Hello, I am writing you this message from France. I've bought a mc700 in january and was very pleased with it at first. But now, i have a problem with it. When it plays for about 30-45 minutes (playing a movie or music), a slight and continuous hiss can be heard, coming from the inside of the processor itself (not from the speakers). This hiss gets progressively louder and can be heard quite clearly if you're listening music at a low or medium level (i am in a small room and am sitting about 4 meters from the processor). This is anoying and tiring. I have the 2 9 2 firmware on my processor. Does anyone else around here have this issue ? Does anyone have a solution for it ?

Hi,
I just purchased one and I am having issues selecting the mode. When it is on Bluetooth or Xbox I will push the mode button on the remote and nothing happens. I have to go through the menu, select mode, then select the one I want. The mode button seems to work intermittently. I am 8' away and the batteries are brand new. Am I missing something here?
I also noticed that when I hit the menu button the menu screen comes one (probably one of the worst interfaces I have used) and it will randomly go to a black screen. I have a feeling this has been brought up but if anyone has any advice on this I would appreciate it. I love the sound of it and that is what makes this so painful. It's like having a really hot wife that is very annoying.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the receiver getting "confused" when audio encoding changes? For example when watching TV in DD 5.1 and a commercial break with local commercials encoded differently when it switches back it's like only the two channels are being picked up and the dialogue that's supposed to come from the center speaker is absent, no dialogs at all. The way to fix it is either changing channels or cycling through the modes. This has also happened when loading into Netflix with 5.1 content on Xbox One S. I had the same thing happen. I went into the xbox menu and selected bitstream audio output. This has solved the issue thus far.

I think is time to update the MC-700 instructions manual here are some areas that should be expanded 1. Audio modes; there is simply not enough information on each of the audio modes and how signals are process. 2. Calibration; more details of the set up instructions and how calibration affects the different parts of setup. 3. Clearly number the manual revision # on the manual itself 4. Troubleshooting; From HDMI to 5.1 to 7.1 set up problems feel free to add to the list what would you like to see on the MC 700 Instruction Manual Ed After more than a year dealing with the MC-700 problems and extraordinary Emotiva support, sorry to say I give up! Why? Here is the summarize story: Purchased MC 700 and was one of the early units that heated up and dropped audio. Got that unit replaced with one with the CPU heat sink, re arranged inside ribbon cables to keep airflow around the CPU, and updated firmware to 2.9.2. The audio drop outs has never stopped but at a lower occurrence than the first unit but are directly trigger by heat specially environmental heat. Then Emotiva sent me a top cover with little holes to improve ventilation. But in summer I can’t use the MC-700 for more than 1hr. As you can see it has being disappointing, but i love the sound of my MC-700.

........I wouldn't do it, in this price range go for a different manufacturer...... I'm waiting on the arrival of my MC-700 but in the mean time went down the rabbit hole...... Not so much as a question but it is questionable to see different Manufactures using very similar if not the same power supply and or complete circuit boards but in different colors....all geared to the same target group and all priced higher than Emotiva....

Hello Rob80b, Mine is like from the bottom picture and has following product codes: input board HMC-700V03.PCB v 3.0 , LDF 1717, CISH 170801A 038; main board AMC-700V04.PCB v 4.0, CISA170801 220 (it has attached the heatsink on IC7 DSP chip)
I suppose mine is produced in 2017 (bought in 2018).

Sad, but true. I've also gone down this rabbit hole since my UMC-200's power supply died over the weekend. I will attempt to replace the infamous C18 and C19 capacitors.

Well if it's only the capacitors you should be good to go.... I'm happy to say I'm quite enjoying my MC-700 if that becomes your alternative route, nice improvement over my UMC-1 especially with regards to the sound processing which is what it is all about...have already had a few compliments from folks who have watched many a movie at Chez moi and have all commented recently on the overall sound and the surround/sound effects... even though I hadn't mention the new processor as if they indeed even know what that is. There are still a few minor HDMI hiccups but no deal breakers.

Hi Just purchased MC-700 + A-700, and encountered some issues with the MC-700 since have it. I've already wrote to the Emotiva's support today (french customer), but wanted to share with you my problems. My system is connected like following : . Sony TV XE90 (Android system), connected by HDMI ARC to MC-700 . UHD BR player Sony UBP-X700, connected to HDMI Port 1 of the MC-700 . Laptop connected to HDMI Port 2 of the MC-700 All my HDMI cables have been replaced with most recent technology last year. MC-700 is working with 2.9.3 firmware. I've got an Onkyo NR656 AMP before, so I will compare my user experience with it. List of issues : 1 - No audio from TV when it's non multi-canal. From Netflix app of the TV, I can play Dolby Digital audio, but the MC-700 displayed "No audio" when I choose non Dolby format. Same issue when I want to play Youtube videos from app too. But when I ran these apps from my BR player, audio is playing normally even when non Dolby Digital. Seems PCM audio played on ACR input isn't working (but it was on the Onkyo) 2 - I was watching Netflix from my windows laptop yesterday (application, not through browser), and when it cames new episode, the video was turning off. Still hear audio but black screen. I've switched to an other HDMI source and get back to the precedent, and video came back. 3 - When my BR player has his HDMI CEC option active, even I've turned the BR player off manually, I didn't know why, but it turning on then. I didn't change anything on HDMI CEC options on my TV and BR Player when I've replaced my precedent Onkyo to MC-700 and encountered this. I've tried to reset BR Player and TV HDMI CEC options many times, but it still remains. 4 - To continue with HDMI CEC issues, with Onkyo, I was able to just switch on my TV, and then my amp turned on too. After that, when turning on BR Player or a Nintendo Switch, Onkyo automatically switched to the correct HDMI source. Same thing when I've wanted to go back to TV apps, when returning to Netflix on the TV, Onkyo switch to ARC source. With MC-700, nothing happened when I had the HDMI CEC option active on the BR Player, and even when going back to TV app, no automatic source switch. And for the automatically turn on the MC-700 when TV is on, nothing too. BUT, the automatically standby when TV is turned off is working (same if MC-700 is turned off, the TV goes in standby too). 5 - The 4K signal from the BR Player is sometimes not correctly send by the MC-700 to the TV and downscaled to 1080p. When it happens, I must reboot several times all the system. Does anyone has already deal with these ? Thanks

Pretty standard type of issues if you read this whole thread. Try different combinations of the 2.0a/1.4 HDMI ports, both input and output, for your gear. Make sure your cables are 4k or better.

Only use HDMI 4-6 inputs for non 4K sources. Don't blame CEC issues on Emotiva, that stuff is a mess unless all of your components are from the same company. Good luck.
