With just 100 downloads in the Google Shop? I don't believe it will ever happen.

Dont think there are just 100 xmc users in the world, but probably 99% of them dont know about app. Emotiva should place link to app on xmc page.. than get thousands bugreports and fix app.. Looks like I just found why they don't advertise that app

Like you both my URC or Harmony seem to be more convenient.

I downloaded the Android App, but it's easier to just grab the URC, or, if I'm sitting at my computer I just use Chuck's PC App.

I agree, almost always use the Harmony, but a recent bug there had me trying the iPad App again. The XMC App is convenient for getting to certain functions (like speaker presets), but like others I've noticed that the App is crashing more often. It does seem this App needs attention to clean up some of the problems that have been found; it also seems an update will be needed when the Atmos/DTS board is released.

If it's a product it should work and be supported.

If it's a product it should work and be supported. I have three ipads at home. An iPad with Retina display, an iPad Air and an iPad Mini and the app works very well on all three. Could your problem be network related?

I thought I’d bump this thread for a couple reasons, one is that since the V3 board release the OLED mirroring is broken (examples below), there have been useage difficulties and crashes over the years, I also wonder if this app is getting any attention and whether it will be supported on the XMC-1 w/Upgrades, the XMC-2, and the RMC-1. I know most people have other ways to control their XMC-1’s (and the rest of their system), but I still use the XMC App to augment my control options. I find adjusting the trims easier on the App’s large iPad layout — and I get to see their current state, I like using the Zone 2 volume to control all of my Zones when I’m outside, I often check the display for what type of Audio signal is being received and how it’s being processed (granted I can get that from the info button, but everyone in the room has to watch with me). I use other features too, and just find this app a handy addition to my system and I’d like to see it continue. Now, I don’t expect this to be at the top of everyone’s list, but I’d like to know if it’s anywhere on anyone’s list? Is Richard Lesniak still around? Does the code belong to him or Emotiva? Could someone else take over the development and support of this App? Again, I know it’s not a priority, but I’d like to see it stay alive, and get better. Here’s what’s not working with the display, the first shot it the actual XMC-1’s display, the second the OSD (which agrees), the third Is the display portion of the App (see the video section) XMC-1 Display TV OSD XMC App

I use Simple Control for my A/V automation. It had the ability to launch other apps from the various control schemes. For example when I select "Music" it sets up the XMC-1 and then launched the Roon remote app by calling "roon://" Is there a similar URL call for the XMC-1 remote application? It would be very cool to have the control functions and feedback functions directly integrated into Simple Control. I took a look at the API, way beyond my skill set.
Being able to launch it would be usable, if not the optimal solution.
Cheers.
Richard.

I wish they’d just publish the code and let the coders amoung us try to build something, they could formalize the best one and make it official. Years before the XMC was actually released I tried to garner some interest in building an app, but there was nothing published. I did a few prototype screens and it died. My coding skills are long gone, but I still draw a pretty picture, certainly could help on the front end. This is almost 6 years old now, as it turns out nothing was settled, the RC was still TaCT, and the actual release was still a couple years away. There are some prototype screens at the bottom of the page. emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/438025/thread

I have a document with the network interface description and xml codes for both control and feedback, pretty simple UDP calls and responses. I can script it all day long. It is just that whole user interface bit that is outside my skill set .....
Maybe they will open source the existing code.

I’m sounding an alarm on this, something garbulky mentioned when it came out, but I figured it was just ‘lazy syntax’. Having re-looked at the RMC-1 page for my comparison spreadsheet I again read the description of the Apps available for the RMC-1. It says: “Remote control apps - available for Apple and Windows computers and Android phones. I’m now concerned that the iOS App has been dropped. Android phones have been specifically mentioned, but Apple is listed with Windows computers meaning Macs, not iOS devices (iPhones & iPads). I’m sure Hair Nick knows the difference and seems to have chosen this language intentionally (maybe he’ll clarify?) Comments made here and there by staff leave one with the feeling that Apple products aren’t held in high regard at Emotiva (though I’m sure like anywhere else there are supporters and detractors). If iOS is no longer being supported, all the more reason to get a ‘field developed’ replacement. This could be kickstarted by putting the ‘Lesniak’ code in the public domain. While Apps like Harmony are available as an alternative, it is awkward when trying to control individual device functions and it can’t be customized. Maybe I’m just one of a few who use the dedicated App, does this concern anyone else?

Rick was a hired 3rd party builder that implemented all the coding and the upload online. I only designed the layout and look.
I don't have any answers beyond that.

I use the app on both my Android phone and iPad that is also running Simple Control. I have been talking with Simple Control about enhancing the existing functionality they have for the XMC-1 to make it more like the dedicated app with feedbacks and such. They are saying that they do not have an XMC-1 to test against to further enhance it. The development work could be done against an emulator, if one exists. Or maybe Emotiva has an unsellable but functional scratch and dent unit they could loan to Simple Control for their development. I wonder who owns the code for the app, Emotiva or the third party developer?

I finally got around to installing the App (v1.11) on my Android smartphone, and was disappointed to see that I had an issue that was widely reported earlier in the thread: "I see a blank page with "Choose an XMC!" appearing on it, but there are no XMC-1s in the provided spaces to select, even when my XMC-1 is turned on."
Solution: I use VyprVPN for whenever I connect to a network, with the "Kill Switch" shutting down any attempts to connect to IP networks whenever the VPN isn't running. This apparently also denied the XMC-1 app's access to my LAN. For the XMC-1 app to work, I have to shut down the VPN and ensure the kill switch is selected "OFF."
'Hope this helps!
