I just read a blurb about the RMC-1 being unveiled at CES. Is this true and when do we think it will be available for sale?
It looks like an amazing piece of equipment...

According to Big D there is a Caveat. They are missing an important chip and it will be there but not operational if I read correctly. Don't hold your breath, this is on Emo time lol

2017 is 12 months long. If it comes out next year it will be right on time for me.

Ha Ha well for someone impetuous like me the wait for the XMC-1 was excruciating to say the least. Dan has me sitting on the edge of my seat all the time. He is a great guy and really good at keeping our interest. I'm still pinning my hopes on Atmos and the upgraded board. Thankfully the RMC is still a ways off so I don't have to worry about it too much, still loving my XMC-1.

Don't hold your breath, this is on Emo time lol Not an important chip. It's the firmware for a new DSP that's missing: Well kids, We've got all of the systems for the RMC-1 up and running... which was a massive effort on our teams part. I'm incredibly proud of their work! So, we planned on having a working demo at CES, but sadly, ADI has not finished porting the Dolby or DTS codecs into the new hot rod Sharc processors we're running in the RMC. We're the first company to actually get these these parts and they are incredibly powerful. The code was supposed to be ready a while ago and we were given assurances that all was well until just recently. The best laid plans, and all that. 😥 So, we're not packing up the cool ceiling speaker set up that John and Lonnie designed... bummer. Anyway, we'll be at CES with an inside look at the new RMC-1 and we'll be showing the real chassis design to the world for the first time!! It has some very sweet features we haven't talked about yet!!! Yes, I admit it, we've been playing with you all a little bit. The RMC-1 photos that were leaked were not actually the unit. This was the test mule chassis. 😳 Remember, the RMC-1 is our flagship processor and it will look the part. And I promise, it'll sell for less that $20k!!! 😝 It's gonna be a great year!! Peace, BIg Dan Casey

Its irrelevant really. software without hardware or hardware without software is still non functioning. But if it makes you feel better pointing out mistakes i'll give you this one as a win.

You sound awfully negative... "You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you read Big Dans post below we are still a long way from a working product." Skepticism is one thing... but why not just relax and wait? It sounds like the code was ALMOST going to be ready for CES. Why dramatize it?

The whole point of the RMC-1 is Dolby Atmos and not just that , it will have more channels than any other piece of equipment out there short of the Datasat pre/pro at an incredible price point. But why bother talking it up if its not able to do what it supposed to do, its just another pre/pro. I have been around the forums for a while now and watched people disappointed time and again when Dan made an announcement then back tracked or the time frame came up short on the XMC-1. They are a small company and they need to keep the public interested but too many people get overly excited that the product is near when it truly isn't.

Preprocesses are hard. Really hard. They have to work with a constantly evolving set of standards, new formats, crazy new features and implement it all in a real time OS. Honestly it's a miracle any of them work.
The good news is that at least we now have the option of fixing things with firmware updates. And I anticipate a few ... and maybe a lot. But I also think that the gang at Emotiva have been through this now a few times and gotten a lot of education on how to roll these out. So I'm optimistic.

I think it's pretty obvious that Emotiva learned a lot about talking time frames with processors.
They haven't committed to a release date. I think 2017 is pretty likely.
I just hope people don't start complaining about non existent release dates.
I think it's time to call XMC-1s release delays "water under the bridge. "

Early estimates set the price at $4999 You see i want to keep the price at.the above price or even lower. Above that the appeal seems to loss it's charm. Dan

Casey Same here ; I think the basic modular chassis is starting to pay off to have both the XMC-2 G3 and the RMC1 in development speaks volumes for a small company. You have a low threshold Djoel ; I just look at an rs20i or altitude price Or a quick look at the lower channel models on the altitude models pertaining to 24/192khz processing :)Unless they got a firmware upgrade ?

The whole point of the RMC-1 is Dolby Atmos I hope not, there's a lot i like about RMC-1 that I am seeing but I have no interest at all in Atmos or any channels over 7. I hope there will be options for those of us that don't want those, hopefully the add-on modules will take care of this so the extra channels are only there if you want them.

The good news is that at least we now have the option of fixing things with firmware updates. Unfortunately there is only an illusion of it as the history of XMC-1 shows. And those things are not just interoperability issues with some h/w.

I wonder if the XMC-2 is going to have the same hardware/issues as the XMC=1. I personally don't see myself getting an RMC-1 but the XMC-2 is a possibility.

There will be plenty here who take the "unveiling" as a production statement and be pissed off when it is not available on the website in a week, and in 6-9 months still be badmouthing them for it. Personally,I can wait...it promises to be awesome! Mark
