They look like wide DC-1's to me, which look pretty good. Again, different market.

It appears the future is knob-less & less blue.

I think they look cool as hell and I am immersing myself into it. There are so many copyright's on names now I bet it was hard even to get the name they got. There is a leaf blower called Ego and I bet was hard to get the name for there Dacs.

I agree, a very boring reboot with lack of styling to relate to any of the Emotivas of past and present.

It appears the future is knob-less & less blue. They are 1R. There are so many people that will buy these slim units simply because they fit in the only place they have to put it. Long over due ! Volume knob be Damed !

From what I heard, "Emersa" isn't necessarily the final name. They are also considering "DIYD DIYD" so the final faceplates have yet to be made.

USB DAC is compelling. I'm using a UMC-200 and XDA-2 G2 for music. I have to say the combo sounds phenomenal so I'm eager to hear the new processor.

Trying not to "speak out of turn" here, but I can say that the Emersa line is certainly not the entry level line. Once you see what is in these units and the specs you will be blown away. These units were designed to offer the performance of the XMC or XSP but are targeted to those who don't want or need a "Rack full of gear", but would rather have things more streamlined. Lonnie

Lonnie I have been waiting for this all along Lonnie. I do not want a big XPA-5 and XMC-1. Thank you, Thank you ! Oh, the 300 watt tube amps over the other side of my room for two channel. Yes !

Lonnie So it is fair to say that im ready to build Strictly a two channel system with End-Game in sight?

Nope. We will disagree about this one until the cows come home. I HATE up down volume buttons.

Lonnie Thanks for the clarification Lonnie. I'm particularly interested in the specs on this, vis-a-vis how it lives in the new 4K universe, but I can wait until CES I guess. Not going out to buy any theater 4K TV until 2016 models are out. Given the EMP-1's 1RU size though, connectivity on the back is going to be mighty precious I would imagine. Is there room for 7.1 analog inputs on this puppy, or is this going to be another all-digital model? Even if the XMC-1 were fully updated for 4K native processing I think it's still too big (tall) to work into our cabinet. This EMP-1 could be the winner!

My guess is all digital...does not look like it will have room for analog.

Nope. We will disagree about this one until the cows come home. I HATE up down volume buttons. Oh I will not own anything with volume buttons if I do not have too. When the Fusion Mini-X came out I jumped all over Dan for that. Sorry Dan. I can only reason that it was not feasible to put knobs on this new 1R gear and keep it 1R. I imagine they are cramming a lot of goodness in a very small space and volume pots were not priority. My USP-1 has a Volume knob and I never use a remote with it because I enjoy the control and power of cranking it manually. My DC-1, I never use remote for it because the volume knob is right next to my mouse and easy reach. I always use a remote for my TV and DVD volume because it is down near the floor in front of my TV for line of site for remote. I will not miss a volume knob for my new EMP-1 Pre-pro. I got the Fusion 8100 to replace my slim non HDMI receiver and the HDMI board went out after a month. I sent the Fusion 8100 back and put my repaired old slim non HDMI Onkyo receiver back in service. I have been waiting for something slim and something new from Emotiva and Dan, Lonnie and Crew did not disappoint. I was thinking a new slim receiver on the TI platform but it turns out they did better than that. The old saying Good things come to those who wait is true. I go to sound and vision.com all the time to check out Bench Test results for out-put all channels driven on receivers all the time and the only slim receiver that puts out anymore than 60 watts all channels driven and is slim enough to fit in my TV stand was an out of date Cambridge Audio Azur 551R. The Fusion 8100 did also but I want something that is not going to go bad on me. The truth is I have had two other HDMI receivers that the HDMI boards went out and it has left a bad taste in my mouth for HDMI. I doubt the XMC-1 would go bad like the Fusion but I want what I want and that is something that fits right below my TV and has room to breath.

I just think they look like plane old cable boxes. I liked the stealth look they had at a show once. Those were cool looking units.
