Hey Guys, When you say revision dates, are you talking about Firmware Version 3.1 15/10/12 That is what it says. I hope this helps, looking for any answers here. I will say that when I gave up on my preference to show the Surround mode on the OLED, and just turned it off, to 0% as I have always used before, I now can keep RED as my OSD color. None of these are big deals, I NEED to get rid of the DSD thumps and get the remote control apps to be able to turn on the unit again. Thanks, God Bless, Wayne

The new 3.1a FP version should read: 1.4 15/10/20 the old 3.1 ends with 12.

That's correct for the Firmware. There are other revisions of code for say FP, i.e.: Front Panel code.

Here are the various firmware versions for both 3.1 and 3.1a. As you can see the only difference between the two is the FP (Front Panel) Version of 1.3 or 1.4 and their respective dates.
Firmware 3.1
Firmware Version 3.1 15/10/12 FP Version 1.3 15/10/05 Kernel Version 1.1 15/04/07 HDMI Version 1.2 15/07/22 CPLD Version 1.1 15/04/21
Firmware 3.1a
Firmware Version 3.1 15/10/12 FP Version 1.4 15/10/20 Kernel Version 1.1 15/04/07 HDMI Version 1.2 15/07/22 CPLD Version 1.1 15/04/21

OK guys, My FP version is 1.4 15/10/20. I am sure this is the latest FW. So why are things not working? ?? I use the Android app on my phone to control the XMC-1, or I did until this update. Now I cannot turn on the unit. Once I get the big ole, heavy ole, dark ole remote and turn it on, THEN I can control things from my phone. But all my beloved music on SACDs are setting on the sideline. I can't take a chance on killing a speaker with all these dang THUMPS. I am open to any ideas as to what to do? Thanks, God Bless, Wayne

Sigh....not exactly fixed. It has been reduced (a lot), but is still there. I spent the day yesterday listening to music and would hear a mild distortion mid song...and the loud screech every once and a while. I've installed a new copy of the Server Software on my backup NAS, replaced the head unit. etc. The audio files play fine on other devices. I switched from Coaxial to Optical... The only thing that has is constant is the XMC-1 FWIW, my squeezebox is connected to the XMC-1 via coax and I don't get any distortion or loud screeches. I'm on firmware 3.1a but I didn't have any issues even before that. Thanks...I will continue with debugging...I'm beginning to think that my FLAC files might have been corrupted on my NAS...

I've just noticed a new issue with the 3.1 firmware. While watching BD's from my PS 3 via HDMI, the center channel volume fluctuates randomly. It will suddenly go very quiet and then get louder again. It's happened with 3 different movies. I didn't check the audio stream on the first 2 movies but I know the third one was DTS HD MA 7.1

I don't recall what the audio type was.

Sorry Guys, I thought there was a thread here for problems that did not get fixed with 3.1a. But I don't see it now. Any news on follow up on DSD thumps? ? Or do I have to make an Intl. call to Emovtiva myself to get any help with this? Any help/ideas would be much appreciated! God Bless, Wayne

lets just say DSD still hasissues...certainly with OPPO players like 103/105 players. if I on or off my TV while playing its nasty pops and thumps. playing a NON DSD cd / bluray etc has no issues with the same setup. I have yet to try something like JRiver to see if it will act up, but as I am overseas for the next 2 weeks thats a while off. Maybe this thread? emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/44359/xmc-1-list-new-issues?page=4&scrollTo=773090

I have had no problems with thumps playing DSD through my Oppo 103. I don't have the TV on when doing so. My XMC-1 is fully on along with my XPA-5 and Oppo. No noises. Smooth as silk.

Yes, Geebo, I did a factory reset, powered down and back up, nothing helps. I now have multiple thumps where before it was only a single loud thump. These might be loud too, I have the volume turned right down so I don't do any damage to my speakers. Thanks, God Bless, Wayne

For all of you Oppo Thumpers out there. There is an update Nov 6 out for the Oppos that may help. If that doesn't help, try this. Go in to the Menu of your Oppo, go to Audio settings, select SACD and change the output to PCM, no thumps any more, and you will be able to use DIRAC to play your SACD's. IMO with DIRAC the SACD's sounds much better than straight SACD with no room correction. You get the best of both worlds this way.
