Since nobody has one, I doubt you're going to get an answer now. You'll have to wait until somebody buys one and measures it, assuming somebody is willing to in the first place.
I have not heard the same complaints levied against the XMC-1, but I can't say I've seen anyone run the tests on it either.

[Really, how many people are going to buy this absolute top-end RMC-1 vs. a mainstream high-quality EMC-1? I know many on this list do want the RMC-1 and have been patiently waiting for it, but it would seem the market for a more manageably priced high-end unit would be a much bigger seller - many folks even on this forum have indicated the EMC-1 is beyond their budget. There's a big hole in the surround-processor offerings from Emo at this point that the EMC-1 would fill. In my view the RMC-1 is what we call in the automotive industry a "hero car", in that it's very availability attracts customers to the brand. People who can't afford the "hero car", but know the brand from reading, seeing, hearing about it, walk into the showroom and end up buying a lessor model. They might drive a 320i today but can aspire to an M3 next time, in the interim they know that there is a bit of the M3 DNA in there. There is also the trickle down technology, where what was only available on the "hero processor" yesterday is now available on the mainstream models today. I'm sure what Lonnie and the team develop for the RMC-1 will over time find its way into the mainstream processors. The engineering costs that can be absorbed into the higher selling price of the RMC-1 are then incorporated at much lower cost into the products whose selling price doesn't justify that level of engineering cost. The component suppliers work in pretty much the same fashion, what was a high end high priced DAC last year is now this year's volume seller with a price to match. What was unique and only available from one manufacturer last year is now available from its competitors this year, and that competition in the market place has, as usual, resulted in lower prices. Cheers Gary

emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/858731HDR update from Dan in another thread: Hi kids, I need to apologize for some confusion regarding the HDMI capabilities on the MC-700. The MC-700 DOES support HDR on three of its HDCP 2.2 enabled inputs as originally stated. The webpage is being correct as I type this. We reacted too quickly to some incorrect info. from an S.I. source and some messed up testing we here that has turned out to be incorrect... We support HDR10 on the MC-700. Cheers, Dig Dan

According to the manual, under the setup menu input config, you can "configure several options independently for each input". Is it possible to assign a surround mode per input? I would like to have stereo always applied to my Chromecast HDMI input since I only use it for audio. On another HDMI input I use for TV, I want PCM sources to use Pro Logic.

What about those who already pulled the trigger at $599? You get a highly collectible Emotiva coffee mug.

Usually I'm way to conservative to preorder something, but at $499 and the 30 day trial window; well hell, I'm just gong to live a little wild and dangerously and buy it! Will be my first separate prepro. Currently using a Yamaha receiver with preouts to my two Emotiva XPA amps now and am really looking forward to hearing the MC-700...

I would like to have stereo always applied to my Chromecast HDMI input since I only use it for audio. On another HDMI input I use for TV, I want PCM sources to use Pro Logic. This was possible for the UMC-200, so with this being the same DSP platform I think it is very likely that this is also possible here.

I have the UMC-200 and assigning surround mode based on HDMI Input port is NOT possible. You can assign surround mode per signal but not HDMI Input port selection.

Something for everyone to think about getting into the minutia of this processor. $500 buys you a kick butt HT processor that sounds about as good as anything else out there when it comes to movies. $1000 more buys you a miniDSP DDRC88A with full DIRAC LIVE and the combination does UHD 4K HDR10 for $1500!! Are you kidding me?! I just wish they would do one with balanced outs and support ATMOS; then I would sell my XMC-1. This thing where everyone is so obsessed with the DACs, not really that much of a difference when talking about movies. You're better off investing in a digital EQ like a Behringer or DCX to put in the chain and tweak the center channel to your heart's content. I made the realization that consumer gear will never compete with pro gear despite having paid much more. Spend some time in a commercial theater and you will understand the concept of less is more.

I'm going to pull the trigger on the preorder for this to replace my NAD T757 that is being used as a preamp only for my XPA-2 and XPA-5 amplifiers in a 7.1 PSB system. I am thinking it will be a nice improvement over the NAD. I recently upgraded the TV to a Samsung 8000 series with HDR and will be buying the new OPPO UDP-203 when available. Can anyone tell me which rack ears this MC-700 takes?
