Hello One and all.
There were previously two different threads in different sections of the forum for potential issues and or comments, which seemed to be causing some confusion. So I thought it would be best for everyone if we put it all into one location. To that end, I have locked the other threads in hopes that everyone will come to this one from now on. Please note that I didn't delete the threads, so you can still reference back to them.
Since our latest code release, it looks as though we have resolved all the listed issues, obviously there are a few special cases that we are still looking into, but the bulk of the previously known issues have been resolved. So it seemed a good time for a fresh start.
I know it has been mentioned on a number of occasions, but I will mention it again. Please note that this is not the appropriate place to get help directly from us. This thread is intended for the community to help each other. We try as best we can to monitor the forums, but if you have a specific question or need help from us (Emotiva), please send us an email or call us directly because we may not see your post here.
I also think this is a good time to say Thank You to everyone here. If it were not for all of you, we would not be where we are now.
Best regards,
Lonnie

Just a thought, but you should probably link the two threads in the OP.

If there is one thing that is absolutely vital to the MC700, it is 4k certified cables - EVEN if you aren't using 4k sources. It should be stickied somewhere and mandatory purchase requirement for the MC.
Should you need 4k for non-4k sources? No. But for whatever reason this chipset/platform is very cable sensitive and a lot of frustration will go away if you get 4k cables.

Here are the links from the aforementioned "major" MC-700 discussions that I could find: MC-700 some problemsMC-700 TroubleThere are other shorter chains of specific questions.

This is perhaps a problem with other combinations of sub-4K components, not just the MC-700. We were having a lot of occasional audio drop-outs where the HDMI had to re-synch just watching Comcast cable (DVR actually). The sequence was Comcast -> UMC-200 -> Darby Darblet -> TV (Samsung DLP, so not new). All 1080p components - well, the Comcast unit runs either 720p or 1080i. The audio drop-outs could occur in the middle of ordinary TV watching, not at boundaries like changes in commercials. Anyway, I bought and tested a bunch of 3 and 6 ft. Monoprice 18Gb HDMI cables, the thin ones that are uni-directional, vetting them first on an upstairs pure 4K set-up including the MC-700, and then replacing the older HDMI cables in the downstairs TV/theater set-up. I'll be keeping an eye on drop-outs, but it's just as possible that the Comcast box is the culprit and no cable replacements will help.

I don't have an MC-700, but I can tell you that the Emotiva Z-series HDMI cables work with my Oppo UDP-203 and Samsung KS9800 4K/HDR/HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 panel. While they may only be "High Speed" rated, I'm sure if they were to be tested they could be "Premium" certified.

UMC-1 was the same way and I bet quality cables would have gone a long way to improve it's quirkiness. The 1, 200, and the 700 are all the same platform so my guess is each one are cable sensitive. Not sure why you'd get the thin cables instead of their certified cables. The thin ones just smell of "gimmick" for those with cable management fetishes.

Their thick 4K certified 18Gb cables were marked by purchasers as being very stiff, not very bendy, and hence put more pressure on the HDMI connections. I'm pretty sure these thin ones are certified too.

Hi Lonnie/Dan
I bought one of the MC700s in the first (January) wave. We have been generally happy with the video and sound quality, but there have always been problems with sporadic audio drops. I have reassigned inputs, switched HDMI cables, and upgraded to the latest firmware (2.9.*). The drops keep happening more frequently now which may correlate to the weather warming up as well.
There was something in another post about a heatsink. What do we do to get our unit checked out and fixed up?
Both my wife and daughter are revolting and asking for the old Denon so I need some help and guidance
Sincerely
-GS

Does anyone know how to disable the certain inputs? There is an option under "input config" for enabling, but I can't actually move the cursor to it for most of the inputs. I think only Digital and Analog-2 I could disable.
I want to disable coax, since my Logitech remote wants to set it to coax instead of digital when I use the command.
FWIW I have FW 2.9.0

That's ok I guess, was just looking for a workaround for some issues my Logitech is having setting the right mode. Do you know if it might be possible to have an IR code, or maybe it is existing just not published, for the direct analog and Digital inputs? I see it has an RS-232 setting but not IR listed in the docs. The Logitech remotes are great, but they struggle with "Toggle" type buttons.

I also use the logitech harmony. If you just make use of one digital input maybe my workaround serves you: I have connected my sonos connect both to the coaxial and to the optical digital inputs and in this way it doesn't matter wich one is active at the moment, it always works with the recorded activities.

I did a little experimentation today, setting aside my Harmony One and using just the Emotiva remote. I find that if I select the optical input with the remote, then select an HDMI input, and then hit DIG again, I do not reliably return to the optical input. Frequently I get coax, occasionally bluetooth, and very rarely get optical. Is this something that can be fixed in firmware?

I dont understand why manufacturers do not issue decrete codes for all inputs.

This is similar to my issue and probably why I can't get the Harmony to work right. Toggle buttons are a pain. That is why I was hoping to disable the input to not let it toggle to Coax. I unfortunately do not have Coax and optical outs to do as previously suggested by jolaca

After upgrading all my HDMI cables to "premium certified" (the ones from Monoprice, which in my opinion are not too stiff), I'm still encountering issues, even with the latest 2.9.0 firmware.
The most annoying issue at this point is the popping and hissing I hear when switching from PCM to a digital format. Going the other way there is also some noise, but it is less jarring.
My PC still refuses to display when attached to inputs 4-6, despite being an HDMI 1.4 device. The TV picks up no signal from the receiver at all. While I can work around this issue by using inputs 1-3, it's still a bit concerning.
I've also encountered a brand new issue where the MC-700 unit itself has begun making a very high pitched noise, sometimes. I've yet to isolate any possible cause, but if others have encountered this, I'd love to know if you found a way to mitigate.

The Parameter Menu is missing from my OSD menu on my BasX Mc-700, it only shows Trims where there manual states Parameter should be located, is this a bug? I'm running version 2.8.7

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the receiver getting "confused" when audio encoding changes?
For example when watching TV in DD 5.1 and a commercial break with local commercials encoded differently when it switches back it's like only the two channels are being picked up and the dialogue that's supposed to come from the center speaker is absent, no dialogs at all. The way to fix it is either changing channels or cycling through the modes.
This has also happened when loading into Netflix with 5.1 content on Xbox One S.
