Yep: 2 mono amps in a single chassis is called 'dual mono' while 3 might be 'triple mono'. All the hairs being split trying to work 'MONO' into a multi-channel amp is making me want to Sneeze.

Three of these 600-watt balanced monoblock modules can sit in the same chassis with the same power supply and still perform the same way a single channel monoblock with a single power supply.
I have had several single channel monoblock amps with single power supplies and stereo amps. This notion that separating the channels with separate power supplies does not fly with me. Cross talk and all that jazz is not built in with a stereo amp that you get these days. You are just kidding yourself.
I do not understand why they make monoblocks anymore. I do not understand why Emotiva makes the XPA-1 anymore. Only reason I can see is so they can have large output to a single channel. You have to have huge power hungry speakers to even consider 1000 watts per channel.
If they make the 600-watt balanced monoblock modules to go in there Gen 3 XPA chassis and you have multiple speakers that can use that power, you would be foolish not to get a Gen 3 XPA amplifier with them over three XPA-1's.
Audio Angels will not weep and you will not hear a difference. There is no contest for best monoblocks other than the one you dream up.

I'll take my 73 lb XPA-1's any day instead of the new Gen 3 XPA. Say whatever you like, the gigantic torroidal transformer and power supply are tested and true and this 3 1/2 lb monoblock doesn't excite me in the least. I still don't know why they wasted a gigantic chassis for a tiny little plug in module, they could have made a 10 lb monoblock along the lines of the Marantz MA series.

Emotiva will stop making the XPA-1's with big torroidal transformers. Mark my words. Big torroidal transformers do not make an amplifier sound better just because you have them.

Nick your are the 'Man On The Spot'. You are happening ! I expect nothing less from you ! Monoblocks have Total Separation! Specifically, 5' and my towers have 1 meter 12 gauge cabling. ππΆππ

Specifically, 5' and my towers have 1 meter 12 gauge cabling. ππΆππ I love this song. Yeah, sing the song, Bro' If the sun refuse to shine, I don't mind, I don't mind, If the mountains fell in the sea, let it be, it ain't me. Alright, 'cos I got my own world to look through, And I ain't gonna copy you. Now if 6 turned out to be 9, I don't mind, I don't mind, Alright, if all the hippies cut off all their hair, I don't care, I don't care. Dig, 'cos I got my own world to live through And I ain't gonna copy you. White collared conservative flashing down the street, Pointing their plastic finger at me. They're hoping soon my kind will drop and die, But I'm gonna wave my freak flag high, high. Wave on, wave on Fall mountains, just don't fall on me Go ahead on Mr. Business man, you can't dress like me. Sing on Brother, play on drummer.

LOL JUST SAYIN, π This is true and Novisnick would not be Novisnick if he did not have XPR-1's. I get why all those who got big Emotiva monoblocks got them. I settled for a Emotiva UPA-2 and never looked anywhere else. I am a little guy and proud of it !

I don't know why you did this but I can understand why it did not change things. I want a Emotiva surround processor that does not cost $2500 so I can get me a Emotiva multichannel amp. A simple five channel prepro that is not a UMC. I thought Big Dan would come thru with a good budget prepro and he failed Big time. The cost of a good prepro went from $2500 to $5000. You guys made a thread about Emotiva not going high end. You got it wrong. They are only going high end.

Now, if you want exceptional Atmos basedunit thats the Cats Meow, you'll need to pony up that 5K ! Only reason I don't own an XMC-1 at this moment, (and sold mine in advance) was so I could purchase a built to order XMC-1 Maximum! (All 4 upgrades) Thats their new designation, ( XMC-1 Maximum) in case you missed it! LOL π
