For amps with SMPS which are 'D' amps, the efficiency CAN be very high. Like in the 90% range, 'plug to speaker' but measured at full power. Efficiency remains high, but drops as power drops. At NO output, in standby, such an amp might consume only a few watts, but
by than, at ZERO efficiency, there being no output. While efficiency remains higher than an A/B amp, even with Switcher, at useful power levels, that is not really a basis for purchase of an amp which should be done by ear and for long-term use.

If I'm being silly with my Legacy Focus towers, I can drive my XPA-1s into protect mode. Wow. Really? The XPA-1, Gen2 is specified to deliver 600W@8Ω, 1000W@4Ω. And the sensitivity of the Legacy Audio Focus SE is 95.4 dB (2.83V@1m) which is pretty high. You can really push the XPA-1 Gen2 into protection? Yea Gods ... I hope you've got hearing protection ... Casey For music, oh yeah one better be using ear protection. Most of the time when they shut down, it's from massive LFE on movies, not my music. Woofers aren't bottoming or distorting at moderate levels but the LFE is heavy enough to drive the amps nuts. And each is on a dedicated 20A line. |

Make it a full-featured plate amp with all possible features and go after the DIY market. Add either:: 2x12" Open Baffle or a 15" choice of sealed or ported 'KIT' to go with it and you may be onto something.
Keep in mind that the Poll Question results are not really favorable. The 'Yes' and 'Maybe' together is just 2/3 the 'NO' vote. Hardly overwhelming.

Hey Dan..How do I get the clear cover for my amp, the one's that are used at the shows to display the guts of the products. Now that would look cool to me. Can you at least offer that as an option? As far as your "Super Duper" mono's....I say Heck Yeah. There is no substitute for horsepower.
