@roryb do the angles on the front of the Airmotiv speakers improve the Airmotiv speakers ? No top secret information needed. Typically baffle edge treatments like facets or radiuses are intended to minimize the effects of baffle edge diffraction. In short, diffraction occurs when sound from the speaker cones transitions from half space (2pi) to full space (4pi). At low frequencies, the sound essentially is always operating in full space (think of it as wrapping all the way around the speaker), as the wavelengths are longer than the dimensions of the front baffle of the speaker. At higher frequencies, the wavelengths are shorter and operate in half space (they have the ability to bounce off the front of the speaker). At these higher frequencies, the abruptness of the transition from half space to full space can cause irregularities in the frequency response, most easily measurable directly on axis. If you can make the transition more gradual, and also if you can make it less symmetrical, you can reduce the magnitude of the effect. If you're interested in the deep details and want to make your brain melt out of your ears, here's some additional reading material: www.linkwitzlab.com/diffraction.htmwww.linkwitzlab.com/faq.htm#Q8Thanks for the information. Looks like what I have read before. A factor I was thinking that may be part of the decision to use the angles is the AMT tweeter. I think these angles came from the development of the Emotiva Stealth professional monitors. I do not think the angles are there for looks. They do not appeal to everyone but I think there cool. I think there may be a different reason that all the Emotiva Stealth and Airmotiv speakers have these angles and if it improves the sound they can make them look like a F117-Nighthawk and WAF can take a hike.

I'm sorta surprised we didn't see any new in ceiling models or atmos add ons to the towers.

Ceiling speakers have long been a product of Emotiva and there is a good possibility they may show back up at some point in time. Hair Nick says more to come.

I would prefer in ceiling for whenever I get around to an Atmos upgrade, but it seems other vendors are rolling out those tower add on modules for Atmos, and seeing how Emotiva is coming out with Atmos capable processors, I thought hmm...just maybe they'll make them. However a ceiling speaker with a matching tweeter and driver with this new line seems like it would be perfect for an Atmos install.

I have been wondering if it is possible for speakers that could be suspended from the ceiling some way that would not require cutting holes in the ceiling for mounting. Something you could use in an apartment or ceilings that do not allow for In Mounting. Humm ?

Ive used speaker stands that extend almost to the ceiling for hights channels, I plan on trying them for Atmos.

This is the speaker in the new Airmotiv line that most catches my attention. Appears to be the model Airmotiv E2. Looks similar in design to my Emo Reference ERD-1, one of the finest surround speaker every made! Anyone who doesn't get this or at least the E1 (not the B1) to match the T-1 or T-2 is a nut

You could try the method that SVS suggests for their prime elevation speakers: Positioned this way, they can work for atmos/DTS-x in direct radiating mode: Please note that you can use more than 2 height speakers in this configuration for ATMOS/DTS-X if needed.

I get it though, for those who are not nuts already. I agree Chuckienut. This new arrangement of the T2 and C2 with larger towers and center deserve the new E2 for surrounds if possible. The E2 would be the choice for surrounds if possible for the smaller T1 and C1 as well.

Also, it has been shown that angled facets are about as effective as large edge radius at reducing edge diffraction. Note that the facets are concentrated mostly near the tweeter, since it is the tweeter that benefits most, both from reduced edge diffraction and from unequal ray distances from the center of the tweeter to the edges of the baffle. When you can't provide a narrow front baffle (as necessitated by the larger woofers), the benefits of our faceted edges become more important to preventing treble response ripple.

They are in standby mode When they get a signal, all those LEDs will switch to blue. Are there any improvements to the actual sound? I have a pair of 6s coming tomorrow and I want to know how bad I should feel. I don't think this question was answered. I'm interested in knowing the answer as well!
