% discount. Sort of a rewards program for sticking with Emotiva. This program has been discontinued. Once you became a UFL buyer, the discount will continue for the rest of that buyers life. The 40% off discount card was NOT given because of any problem with the products. It too was an incentive program to get the holder of the card to purchase the next generation Emotiva prepro. This discount card is a one time use only. This program has long since been gone but the cards are good untill surrendered to Emotiva for a purchase of a prepro. All discounts were/are against the full retail price of the new Prepro. Discount cards (40%) are traded and sold on the open market.
