I have to agree with Harlan, just not so vehemently. Dan made a promise and hasn't followed through; he's done that before and he'll do it again; and his update post you could have cut and paste from 6 years ago, so I had to chuckle when people thanked him for it. Some don't care for that behavior and have left. Others weigh the good against the bad. It's good to have the Harlan's provide balance over the uber-fans; neither side is right nor are they wrong.

whatever...it doesn't seem like a terribly complicated unit. Mark I dont see you having a dog in this fight. What I do see is multiple people agreeing with my valid position. What I also see is you trying to belittle me and pass judgement. Sometimes it's best to stay in your own lane. This is one of those times. All I want is a product that works as advertised and a proper manual so that I can maximize its utility. IOW what I paid for. BTW if you have been involved in these threads you would see the many questions that get asking regarding how this product works.

The reason is to address issues that should have been resolved prior to the product release. I personally haven't had a compatibility issue with jump drives before but evidently they exist. How about the usb sticks released after MC-700 was released? You are nitpicking.

As I said, the one I bought worked first time. I just feel for the member who could not get one to work. We thought for sure mine would work so I sent it to him. As it turns out it didnt. He had issues 2.90 addressed. Does that suggest that maybe the MC700 may be finicky? PS what does DOM of the USB matter as long as its not a newer standard? I also think you missed my point. The issues that creatwd the need for a USB firmware upgrade should have been fixed befire the MC700 was released for sale.

Sorry I have plenty of Emotiva products but these issues are real. I don't own an MC-700, XMC-1 or UMC-200 so I cannot relate to the ongoing glitches and BS problems that should have been caught internally and fixed before the product was ever released. The audio drop outs are present even on my Sherbourn series receivers and pre/pros from five years ago and there used to be plenty of online jibber jabber from Emotiva, it's representatives and it's techs showing where people were scrambling to come up with the fix people needed. That talk went away and the answer became no more updates are being offered for those products.
To think five generations of products later and Emotiva is still trying to get things together is almost unbelievable. Sorry, these customers posting their confusion and disappointment deserve to be pissed off. There were clearly posts from Dan and others stipulating the issues were known and being worked on. That has been the same line toed since the products were released yet no end game has ever been in sight.
The announcement of modular amps where channels could be added easily is anything but an easy process. Buy a two channel now and send it back to have other channels added...at a very steep price (at least to me). Not sure I even want to talk any more about these....
"Emotiva Partners"...."No more sales"...."Time frame for product availability"....every one of these points being made was the doing of nobody but Emotiva themselves. I mean the partners are obviously hitting a rough patch when the costs fluctuate online daily as per the International sales thread. The no more sales is something that I really don't care about but it seems to be something posted in the past by Emotiva and Big Dan only to reneged on. Now to the product availability, I honestly have no idea how you can come out of CES and post time lines for release of products that are not even mentioned again. I mean it seems to me that there have been products in the past the were announced as in the pipe line or coming soon....that never made it to market. I really think Emotiva bit off way more than they can chew. They were sitting in a great position with internet direct sales, twice a year clearance sales moving out slow moving stock and offering a little bit of something for everyone. I for one am disappointed in the way this last year has turned from promising future to fistful of problems. Thank God I am set and not sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for new product launches. The talk right now of an RMC-1 flagship Dirac ready processor has been a dripping out of information and possible options, additions or subtractions since it was first introduced. The moving of design and production stateside for some products but not others leaves me confused. I think Emotiva should have entered this transition period in a three year plan not six months. Seems like the sh** hit the fan and nobody wants to say anything about anything.
I feel for the die hard supporters that want to continue supporting this company, I am one of them. I can't even think of how many customers I sent their way through other forums yet I am disappointed myself with how things have been rolling out....or not

On the manual itself, if you have specific questions about "how do I (fill in the blank)?", then how about you call Emotiva and ask them that very specific question instead of constantly whining that "they didn't meet their commitment to me of the perfect manual I was hoping for!!!" Seriously, that's how it comes across to me. Regarding the other issues with the unit - clearly they are saying they are trying. I understand that you are frustrated but constantly repeating the same old thing here doesn't get you any closer to a solution. Have a swell day... Mark

As for me...I have fought with plenty of gear. And, when I do - I don't go on forums re-re-repeating myself. I either seek a solution or get rid of the offending beast. Mark

In my experience with the Mac-700, I've had drop outs and lots of issues--delay in Audio and slipping from dd to pcm after pause/ff on my TiVo DVD/ cable box.
switching to blue jeans hdmi, has shortened the delays and may be helping with drop outs, but not the problems with slipping to pcm after pause/ff
I checked the TiVo forum, and guess what--these are well known problems with my family of tivos (roamios). Tivos response is to switch to pcm mode! Or try optical cable. ( it sounds like TiVo is not breaking its back to support Dolby digital)
so so at least in some cases, the cable box is part or most of the problem. It would be interesting to hear what sources others that experience drop outs are using.
not to let emotiva totally off the hook though. tivos are a major product, and one would hope that problems with this line should be addressed in firmware as a matter of course.
btw, does the XMC have trouble with TiVo.

Lol....and here we have a guy with no dog in the fight complaining about a guy who does have a dog in the fight for complaining about what he is owed.
If calling them was the solution, I would have received a return call a long time ago. In my background, we tell folks like you to stay in their own lane. Advice you should consider.

I had 'problems' with three thumb drives, May just have been a newbie mistake, as I then realised that I was plugging them into the blue 'Digital Input' USB socket rather than the black USB 'Update' socket. All three worked fine in the 'Update' socket. I may be stating the obvious, but those having problems are connecting their thumb drive to the correct socket??? It is an easy mistake to make.

The other good questions are: is it plugged in and is it powered on?

If calling them was the solution, I would have received a return call a long time ago. In my background, we tell folks like you to stay in their own lane. Advice you should consider. since you are giving out advice, so will I. Repeating over and over the exact same thing won't fix your problems. Given they didn't call you back and you still have questions, how about you call them again and ask whatever questions you have about the unit's operation that are not explained in the manual and that you have not yet figured out. Regarding issues with your unit's operation, you have explanations here from both Dan and Keith that tells you they are still working on issues. So, it doesn't seem to be worth asking about those at this point, and it also doesn't seem worth you commenting again on them as we all know them well thanks to you having already repeated them numerous times without adding anything new.
