With no news for so many months straight, I ended up pre ordering the Burson Swing pre amp/DAC. I was really looking forward to getting the DC-2, but I just couldn't wait anymore. Plus not having any news at all was a bummer.

I guess it is worth waiting for the DC-2 since I personally know no DAC who has an analog input ( DAT, Videorecorder) and a headphone amp integrated. I am looking especially for DACS with an analog input, but it seems none out there offer this option and its geting rare.

Was thinking of an unit with good gold plated inputs and I look for a Coaxial Input Selector Switch that has the same kind of quality. Any suggestions? It appears that if you look inside the DC-1 of Emotiva had better parts in it, so I guess it is still worth waiting.

And since you gave so good suggestions I am in need of RCA, Coaxial and Toslink (Optical cables) built the Emotiva way. price between 20 -50$. I do not like Blue Jean Cables, but maybe you can recommend me something.

If you're looking for a stand-alone desktop amp with digital/analog inputs and headphone/preamp outs, there are many brands at different price points (NAD, Benchmark, Oppo, Topping, etc). If you're listening via computer, there are pro-audio interfaces you can connect that offer additional features with more complexity. I hate to make any recommendations on gear I haven't listened to, but I did like my DC-1 along with my Emu and Tascam interfaces. That said, I have my eye on these two units since they offer balanced circuitry/headphone outs at a similar (lower) price point, but I haven't heard them.

Anymore, if I need a cable, I check the pile.

Do you think they ship the Monoprice DAC with an european power cable for the outlet. Mhm, damn, I cannot find the right power adapter.

I have seen there are outlet adapters for American/Erupean outlets, however, they say they it is compatible with 230V, but I am not sure if they ship with the right power adapter which would make things easier.

May have to source an external adapter from somewhere else, as long as it can supply 16 VDC 1.25A. Don't know. We do have universal adapters in Europe, but none of them does match the 16VDC. I assume the only option would be to buy an American/Euorpean wall outlet adapter and use the DAC with the orginial power cord. I have send them an email and asked them about that. On the other hand thats why prefer Emotiva, becouse their power cord is standard and available here as well. Have you personally tried driving Audeze headphones or any other low senivity headphone like the Hifiman 500 or 400 series? I am not sure if the they do have the punch and power I am looking for.

Plus not having any news at all was a bummer. I sold my DC-1 over a year ago. I had a few people making lowball offers claiming the DC-2 would be launching "any day now." That could all be well true, but if it has the performance I am looking for it is worth waiting. I assume Danny Boy is off Axpona or preparing for it now and once they are back they will probably begin to re-launch their new series step by step. The costs are enormous for these products and I guess their controller will take the perferable steps to launch one part, then the other part with the DACS and Amps. As far as I know they are also working on a new cable series. As of now noone can tell me if he has tried driving Audeze or Hifiman 400 or 500 series of headphones and has not run into troubles at high volume levels. I assume the DAC might be good, but the headphone amp. mhm?

Why was the DC-2 shelved? How do you know? Couldn’t keep the price point where everyone wanted it without hurting / killing the SQ. Many waiting for this unit also wanted bells and whistles that just couldn’t be done within reason. Many were looking forward to this unit, myself included but sadly won’t be for sale. Would anybody spend $1,000.00 for a great sounding DC-2 ? What would it have, ( bells & or whistles) to incorporate to make you buy?

Doubtful at that price. They would probably want to make it a bigger chassis if they want a chance
