This could not be said years ago. I don't know why you did this but I can understand why it did not change things. I want a Emotiva surround processor that does not cost $2500 so I can get me a Emotiva multichannel amp. A simple five channel prepro that is not a UMC. I thought Big Dan would come thru with a good budget prepro and he failed Big time. The cost of a good prepro went from $2500 to $5000. You guys made a thread about Emotiva not going high end. You got it wrong. They are only going high end. Sorry Axis , Emotiva is building a great processor in the XMC-1 for $2,500.00 ! Now, if you want exceptional Atmos basedunit thats the Cats Meow, you'll need to pony up that 5K ! Only reason I don't own an XMC-1 at this moment, (and sold mine in advance) was so I could purchase a built to order XMC-1 Maximum! (All 4 upgrades) Thats their new designation, ( XMC-1 Maximum) in case you missed it! LOL 😋 I only need five channel surround and I need it compact. Big Dan sad he was building a prepro that met my needs called Emersa and it is nowhere to be seen. I will not spend more than $ 1000 for a prepro. I just bought a pair of speakers from Emotiva for $1000 and a Sony DAP for $1000. It is a principle thing with me not to spend over $1000 on any one piece of audio gear. I have had one bank loan and one credit card when I first joined the Air Force. I canceled that credit card a month after I got it when I was in my twenty's. People could learn a lesson from me when it comes to money.

I'm with you on this one Axis. I don't care if it shovels my snow for me, I won't pay $5k! I would be willing to pay more for speakers because they are the music, they are the action in the movie. I really believe Emotiva will lose it's ass if they decide to put out a $5k processor. A handful of people would buy them and the rest like myself will remain satisfied with what we have.
Again like you, I have no debt outside of my mortgage which we could pay off if we wanted to. As long as we can claim the interest as a tax credit we will keep the mortgage.

Tim Tim, I would rather pay $5000 for a super system with all the bells and whistles that the RMC will offer than $3000 for a XMC under dog. Emotiva could build a $1000 prepro that does not have more channels than the typical person would use. There is no law that says you must have Dolby Atmos with 16 channels in your living room surround system. It is absurd to think just because it is the latest and greatest and all the Audio Video Media and those on AVSForum demand it, that you have to build only that. The RMC-1 is a signature piece for Emotiva to win that customer. Emotiva, you have a customer that built you and don't you forget it !

Yeah, seven speakers are the most I would assemble in a room. No Atmos for me.....ever. I watch more on tv than anyone else in my house and five to seven speakers is plenty. The fact that they are dragging ass on the entire Emersa line sort of disappoints me. I am happy with what my electronics put forth as is so the only thing I will entertain changing out at this point is speakers. I have my eye on a pair of Klipsch La Scalas in mint condition but I honestly don't have a large wall to put them on. They are big suckers and just finding a place to go with them has me stumped. For the cost of them I would grab them in a heartbeat but if i have nowhere to go I may have to pass on them.

With larger speakers, a 'place to put em' is Not Necessarily the place they should go for best sound. And for a 7.x type system, matching speakers in the sense of timbre is more important than mondos' in front and who knows what for the surrounds. 'House Sound' is important for coherant sound. That IMO is the number #1 answer when people ask why their system doesn't sound or perform quite rite and they have decent, electrically compatible stuff. The answer? They've been forced by conditions or spouse to put stuff 'where it fits' rather than 'where it sounds best'. I've heard a variety of gear in peoples homes and the Best systems always have the best rooms. Acousticlly, at least. For example? I couldn't imagine where I'd put a 7.x system in my awful shaped listening room. Or 5.x, for that matter. And the wife has let me do a proper setup with my existing stereo which sounds fine. Now? If I could only wrangle permission to add some room treatments I could easily go to the 'next level'.

Yeah, the La Scalas were only going to be in a 2.0 system so I didn't have to timbre match anything. The fact that they stick out three feet into any room on any wall is my biggest problem. Unless I had a real dedicated theater with a huge screen or something I could never entertain anything this large in a multi channel setting. However, I envy those that have the room to do so!

That's the traditional problem with my favorite speaker. Magnepan. They radiate out front and back evenly so you need 3 feet bare minimum. 5 is mostly the recommended distance while a few 'radicals' do other setups which provide good sound but still take up lots of space. Diffusion on the front wall behind the speaker helps image and the 'spatial' feeling they are so good at providing.

It's Fall. Did the boat sink? Apologies in advance for being an as*. Did you read the Emofest notes in the Green Room? As of the original post, written by me, as of 9/2 - they were "on the boat". That was 20 days ago. The boat has to arrive, clear customs, get unloaded, and parts have to get to Franklin. Should be soon, but...it's not life and death...so, no reason to be an a$$ (your word...not mine...) Mark

I'm just somewhat disappointed in Emo right now. Kelly

They have tons of new products that sound great and are a great value. They arrive when they arrive. Not like we are all waiting on new kidneys. Mark

They've been forced by conditions or spouse to put stuff 'where it fits' rather than 'where it sounds best'. I've heard a variety of gear in peoples homes and the Best systems always have the best rooms. Acousticlly, at least. Agreed. It's stunning what you can get at a few grand and get outstanding sound, if you figure out room and placement.

I wish I could take my OWN Advice and install some sound treatments and most especially Diffusion on the front wall, in back of my panels.
