Why? The UMCs and the XMC had/have a tuner... I want to reiterate that I don't know the answer, but they dropped legacy video from the last processors and I have a gut feeling that Am/Fm goes in this one. As they add Dirac and other codecs I would think that Am/FM would be on the list to go. I've owned 2 processors and have a stand alone tuner and rarely use them. |

Let me try to remember how many *miles* of cable the owner of my favorite studio told me were installed there...and honestly, many people have computer setups that render such a flying-lead setup insignificant in the grand scheme of things...plus, at least with that setup, you don't need the full length of the plugs behind it...and it's a lot easier to plug/unplug 2 connectors than 16 if you're doing 7.1 in/out (or 1 vs. 8 for an either/or setup). Admittedly, I could be biased...I built my electronic drum rig using a few (1) DB-25 to (8) 1/4" TRS cables; this allows me to have a single cable running across the front of the rack, which carries signals from everything on the far side back to the "brain"; another picks up the near side and center, and I used a pair of DB-25 splitters to allow me to have two modules, or 1 plus a standalone trigger-to-MIDI converter, etc. Even with the main cable, the breakouts, the splitter, and a crapload of 1/4" splitters, connecters, extensions, etc., it's been by far the most reliable wiring system I've had over many years, and more than a couple of kits. |

In the last podcast it was mentioned that although the emersa line is done technically, they are delaying production. And it will be shipping in the new year. |

Check out this tidbit... emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/854415Remember when they teased us in December with the EMP-1? Just sayin... You bring up a good point and since you did let me jump in. The EMP was pretty close to being finished when we showed it early on this year. However as we got closer and closer to flipping the switch, we came to the realization that it needed Atmos. Whether or not people would actually use it didn't really matter because it has become a simple check box now (meaning people won't buy it if it doesn't have it, even though they won't use it). So the decoder section is being re-designed for Atmos. Taking what we have learned from the RMC development, we are working on a single chip decoder that should do the trick. So it hasn't been shelved, just moved back up the bench a ways for a partial re-design. Really frustrating when I look at all the money and man hours that went into the original design, but I guess that is just how things are these days. Lonnie |

I just watched a video from CES 2017 where Dan stated that they are reworking the EMP-1 to include Dolby Atmos and DTS whatever it's called. I think that's great news. With that technology included and I'm hoping a great sounding two channel experience I'll be the first in line to purchase one.

As to when it arrives...nobody knows except them. They will say when it is ready. My prediction? After they XMC upgrades and after the RMC is near final. Mark |
