So like many of you I've been waiting for the new passive speaker line for a very long time and it seems we got (another) rather pedestrian $350.00 loudspeaker. I'm sure it will sound great like all Emotiva products with top notch build quality, but I was hoping for something higher end, larger that would go deeper. And oh boy, black. I guess it's the ole Henry Ford analogy here. Black is great for subwoofers and satellites that need to be unobtrusive but for me I like the beauty of highly figured veneers such as those available on the Revel F208 . I understand that these speakers are (obviously) built to a price point and market segment. I hope there is a higher end speaker in the pipeline. Just sayin'

Regardless of the sound if the new line is in the same black finish as the ERM/ERT line I'm not much interested. I like my song towers with their sunburst cherry finish. Maybe Emotiva can start up a veneer shop? After seeing the new speakers with those angles it reminds me of the F-117 stealth fighter - butt ugly - but of course - functional.

I think that other colors are a great idea, but don't know that they sell in all actuality.

Back to the volume / profit margin equation, folks - With multiple colors to stock, they might not sell enough to make it. "Basic black" may not be your cuppa (it's not mine), but until (if) the speakers get enough buzz to sell in higher volumes, it's the only game in town.

I was hoping for much, much more. I also think they are ugly. Sorry but that's how I feel. Just sayin' The color is fine, the "halfassedness" (reboot of another speaker) is meh but those angles are awful! That I agree with you on. The teaser picture looked awesome but then we got this Batman looking ish and I was not thrilled. But I am glad they finally came out with something not self powered.

I actually like the angles. I think up close and personal that industrial finish will go well. I saw how good the airmotivs looked in person, so I can see these towers looking decent. Now WAF though I think should be awful. But my wife said they looked nice so that was a surprise to me.
Though I will admit the old look seemed better. I have high hopes for this speaker. It may not be the best out there. But at $700 a tower speaker with 2 6s and a five and a ribbon tweeter sounds to be a fantastic price imo.
This is the price range of someone wanting to dip his toes in audiophile level speakers woudl spend. Excellent pricing. I was dipping my toes in and on a budget and I ended up spending more.

Hi kids, Well, the Airmotiv line is very attractive in person. And as we all know, everyone says they want different color veneer finishes, but what sells is black. Also, no one wants to pay the extra $100.00 per speaker that the veneer will cost. This is just they way it is. The other problem with veneer color options, is that what one chooses is rarely the wood type or color the client wants on top of everything else! Now, I know what there are some of you who would like colored finishes, but sadly we're not gong to be able to support this at the moment. Black matches everything and making one color helps us to keep costs down. The T1 Towers at 698.00 per pair, are an absolute steal. And the finishes and build quality are very high quality. It's interesting to note that brands like Elac make low cost speakers with very simple rectangular cabinets with inexpensive vinyl finishes, miter joints, no internal bracing, no panel damping, no threaded inserts, etc, etc. and no one comments about their lack of color choices or quality. Their cabinets are absolutely "low end" in construction, but they get rave review for appearance and quality. I'm baffled... get it? I must be doing something wrong... Or, maybe I'm not...

I personally think you have it right, NO fanboy stuff !! Just makes sense to offer what will sell at the best value you can offer. Without hearing the product, im sure thats what you ARE offering. Also, as I stated earlier, you don't know a pait man?? Any color you like, and it'll employ a very local made in America guy or gal. Ford said it best, you can have your car in any coluyou like,,,,,,,,,,as long as its black, ah,,,,,,now after a few years, they do offer other colors. Those that wanted something else, I guess they knew a paint guy,,,,,,,, Thanks for reaching out Big Dan.

You are doing everything right Dan. I tried to explain in the other thread how nice my Airmotiv monitors look in person compared to a photo on a web site. When I looked at the spec of the T-1 at 40 pounds each that tells me these Airmotiv passives are built solid.

I really think overhead would push that price up and increase returns, or would you like to not have that 30 day no questions asked Something has to give. Even offering three colors would increase expenses to Emotiva. I truely believe this. Im saying this as a businessman, not as a fanboy or audio buff.

My speakers are in my HT so I'm just fine with black. I happen to prefer matt black rather than gloss (which reflect light off of my screen). That said, I can understand that some would like different colors. But the fact remains that these are in the minority and providing any color (even from 4 or 5 common ones) would push the price up. Emotiva would have tool up and that doesn't come free.

I think that the speakers will look better on the website if they have more artistic pictures like some other manufacturers.
Actually the entire website can benefit from an overhaul. Just a suggestion
