My theater her in my big city of 50,000 people sucks so I'll wait for the Blu-ray and watch it in the comfort of my home, better picture and better sound by a long shot.

Have tickets for next Sunday evening. Should be great. We did a marathon a few months ago and watched all of them. I guess there are 8 with Rogue 1.

Actually, why would you even bother watching episodes I-III?

Watched them by timeline. 1-3 have never been my favorites so lots of computer time, bathroom, dozing, etc. except during the pod races, arena scene, asteroid chase and a few other scenes. 4 is the best and 5 & 6 are mostly good. Enjoyed Rogue 1 and #7/8 depending if you count Rogue except losing Hans!!.

I think that we can all say it now. 1-3 are a steaming pile of you know what. The only redeeming thing of the entire trilogy is the chess match that puts Palpatine in power.
Definitely the best three are A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and the Force Awakens. Then all the rest.

If you watch 1,2, and 3 first, I guarantee you would have fallen asleep at least by the middle of the second. A newbie definitely wouldn't get in to it that way. It's just a real slog just to get to the good stuff!

I'm pretty sure that I never even bothered watching Episode 2 (Clone Wars?) and I only saw Episode III (unknown sub-title) while watching some friends' kids while they were doing a weekend up in San Francisco for a 50th birthday party. And while I thought that Episode III was an absolutely abysmal bit of film making, I was glad that I saw it solely because I finally realized that George Lucas, in his own incompetent way, was telling a Greek Tragedy: Anakin Skywalker was supposed to be the savior but turned to the Dark Side, but through the efforts of his son and daughter, Anakin is reclaimed and, in the end, _is_ the prophesied savior. A great little story that should have been done in three films at most and by an entirely more competent director.

The problem for me is 4/5/6 look and sound so "old" compared to 1/2/3 and 6 is even better and then there is Rogue One to fit between 3 and 4. As a result, regardless of the story, there's really no choice but to watch it in the release order, the video and audio technology improvements alone make it a no brainer for me. Then there is the quality of the casts, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Ben Mendelsohn and especially Felicity Jones are all quality actors. Compared to 4/5/6 where only Harrison Ford is not a one trick pony with a limited acting range, although even that is debatable. Was Indian Jones (where he was second choice to Tom Selleck) all that different to Han Solo?
IMHO, in this case technology and acting quality easily trump the chronological timeline.
Cheers Gary

Meh. "Acting Quality" only works if there's a good script. And the scripts and hideous dialog were some of the worst aspects of Episodes I, II, and III. Like I said before: it would be great if a really good director and set of writers redid the entire thing.
