This is overkill!. My Salk speakers don't require more than 75-100wpc. Even a vintage 45wpc Nikko integrated drove them just fine, until I cranked it hard, something I seldom do these days.
Used to be almost everything Emotiva sold was something I'd be interested in.
Dan, I'm still waiting for you to build that awesome integrated amp that I'd be interested in. The one with an XSP-1 on the preamp side, an XPA-200 amp or similar for power, an XDA or DC DAC to handle digital content, and of course, the obligatory HT bypass function. Something like the Yamaha integrated I currently have, with a DC-1 handling the digital stuff. Great sounding DAC, by the way. Easily better than the Little Ego.
Better yet would be a 50-70wpc tube integrated!

I already have a pair of XPR-1s. When I bought them, the shipping was free. I thought the main reason they were discontinued was the shipping cost and associated problems. Awesome amps by the way.

The Fats in the fire, now. All that's needed is a speaker of 80db sensitivity to use such prodigious output. Maybe some 30.7 Magnepans?

A super sweet, luxury integrated amp gets my vote as well. People rave about integrated amps from Outlaw, Parasound, Peachtree, Yamaha and others - okay, maybe the market is saturated.

Sounds crazy, could have put all that extra power into your toaster idea and built a microwave instead.

At the risk of derailing a MONOBLOCK thread, why the hell would anyone want an integrated when digital technology changes every other day? I just can't see the joy in throwing out a perfectly good pre amp and power amp just because the DAC in the same box is out of date, superseded, not of any use. Stereo pre amps and power amps last a long time, decades even, why bundle them together with something that might last 3 -4 years at best, makes no sense. Now you really are out there Cheers Gary

Sounds crazy, could have put all that extra power into your toaster idea and built a microwave instead. They still can. Powered Microwave by Emotiva. Lets see, 3.5Kw nominal and 7.0Kw peak. Yes that's it.

Yes power is good. Voltage is good, current is good. More is very good.

I would never be able to afford speakers that would do an amp like this justice. it needs VU meters though, not dots. This is what makes Emotiva unique though... the man in charge asking the pleabs what they want!

Lonnie I were burning a fatty and talking about amplifiers and I had a crazy idea... Let's build a BIGGER amp!!! 600 RMS into 8 ohms sometimes feels inadequate... what if we build an amp with even more power?? Like x 2?? So, the game was on!! We've got a plan for a 1,200 watt into 8 ohms, 2Kw+ into 4 ohms, fully stable into 2 ohms, Differential Reference Power Amplifier that will knock you on your butt's!! I'm thinking $2,500.00 each. I figure the big McIntosh mono block amps retails for 25k a pair, so $5k from Emotiva seems about right. BTW, XPA DR-1sd is the working name. The sd stands for SUPER DUPER!! Any takers?? Hi Dan, The first thing that comes to mind when you’re talking that kind of power is the ultimate loudspeaker, that could truly take advantage of it. Your loudspeakers are held in such high regard.....how about tying in a NEW, ultimate flagship loudspeaker “system” that could benefit? The current field is still comparatively small, and that includes those few with built in subwoofer sections requiring outboard amplification. Bill

After giving it some thought last night I figured out how to make a super high current version of the DR-1 that would drive even the most demanding electrostatic speakers and a super high power DR-1 that would most likely be in the neighborhood of 1800 watts @ 8 and right at 3K into 4ohms. Of course these figures are just on paper at the moment, but I believe them to be very close to reality once it is built.
If we use a variant of our switching power supply we can keep the weight down and get better performance and specs then the old traditional torroid transformer. So the estimated weight would be roughly 45#.
Both new models would be the exact same physical size as our current XPA amplifiers, so no issues with rack mounting.
With the switching power supply you will be able to get full power from either 110 or 220V, so no need for special circuits in your house.
A meter is not our of the question here. Dan found the best maker and I have a really trick way to light it up.
Just thought I would add a little more detail.

I like power, but this is too much for even me to consider. The market would be small. The filthy rich want to go with a high end name for bragging rights. The crazy for power but less affluent already buy pro type amplifiers who advertise similar power for half the cost. Just build solid and affordable equipment like you have been and please get the RMC-1 and the upgraded XMC-1,2 (whatever) done and on the market!

I count THREE speakers These came from a 2ch environment and are killer at that. Of course they are not refined, highly revealing etc but for rock, live music et al, they are rated to handle 2000W RMS. Scott
