I don't know how old the people that have given opinions are, but I will watch it this coming weekend with a very open mind, not looking to put it on a pedestal or knock it down.....what I mean by not knowing how old some people are is how old they were when the original came out, it makes a difference. ....those that are old enough know what I'm talking about. .... I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 6. Empire when I was 9. I went in with an open mind. It was actually special for me today because I took my 9 year old and we saw it for the first time together. Enjoy there is a lot to enjoy about the movie.

Okay, so opinions are just opinions but here I go.....
As some of you will remember, I was very critical of The Force Awakens, and still am. That was by far and away the worst of the Star Wars movies.
It was followed by Rogue One, which was much better, but still not great. At least it told a story and answered some questions. But in the end it lacked character development and character empathy. When the 2 main characters of a movie die at the end and we audience members feel nothing for them, it's not good movie making.
And now comes The Last Jedi. And.......honestly, I enjoyed it. It's far better than TFA, and much more entertaining than R1. Was it the greatest story line? Um, no. The entire premise was STUPID as all get out (can't talk about it yet so people still have a chance to see it for themselves). And one entire scene line was utterly pointless filler. But what they did with what they had was quite good and at least entertaining and fun. It certainly didn't lack for keeping your interests. It had particular scenes that were awesome, and others not so awesome. Unlike the Harry Potters, this movie has big holes that can be easily ripped into, which I'm sure we'll all do soon. But over all, it was most certainly worth watching and unlike TFA, it progressed the story and I'll definitely be watching it again in the future.
I'll talk about in more detail once more people have seen it and we can start talking details.

My parents actually took me out of school to see the first showing of ESB in 1980.

Disappointed. Spoilers?...
3/4 of the movie, “Curses, the rebels are just out of our grasp! Let’s just follow them and wait till they run out of gas.” Really?
The penguins are an obvious Christmas toy. And the flying princess made me laugh out loud.
Disney-fication. Bah humbug!

Just read that CinemaScore, which gets reactions from people as they leave the theaters, is reporting that most people so far are giving it an "A".....

I'll probably be waiting for it to arrive on UHD Disc. But I guess that's better than the vast majority of the DCEU which I've passed by after Man of Steel with the exception of Wonder Woman ...

So...I've seen it at the theater 2 times already. The first time, I took my 4 year daughter to see it in 2D. There were a few parts that scared her a little, but overall, she enjoyed it. Captain Phasma is her favorite character(for whatever reason, I'm not sure). My wife and I went to see it at the Rangos Theater(formally iMax) here in Pittsburgh in 3D. I am not a fan of 3D, but I have to tell you, it was, the most incredible movie experience that I have ever seen. I was telling my father, that I think that theater just ruined me. I look at my modest home theater and upgrade bug is really itching now...
As for the movie itself, I thought it was pretty good. It has some good parts. I thought some of the comedic relieve felt a little forced(no pun intended) and the whole SPOILER: code breaker portion seemed unnecessary. I think they could have used that time to better develop some of the back-story as to why luke is in the middle of nowhere and put a little more emphasis on Rey's training. Also...I think they could have done a better job with Snoke. He was killed too easily and his minions put up a better fight than he did. All-in-all, I found it to be entertaining. It wasn't the best Star Wars movie, but it was still better than episodes I, II, III.

I saw it in 3D and it wasn't bad. Usually to me 3D movies are gimmicky Star Wars was not. Just a touch of 3D
