YES!!! So would I. Well - when I get tired of the ones I have now. I do not think you or Porscheguy ever planned to buy these speakers. It is not like buying a new shirt. There are tons of speakers out there for you to choose from and really how often to you buy new speakers. I do not understand why these speakers not having real wood veneer or being another color other than black is big deal. Both you guys have been hounding on this for a have dozen post each. What gives guys ? How do you know what I'm planning to buy? What a ridiculous statement. Go away..

I am very upset at the title of this thread. Gee I'm sorry. What shall I rename it to so I don't upset you? Shall I post a poll with names so people can help me name it?

IMO there is nothing wrong with this thread being made by porscheguy, are we really only allowed to say positive things about a product that has or will be released like come on dude we all have our opinions and we are free to speak of them in a respectful manner, but hey I am Canadian and we are known for being very apologetic, like sorry eh for stating my opinion eh! But hey everyone feel free to keep the insults flowing as it is quite entertaining hahahahaha Chad This thread is an insult to Emotiva. It is not about only being allowed to say positive things about a product. This thread was started to invite only one opinion. There is a proper way to create a thread that invites discussion about the appearance of a new product. That has been done over and over again with great results here on this forum. Lets lock this thread and start a new one and I bet if someone says they do not like that the new Airmotivs are black is posted in a proper thread about opinions and taste in loudspeakers, everyone will just think that is there opinion. An insult to Emotiva? Why? Because I don't like black speakers? What did I say to attack the brand? Have you looked at my sig? I own a lot of Emotiva products - far more than you do sir. What's with all the hate?

This thread certainly can't be a review, since no one actually has any in-home to give a subjective opinion, so I'm moving it to a more appropriate area.

Why are we calling one person's Salk sound speakers ugly? (They're not though.)

To me the color black for a finish is like a pair of BLUE JEANS. And I like to wear jeans
Black matches my components, stand and screen trim.
Besides once you go BLACK you never go back.............................

Regardless of the sound if the new line is in the same black finish as the ERM/ERT line I'm not much interested. I like my song towers with their sunburst cherry finish. Maybe Emotiva can start up a veneer shop? After seeing the new speakers with those angles it reminds me of the F-117 stealth fighter - butt ugly - but of course - functional. How much did you pay for your Salk Song Towers with sunburst cherry finish? Salk Song Towers I wouldn't put these in my garage! I just asked my wife to describe this speaker in the photo with one word. She answered in perfect English: Ugly!Much better...

You are wrong... I WOULD pay an extra $100.00 per speaker for real wood veneers. Dan might be wrong about you but not most potential customers. They come to Emotiva for excellent performance at the best bang for the buck prices. In my 47 years in audio/HT my Emotiva speakers are by far the best bang for the buck speakers I have ever owned. The gorgeous satin black lacquer type finish is very subdued/classy that fits in well in most room decors. My wife loves the way they do not overwhelm our room decor but quietly compliment it. Your real wood veneer would most likely not please most others. Multiple wood choices would drive the cost and inventory levels way up. Most folks don't want their speakers to be the focal point of the room. If wood veneers or gorgeous wood finishes are mandatory for your speakers, then look elsewhere. This has NOTHING to do with performance and I'm not doubting the value of the new Emotiva speakers. I'm simply saying that there would be many others who WOULD pay MORE to have a wood veneer finish. No, I'm not talking about something like Salk Sound offering dozens of choices, but instead, offer a light wood finish like cherry or oak and a darker finish like walnut. What's wrong with having a pair of beautifully finished pair of speakers being the focal point of a room? There is a plethora of manufacturers who boast about their beautiful speakers AND their performance. Legacy Audio, Salk Sound, Vienna Acoustics and Sonus Faber are great examples of this.

Porscheguy : I think you would be happy with a pair of these I had a pair of AR LST's. Got them when I worked at Acoustic Research 400 years ago.

What is wrong with some folks expressing their dissapoinment with the only available finish of speakers? Actually a manufacturer benefits more from critics than fanboys

Though I don't think these speakers are bad looking, I do agree that this stuff can be useful feedback. Companies pay to find out the negatives and positives of their products. Also Emotiva already knows that these people are Emotiva customers and for the majority repeat emotiva customers. All good things!

Also Emotiva already knows that these people are Emotiva customers and for the majority repeat emotiva customers. All good things! This is very true... I have Emo Speakers, amps, and phono pre's. When they showed the teaser I wanted "that" speaker! This Airmotiv angled stuff is not what I wanted. I like black the size doesn't disappoint either. My perspective is: If Emo had two lines the Airmotive (ugly-cheap looking) and the Teaser line (clean -sleek and elegant) I really would be all over it. It just feels like a let down to be baited and switched from the teaser. You guys remember we were salivating all over that teaser image - no angles just nice clean lines...... Rant over. Keep working on it Emo

Negative feedback is very useful and manufacturers watch it very closely; if I made an ugly product, I'd want to know about it. It helped us finally get rid of those awful chrome bumpers EMO used to put on the front of their gear. It's unfortunate when the fanboys get suckered in with trollbait and a flamewhore ensues.
Personally, I prefer all my speakers black. But my Paradigm mains are dark brown, a compromise I made to cost and availability. Colour and wood type matching is very important to some people, and I sympathize with those who want to coordinate their furniture. They will surely choose another supplier. EMO decided to provide a speaker that is well constructed, musical and available only in black. Is it also ugly? Does EMO need a style designer? I don't know, I haven't looked at the photos, don't care; I'm happy with my Paradigms.
Sincerely /b

Do you like your Snell speakers? Read many good things about them on The Classic Speaker Pages I love my Snells - I have four pairs of them. My main L/R are Snell CV's and they are 20 years old now. I think they still sound darn good - but I think speaker technology has improved over the past two decades. So I want to make a move to upgrade to newer ones. One of the things that attracted me to Snell in the first place was their combination of performance and beauty. My CV's are still beautiful, their light oak veneers look as good as they did when I bought them so many years ago. These are not mine, but this is exactly how they look.

Is it not a review of Emotiva's choice of speaker finish? After all, Emotiva DID post photos, allowing a subjective review of said finish. While I see your point, the review section of the Lounge is really meant for those that actually have the product in person and spent some time with said product. While this "hobby" of ours can have a high degree of subjectivity, I've personally seen pictures of particular speakers and thought they looked absolutely ugly, but when seen in person I saw a dimension that just wasn't there in the two-dimension picture.
