Hi kids, Well, the Airmotiv line is very attractive in person. And as we all know, everyone says they want different color veneer finishes, but what sells is black. Also, no one wants to pay the extra $100.00 per speaker that the veneer will cost. This is just they way it is. You are wrong... I WOULD pay an extra $100.00 per speaker for real wood veneers. Dan might be wrong about you but not most potential customers. They come to Emotiva for excellent performance at the best bang for the buck prices. In my 47 years in audio/HT my Emotiva speakers are by far the best bang for the buck speakers I have ever owned. The gorgeous satin black lacquer type finish is very subdued/classy that fits in well in most room decors. My wife loves the way they do not overwhelm our room decor but quietly compliment it. Your real wood veneer would most likely not please most others. Multiple wood choices would drive the cost and inventory levels way up. Most folks don't want their speakers to be the focal point of the room. If wood veneers or gorgeous wood finishes are mandatory for your speakers, then look elsewhere.

They're some of the ugliest speakers I've seen pics of.. but Dan says they're awesome. So anyone who disagrees must be crazy. Way to hit another home run Emo. Keep up the great work. And I DID have plans to buy some of the new passive bookshelf speakers. But... Oh well they don't like canadian dollars anyway. Hey fattykid, What's the beef? You don't even own any Emo gear... why all of the negativity? If you don't like them, don't buy them. It appears all of your speakers are home brew, so you can't be that picky about looks... BTW, I love Canadian dollars! Peace.

I like black. I don't like the angles. And Axis' hardcore worship of Dan is really creepy. Really.
$700 isn't high-end; it's a value point. They may some day do something esoteric and high-end, but this hasn't ever been touted as that so the original point is a fail; but it's certainly an interesting way in submitting your future product ideas to the suggestion box.

So like many of you I've been waiting for the new passive speaker line for a very long time and it seems we got (another) rather pedestrian $350.00 loudspeaker. I'm sure it will sound pretty good like all Emotiva products, but I was hoping for something higher end, larger that would go deeper. And oh boy, black. I guess it's the ole Henry Ford analogy here. I was hoping for much, much more. I also think they are ugly. Sorry but that's how I feel. Just sayin' A small/medium very high quality/high power handling bookshelf speaker or reasonably sized tower carefully matched with a very high quality sub(s) are far superior in sound quality to any large tower most of which realistically don't go much below 40Hz regardless of the manufacturers claims. You don't even have a matching center channel, good grief! Almost all decent subs are far better in the 80Hz and down range versus the big towers. So you don't need the big tower, get it? You like many folks might not know how to properly blend the mains with a sub(s). If you guys had any knowledge or experience in factory/wholesale products you would know that multiple product sizes, color choices and finishes ups the costs to the end user very significantly. That is not Emotiva's business plan. They choose the color most preferred by customers (black) and offer a limited size options. They build speakers that will appeal at their price range to the most (highest buying percentage) customers. Offering different colors, wood finishes and multiple size models is not possible in their very reasonably priced factory direct offerings.

You and millst are two of the most cynical person's I have ever seen. Almost everything you guys post is negative. If I had my way you would not be on this forum. You never contribute to this forum. It is always just a place for you to make a sly remark.

YES!!! So would I. Well - when I get tired of the ones I have now. I do not think you or Porscheguy ever planned to buy these speakers. It is not like buying a new shirt. There are tons of speakers out there for you to choose from and really how often to you buy new speakers. I do not understand why these speakers not having real wood veneer or being another color other than black is big deal. Both you guys have been hounding on this for a have dozen post each. What gives guys ? You might consider getting off your high horse and check for burrs. What possible difference could it make to you what I or Ed comment on? You remind me of an ex wife - she always claimed to know *exactly* what I was thinking. Never thought I'd run into someone on a forum that claimed the clairvoyant talent she claimed to possess. I've owned all of the ERM series at one time or another and still have a pair in my bedroom 2 channel. Great sounding speakers - and although not as attractive as some speakers they are 'ok'. In my living room I prefer something a bit easier on the eyes than a pair of big black monolith speakers. I hope you don't mind.

Regardless of the sound if the new line is in the same black finish as the ERM/ERT line I'm not much interested. I like my song towers with their sunburst cherry finish. Maybe Emotiva can start up a veneer shop? After seeing the new speakers with those angles it reminds me of the F-117 stealth fighter - butt ugly - but of course - functional. How much did you pay for your Salk Song Towers with sunburst cherry finish? Salk Song Towers I wouldn't put these in my garage! I just asked my wife to describe this speaker in the photo with one word. She answered in perfect English: Ugly!

You both had your say in the one that KeithL started. There was no need for this thread just so you guys could get more people to continue to complain about how the new Airmotiv speakers look.

Well unless you misconstrue opinion as complaint. Why don't you jump in a lake and spare us your bullshit? Sorry if I've offended anyone (other than Axis) - I seldom use cuss words in person or on forums - sometimes you just gotta say it plain.

Nothing gives. Black is sterile, lacks organic cues, looks cheap and is just plain boring. As "audiophile" speakers they should be a centerpiece or stand out as high quality aesthetic pieces in the room. Not be bland and "fit in". I would agree if the speakers were in a dedicated listening room. However, most of us have our speakers in a living or family room that also doubles as a listening and home theater room. Black most often blends in without clashing with the rest of the room decor.

Just do me a favor. Knock it off with this crap about the new Airmotiv speakers not looking like Salks. As you can see there are many that came here to say there piece about this thread. You may not like what I said to you or others here but I say my mind. Tomorrow is another day.

Its called personal choice. And for the record - mine are much uglier than those - but still better looking than those Stealth F-117's. And WTF? Not even a full moon and everyone is at each other's throats around here.

I was going to say the same thing, Hemster, or for that matter take them to a cabinet shop and have a veneer put on them. I won't be buying any because I'm an old croaker who has a house full of speakers, but if I were starting out again, these Emo speakers are exactly what I would be looking for.
