Curious, why stream through the Oppo instead of going direct to the xmc? My laptop has jRiver and I can stream wirelessly to the Oppo. My laptop is not always in the same place so a physical connection is not something I want. Geebo, If you increase the time between tracks in jriver does that induce digital silence?

Also, I have volume leveling turned on but I never randomize playback, either.

I have never had any noises with jriver either...go from PC to XMC via USB. And, I have never increase time between songs...never would want to.

I am at a loss now, updated to FW 3.1a and now: 1. The THUMPS are back!!!!!! Playing DSD direct with my Oppo 95 by HDMI to the XMC-1, when I first updated the FW I thought the thumps were gone. It played for a bit without them. But they came back. As soon as I updated my FW to an interim upgrade given to me to fix the thumps they went away. Then came back, when I upgraded to 3.1 they went away, then came back and now all the multiple thumps came with them, never had more than 1 thump before. Upgraded again to 3.1a and they went away for a min. but when changing inputs they came back multiple thumps. 2. The remote control apps will not recognize the XMC-1 is connected to the network when in standby. CANNOT turn on the unit by either the Emotiva remote app nor TM's app. Once I use the no backlight powerlifting remote and turn it on by IR, then I can use either app after that. Once put back to standby, no app will work. 3. My preferences are not persistent any more. When I choose OSD red, it will stay until I power down to standby, then it comes back BLUE (should have known). When I choose to display the Surround mode only, and power down to standby, it comes back to FULL. The Thumps have to go!!!!! I do appreciate that the OSD does not flash a few times on use any more. That is the only FIX that I got that works. PLEASE HELP!!!!!! God Bless, Wayne

I don't know if this has been brought up yet, maybe it's nothing. I was just thinking that I have an earlier unit from September of 2014 with none of these problems that other people are having. Maybe I'm just lucky. Has anything changed in the production run as far as component changes or the like between the first units produced and the later ones? Who has earlier units with no problems compared to the later units with problems? Like I said maybe it's nothing but I'm just wondering.
The only problem I do have is the fraction of a second lose of music at the beginning of each song which has happened since day one. I'm on firmware 3.1.

Squeezebox fixed! I was having an issue with my Squeezebox where it would screech in the middle of a song (it was pretty random). I thought it was the old HW going bad...I bought a used one off ebay and that one had the same problem. Oh well, I have a spare for the future. It turns out that v3.1 fixed it! Big Thanks!!! Sigh....not exactly fixed. It has been reduced (a lot), but is still there. I spent the day yesterday listening to music and would hear a mild distortion mid song...and the loud screech every once and a while. I've installed a new copy of the Server Software on my backup NAS, replaced the head unit. etc. The audio files play fine on other devices. I switched from Coaxial to Optical... The only thing that has is constant is the XMC-1

I don't seem to be getting any thumps with DSD via HDMI from my Oppo 93. I don't recall if the problems are limited to one of the 9x series, as I see texthai has a 95 and has the problem and I have 93, and I haven't seen the problem.

Many members reported before v3.1 that the Oppo series BDP-9x and BDP-10x were having the DSD thump. My BDP-93 no longer has this problem.

My 93 had the problem with 3.0 but with the latest release, it no longer thumps, screen color is constant (what I choose is what it stays), no longer have issues with my STB wanting the TV on when seen through the XMC-1, OLED panel stays at what I put it at. I can start, stop, and pause at will with either my Oppo or my STB without issues. Unit was purchased in April of this year.

It stands to reason that since the 93 and 95 have the same firmware and the 103 and 105 do as well, that all of the 9x and 10x Oppos shouldn't be having any DSD thump problems while bitstreaming to the XMC-1.

If it hasn't been asked/said before; maybe those with issues should post their revision dates. The reason that I ask is that looking at a few of the problems posted just on this page maybe some people didn't get a good load or somehow loaded a beta version as some of the problems noted are what I saw with the betas that I had. It's a few extra keystrokes but may help diagnose the issue.

I'm on firmware 3.1a but I didn't have any issues even before that.
