How much did you pay for your Salk Song Towers with sunburst cherry finish? Salk Song Towers I wouldn't put these in my garage! I just asked my wife to describe this speaker in the photo with one word. She answered in perfect English: Ugly!Put whatever you wish in your garage - I'll put whatever I want in mine - or my home. Its called personal choice. And for the record - mine are much uglier than those - but still better looking than those Stealth F-117's. And WTF? Not even a full moon and everyone is at each other's throats around here. You must think I'm at your throat? I thought I asked a reasonable question. You where comparing the appearance of the Song towers which you like and obviously prefer over the older Emo ERT series and new similar looking Emo series which you describe as butt ugly. You won't answer my question? I really am curious about the price difference. I think the price is very relevant. I presume the Salk's were much more expensive which would seem to me to make your comparison rather unfair. You insulted my (and your former and current) speakers as being butt ugly. I don't think that was necessary especially at the Emo forum. My wife thinks the Salk's (maybe not your finish) are butt ugly (she didn't say butt, only ugly, I just added butt for effect). She is Japanese and knows Fujitsu Jiu Jitsu, so you better watch your mouth or I'll send her over to Uphrata and she'll kick your butt ugly ass! PS: For those who haven't been around here for awhile, understand there are a few jokes interspersed in my response to Knucklehead's rural and insulting post. We on the West side of the Cascades are much more cibilized!

This thread will probably get locked and that's fine with me since it really serves no constructive purpose. Let me just say, we all have differing opinions on our gear, both sound and appearance-wise but the way I see it, the main thing is that we get what pleases us and if that be the case then who cares what someone else thinks. We're all free to express our opinions, and so be it, and let's just remember that's what they are, opinions. There's plenty more "bigger" things to argue about, doncha think? (and of course we'll find those things and argue)

I like real wood too and have often paid extra for it, but there are many brands to choose from that can give you that. I'd pay $100 per speaker for a nice veneer, but I'd bet it would end up being higher. Then of course I want Natural Cherry, but many will want Rosenut Cherry, and some like Natural or dark stained Oak, what about Ash or Walnut, should Emotiva carry all those choices in a sub $1000 pair of speakers? It just doesn't make sense to me for speakers in this price range. If Emo builds a flagship speaker up near $1000 a piece, then yeah, I'd expect some cosmetic options,

Emotiva has done much for the Audio Video community over the years and is about to make available a very high performing speaker for a great value. There is no need for Forum members to critique them before they are even released. When they come out and you buy them and we hear them and you want to post a review of them here, that will be cool. If they are good speakers then they will get good reviews. If a review points out failings that we know to be true that will be cool too. Emotiva's products deserve a chance to stand on there on merits just like all other products out there.
Everyone here knows that speakers come in every shape, size and color. We are Audio Nut's. The people that are posting here on a regular basis spend hours a day surfing the net looking at and reading about speakers. I have looked at hundreds of speakers and thought they may sound good but do not look like what I want. Everyone here knew what Emotiva Airmotiv speakers look like and have known that the new ones would look just like them.

IMO there is nothing wrong with this thread being made by porscheguy, are we really only allowed to say positive things about a product that has or will be released like come on dude we all have our opinions and we are free to speak of them in a respectful manner, but hey I am Canadian and we are known for being very apologetic, like sorry eh for stating my opinion eh!
But hey everyone feel free to keep the insults flowing as it is quite entertaining hahahahaha

I have my fingers crossed that this thread gets locked and another thread with a different title is started where all can talk about how they like there speakers to look.

But the name calling and insults is not "quite entertaining" and certainly not welcome here.

It is not about only being allowed to say positive things about a product. This thread was started to invite only one opinion. There is a proper way to create a thread that invites discussion about the appearance of a new product. That has been done over and over again with great results here on this forum. Lets lock this thread and start a new one and I bet if someone says they do not like that the new Airmotivs are black is posted in a proper thread about opinions and taste in loudspeakers, everyone will just think that is there opinion.

So like many of you I've been waiting for the new passive speaker line for a very long time and it seems we got (another) rather pedestrian $350.00 loudspeaker. I'm sure it will sound pretty good like all Emotiva products, but I was hoping for something higher end, larger that would go deeper. And oh boy, black. I guess it's the ole Henry Ford analogy here. I was hoping for much, much more. I also think they are ugly. Sorry but that's how I feel. Just sayin'

I personally like the look of the new Airmotivs and am considering a purchase. I would prefer more full range though. If they had a bigger version I would buy for sure. And black is the only color I would ever buy. Personally I do not like the look of wood or wood veneers. That's just my taste though. I would like it if Emo would put bigger photos of their products and put them in real world environments for a better perspective on size and how they look in a room.

All members here are potential buyer and opinions(good or bad) should be taken into consideration by the manufacturer. At the end of the day the buyer is who keep the manufacturer in business and not the other way around. If you don't like someone elses opinion so be it and get over it and don't take it so personal. Just look at peoples signatures and you will not find two that are exactly the same....

Take a tape measure and measure out 37-5/8” high x 8-3/8” wide x 11-5/8” deep. 38" is 3 foot 2 inches high. That is not small.

Hi kids, Well, the Airmotiv line is very attractive in person. And as we all know, everyone says they want different color veneer finishes, but what sells is black. Also, no one wants to pay the extra $100.00 per speaker that the veneer will cost. This is just they way it is. The other problem with veneer color options, is that what one chooses is rarely the wood type or color the client wants on top of everything else! Now, I know what there are some of you who would like colored finishes, but sadly we're not gong to be able to support this at the moment. Black matches everything and making one color helps us to keep costs down. The T1 Towers at 698.00 per pair, are an absolute steal. And the finishes and build quality are very high quality. It's interesting to note that brands like Elac make low cost speakers with very simple rectangular cabinets with inexpensive vinyl finishes, miter joints, no internal bracing, no panel damping, no threaded inserts, etc, etc. and no one comments about their lack of color choices or quality. Their cabinets are absolutely "low end" in construction, but they get rave review for appearance and quality. I'm baffled... get it? I must be doing something wrong... Or, maybe I'm not... Thanks Dan. I'm sure these are very fine performers and you will sell many. I was just posting my opinion and what I like - that's all. Somehow driving a pair of $350.00 speakers with 2 XPR-1's is a bit of a letdown. That's just me.
