That review of the Double Impact was all kinds of fantastic! He mainly reviewed it against speakers costing huge amounts of money and said it came out on top. I was impressed with that review too, but i would preferred a comparison with other brands with similar price tags (20K) like B&W, Dynaudio, Sonus Faber, etc. Too much mumbo jumbo for me in the patent and no graphs or measurements in the review. I will give them a listen for sure, maybe they are the real deal....

I always wanted these Aragon palladiums, and I've only owned them for a couple months. Absolutely incredible amplifiers! I would hate to get rid of them, so if I do try the tektons I may hold on to them even if I go with a lower powered cheaper amplifier. quote author=" pedrocols" source="/post/879917/thread" timestamp="1490227349"] Dang! I see these speakers are very very efficient. I haven't changed my equipment in my profile yet, but I'm currently running a pair of Aragon palladium ii mono blocks which will drive even the most demanding speakers. I would think that they would be major overkill at 600 watts into a 4 ohm load. However, if I get them and really like them I could downgrade my amps and recoup some of the money I spend on the Tektons. Here is on of the statements from a recent review. So basically you should be fine driving these speakers with any low powered amp. "On the back of the Double Impact is one set of high-quality speaker wire terminals and two twin ports that vent the two 10-inch drivers. Its frequency range is 20 Hz to 30 kHz, with a sensitivity of 98.82 dB and an impedance of four ohms. Because of its four-ohm rating and very high sensitivity, you can drive this speaker to extremely loud levels (over 100 dB) with less than 10 watts. Yes, I said 10 watts!"[/quote]

One concern I see though is they run class A up to 125 watts each but only in an 8 ohm load. When they see a lower impedance they automatically switch to class a/b. They sound great either way but I would assume because the tektonsbare 4 ohm they would switch to class AB.

SOME Tektons are 4-ohm. My Pendragons are 8-ohm speakers.

I have the Tekton DI speakers powered with XPR-1's and they sound fantastic. I have had OHM Walsh 100's, OHM 4XO's, Magnepan 1.7's, Golden Ear Triton 2's and Gallo 3.5 + sub and the Double Impacts are the most lifelike speakers I have ever had in my listening room. I think I finally found the perfect speaker for me. They sound more like "live" music than any of the prior speakers that I have owned. I would highly suggest auditioning a pair but be prepared to buy them.

My number one thing that I do is watch Blu Ray concerts so the live sound may be a good thing! I had considered trying some Zu speakers also.

Jesus! $20,000 for the Pendragon?! What's he doing building the case out of aluminium or something? Surprisng because the rest of his line up is fantastic in value! So there must be something he's doing that's causing the price to jump so much! they look like they are the same drivers too! Yeah. It seems to go against what Tekton is all about. I don't know what kind of voodoo he put in these new uber expensive speakers, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. As long as he keeps making great-sounding, affordable speakers (practically all of his speakers up until now), then I guess I am okay with it. It is just a bit strange. I would say it is a turn off, but I also respect Erick for what he gave us with his much more affordable speakers, like my M-Lores. Life is interesting.

There are always folks with really deep pockets willing to give it away to speaker manufacturers.

I would bet it's solely to appeal to the "high end has to be high priced to be good" crowd. That's a very large crowd, both in the public as well as in the press. Now those guys can say "Tekton is as good as my Wilson's" without being ashamed/shamed by their peers..

When we are at a live venue, it isn't simply the quality of the sonics that makes it "live" but also the venue we're in, the people we are with and who are around us, having the musicians in front of us, and just that whole experience. I bet if we really focused solely on the sound quality, then compared it to well-recorded performances played back on our systems, we'd prefer the latter.

There are always folks with really deep pockets willing to give it away to speaker manufacturers. I agree but disagree. I have always said money is relative and I still believe in that statement. I was never one to have deep pockets. I was your average blue collar worker but was fortunate to have decent paying jobs with very good benefits. Blessed. Although at the time I took my benefits for granted. My favorite speakers are B&W not for all taste but IMO I enjoy there realistic true life sound. Some will disagree. I owned many brands of speakers, well made and well sounding speakers but stuck with the B&W brand. There latest series 3 speakers are high dollars $$$$! Just to give you a comparison my B&W 803 diamonds sold for $10,000 new. I was able to pick them up after the introduction of the series 3 for a little under $7000.00 new. The new B&W 803D3 list for $17,000..out of my league but for a while so we're the 803 diamonds. I kept my surrounds and my center S speaker and all is well. So I guess what I am saying is if you can afford the high prices of some electronic devices go for it! All of the speakers I have owned gave me decent resale value, however the B&W 804S speakers did much better than decent. I owned them for 8-9 years, they were in pristine condition, orginal Bowes and manuals giving me a resale price of $2400.00 which equated to better than half of there orginal cost. I expect no less if I sold the 803's....which I am not, due to the fact my better half INSISTS on burying me in the cartons of these speakers. She said, " in a fetal position" I would fit perfectly.😂

Last concert I attended the sound was as ear piercing as you can imagine but I had a lot of fun and it was great. I just like to make the distinction about how different the former from the latter can potentially be.

Too much talking about Tekton here, Tekton there is picking my curiosity to try them for my living room. I went to check their mid towers and now they have a smaller version of the double impact called "electron"
