While I know the Emotiva ZHDMI cables are rated "High Speed" rated and not "Premium", they have been passing HDR10 content(full bandwidth) without any problems. I like my Emotiva ZHDMI cables. That is all I use now. I still have the first X-Series HDMI cables that are flat and wide but prefer the new ZHDMI cables for there round design. They are solid built cables that will last me for a long time. Good to know they are passing HDR10 for future proof. I too prefer them, especially for their build quality while being flexible.

PS what does DOM of the USB matter as long as its not a newer standard? I also think you missed my point. The issues that creatwd the need for a USB firmware upgrade should have been fixed befire the MC700 was released for sale. Good luck waiting for a flawless product. And yes I missed your point, but in any case I would still rather use my slightly flawed product than wait for a fix that may never concern me or majority of other customers. And if it did, cause only minor annoyance. Pick your fights, to me this isn't one worth fighting for.

Complain all you want but that MC-700 is what it is and you live with it or move on. Crying about it is not going to make it better. If my MC-700 didn't work as expected I really wouldn't like Emotiva to have that attitude towards me. Speaking of possible problems... My MC-700 stopped outputting sound from my cable tuner/recorder. It was working alright before, but now only the picture is there, and it says "no audio". When connected directly to the tv, the sound is working just fine. So what may have caused it to not work anymore? I find the manual not very helpful in this case.

I have some cables that are similar to the ZHDMI - braided, high quality but not "certified" - that work just as well as the Monoprice certified (I can discern no difference), just that they cost me twice as much as the Monoprice cables; and the ZHDMI's are even more at 3x as much.

I don't suppose there is any chance you changed the audio input accidently? also you might try optical for audio.

I've been extolling the virtues of my emotiva processors for years to all my friends. And like a lot of you, I lived through the buggy-as-hell-but-sweet UMC-1.(2010-March 2017 as a matter of fact) The fact remains: it can have the best sound quality in all the world, but I won't be keeping this, if there's a chance it will blow my tweeters. Keith, I'll kindly ask you to dig a little deeper on this one. It's not just 1 or 2 owners. P.S. Actually FWIW, i'm also in favour of Emotiva ditching the cirrus platform. Time to move on. I've had my new/used UMC-200 for a week and its great. No dropped audio or HDMI switching glitches. Sound quality is a little clearer but somehow a tad less dynamic and musical. But maybe that's the new gear placebo effect. My box is on the latest firmware and I'm really only using one HDMI connection and a Toslink, so my needs are simple. I don't think I will buy the MA-700 because it doesn't have XLR outputs. The bugs everyone is complaining about may doom the product if Dan's team can't fix them in firmware, in which case the box will be sunset by Christmas and then we'll see Dan go back on his "no more discounts" statement and there will be a firesale on inventory while a new 4k box with lessons learned will be trotted out with some new glitches that firmware will resolve. We'll see.

I just bought a MC-700. I can't wait to check it out. Have you heard of a due date yet for your new baby?☺

I don't suppose there is any chance you changed the audio input accidently? also you might try optical for audio. Both are HDMI1 (or 5which I also tested) Can't use optical as it's already in use for other source. I have more time to test it during the weekend. I'll try to report back if I find the reason. Also it seems I can't hear DTS-MA tracks, I'll try with other demos to see if any of the HD tracks work.

I wonder if there is an explanation for this. I was watching the 4k disk of John Wick II last night. Had the MC700 set to direct. The audio seemed normal but there were no voices. I watched for a few moments wondering if the director intended to do that.
When I switched over to PLIIx the audio was more dynamic and the voice track was there. I guess I'm not sure how just the voices were muted in Direct Mode.

Occasionally when switching from a stereo source to multi channel my xmc-1 does not pick up the center channel, couple toggles usually fixes it

I guess I'm not sure how just the voices were muted in Direct Mode. This happens to me on my PS4 Pro if it is set to LPCM, and it does not matter how much "refreshing" of the HDMI signal happens. For me, the player has to be outputting Dolby or DTS Unfortunately sometimes the PS4 sets it back to LPCM automatically since, for some reason, it thinks what it's connected to is not Dolby or DTS compatible.

Hi kids, Just thought I'd let you know that we have a firmware release coming for the MC-700 later this week.
It fixes the 4kHDR issue with the Roku Ultra and Premier+ and it also solves the annoying "picket fence" noise issue when switching between 2.0 and D.D.
It also has other bug fixes that will be detailed with the release.
Cheers, Big Dan

Have to be fair and balanced - while the prior update wasn't of substance, this one is; thanks dad.

I wonder if it will be less fussy as to which USB drive is used for uploading?
