Just saw the announcement over on AVS:
Emersa EMP-1 (MSRP: $899): This full 7.1 channel preamp processor with unbalanced analog outputs plus balanced subwoofer output, has built-in Bluetooth connectivity, Dirac Live ™ room correction, USB DAC, and an Ethernet remote control option. The EMP-1 features an elegant aluminum chassis and includes a machined aluminum infrared remote control.
Very intriguing. What are the notable differences between this and the XMC?

Very intriguing. What are the notable differences between this and the XMC? In addition to the lack of balanced inputs and outputs, I suspect the Dirac version will be very basic and that the various components will be lower quality. This is essentially part of the u-series replacement. So it will be very good, but not great. Mark

Is there any news HERE, beyond what one sees over at AVS? Is there a picture, specs or (presumably soon) a podcast?
Inquiring minds want to know:
* How many HDMI inputs and are they HDCP 2.2 compatible? * Are the HDMI inputs full 600MHz and is it HDMI 2.0a for use with HDR-10 (not needed apparently for Dolby Vision due to the way it handles the HDR metadata)? * What parts are used for the DACs? Same as XMC-1 or other? * Is the SW/FW upgrade via USD, push or both? * Any multi-room capability? * Is there DLNA compatibility? * Most importantly, is there a release date yet? PLEASE, let's not have the same thing we had with the UMC-200 and XMC-1?
Thanks!

Sad that we have to read about this forum owners product announcements on another public forum. Not even anything under news on the Emotiva web site.

What is sad is Dan can not come on here and enjoy himself talking about all the new product ideas anymore like he used too. Another thing that is sad is more than likely someone that thinks there some kind of guru and wants to prove they know better than the those that are actually doing it will come on here and try to rip these new products apart.

Very intriguing. What are the notable differences between this and the XMC? Other than basic comments, anyone will be speculating until they show the product and release the specs, though we can definitively say ... $1600 (except when there's a sale, or a price increase, or a closeout, or B stock ...)

Hi all, Please dont feel like you are being left out. All of this just was formally released today. It got on the forums before we even had the chance to get done with the press interviews. Wow! Forum members will be getting detailed advice on the new models this week, promise. This info. will not be part of the normal press packages. Let me briefly mention a couple of things... The new XPA series amplifiers use the advance amplifier design from the XPR series and feature individual channel Class H rail switching. The new Gen 3 amplifier modules offer a significant improvement in refiinement and efficiency. It also uses a new high currenct SMPS. The power supply has significant performance advantages over our old transformer based design. It's also a lot more expensive to build. We have lots more in store for this series that will be revealed very soon. In the meantime, look for more details on the new models in the next day or two on our forum, cheers, Big Dan

Will this be the UMC 200 replacement? I expect the UMC-200 and UMC-500 are still-born ( or more metaphorically accurate: aborted). There's really no point bringing them out now. /b

According to Hair Nick, it's the second one from the bottom. The top one hasn't been "announced" yet.

I still don't understand the logic of the name. I get the play on words of immerse yourself in sound....but this sounds a lot like the deadly flesh eating disease. Did no one else think of this?
MRSA = Not good.

MRSA = Not good. I'm just going to call that a stretch. Lots of names have odd or negative connotations if you want to spend time thinking about the possibilities. Some thought the pad in iPad would be detrimental, I'm sure Emotiva would like that kind of success. I think they wanted a new name for a different strategy, but wanted to relate to their roots. Emersa sounds immersive to me.

A nice clean look to match the DC-1 and SP-1.
