I know there are at least a few forum members who have Maggies, so have you found a sub that you highly recommend?
Currently these Maggies are attached to an XMC-1 and XPA-2.
Thanks for any recs!

REL for sure.
My second choice for a music priority sub would be Rhythmik

Most any decent sub will work with most any speaker. Maggies are no different. What is important is integrating the (decent) sub into the system. I can't remember off hand where those speakers roll off at on the low end - setting the XMC-1 to manage a crossover point slightly higher than the rolloff is what you should be looking at. I'm partial to sealed subs for music. For movies a ported sub is fine - I have 2 sealed subs for music and I never turn on the ported sub for music.

I absolutely love my SVS PB12 NSD with my 1.7s. A fantastic combo. It's no longer available from SVS, but it was replaced by the very similar (if not improved) PB-2000. I have it crossed over at 70Hz. Seems to noticeably enhance the dynamics of the Maggies. They certainly can play quite a bit louder without any strain whatsoever.

I have a REL T-9 with my 1.7's and am very happy with it.

You can sometimes pick up a MartinLogan subwoofer for a song. I have read many good things about that combo.
But in reality any good sub with good measured specs will do and all of the ones mentioned here fall under that category.

I have a Paradigm 10" sub and it sounds great w/my 1.7's...but it is a very basic sub. I have been wanting to try a Rythmic with them.

Don't be fooled by allegedly Big subwoofers "too slow." I currently use two 15" subwoofers with MG12s and there is nothing "slow" or "boomy" about them. Proper placing and integration can be tedious but is all worth it!

I don't seem to understand what makes the Maggie's sub selection any different then picking a sub for any other speakers?? Sorry, I just don't get it,,,,,,oh well.
I am running a XV15se ( 15" ported ) with music and it's not slow at all. Does the job very well , keeps pace with any style of music.
What price range are you looking at for a sub? What size room? Treatments? Etc? Multipurpose room or dedicated??

Proper placing and integration can be tedious but is all worth it! The "too slow" was what I was hearing from Wendell Diller at Magnepan, several months ago when I talked with him a couple of times. I have a few old cheap polk sub woofers, only one of which cost as much as $500. I've tried them with the Maggies and they are very distracting, which I thought might be because they are "too slow" :-) ....so I've been without a sub woofer for months in this setup, because I just can't bear the mismatch. I appreciate the suggestions so far from folks. I notice the JL's have a class d amp... that is intriguing though would have to dig deep in the purse to bring one home... a bit more than my target budget, but... the new e-series has a class d 1200w amp for the 10 inch e-110 and a 1500w amp on the 12" e-112... the e110 runs $1500, but there are a couple of new e112's on eBay for just a few dollars more. On the other hand, that seems an attractive price for a class d amp, maybe?... though I've only read about them and have no experience with them. I should probably search out some threads... And I agree with the tediousness of the proper placing and integration... I can't expect to get away from paying some dues with which ever model I finally spring for. There are no plug and play subs, are there? :-)

Just WHAT is a slow subwoofer?

Thanks, this Audio Pulse article is a good read... I was relying on some of the myths that it debunked.... now, what do I do? :-) It seems my only recourse is to go to a showroom and test drive... hard to find high end audio rooms... though I know of one, that has the JL Audio subs and Maggies, about an hour and a half away... maybe I could find another in the Atlanta area... I need to go to Nashville (and Franklin) in coming months. so maybe I can find some high end stores there... otherwise, I'll have to order some of the earlier suggestions off of Amazon and return them not the good fit. Anyway, this has been helpful...

PSA subs. Easily the best bang for buck in my system. Great sub at any price, just happens to be cheap. Xv15se

Virtually all active subs out today are using class D amps.
