I ordered the Denon X6500H and it should arrive by Thursday. I'll be feeding the XMC-1 Multichannel 7.1 analog inputs with the Denon 7.1 pre outs so I can run the Denon for 7.1.4 ATMOS and the XMC-1 for music. I won't be doing the ATMOS upgrade so I can keep my XMC-1 free of new bugs and still enjoying Dolby PLIIx Music mode which I like better than Dolby Surround up mixer. Maybe I'm missing something but doesn't that mean a digital to analogue conversion (in the X6500H), then an analogue to digital conversion (in the XMC-1) and then another digital to analogue conversion (also in the XMC-1)? Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary Enrico will just plug his bluesound streamer into a digital input on the XMC1 and switch from the multi analogue input I imagine Gary

While watching movies, he’ll be using the XMC-1 in a pseudo “pass-through” mode by using the 7.1 analog inputs. Because he prefers Dirac, and likes to use the PLIix Music mode, he’ll use the XMC-1 for “music”. All he’ll need to do is to determine what volume level on the XMC-1 achieves unity gain with the Denon.

All he’ll need to do is to determine what volume level on the XMC-1 achieves unity gain with the Denon. That is CORRECT!! When running dual receivers/processors, in my case I need to run Audyssey first using the pre outs directly to my external amps to get the system calibrated at 75dB. Then I send the 7.1 pre outs of the Denon to the 7.1 Analog Multichannel input on the XMC-1 and with the speaker trims from Preset 2 and main volume I would get unity gain at 75dB playing the same test tone from the Denon. There is no AD/DA conversion on the XMC-1 as the Multichannel analog input bypass all the processing. I'm getting the Denon tomorrow. I will post my findings during the weekend.

When listening to music with the XMC-1, the Denon will be totally OFF. Basically I'll be using the XMC-1 Multichannel Analog input as a HTBypass the same way I was using the Parasound Halo P5 HTBypass with my old Marantz SR7008.

Looking great and sounding even better!! Ran Audyssey and the Denon X6500 sounds really good, better than I thought it will. Still like the XMC-1 with Dirac better for music, though. Waiting for a HDfury Integral 2 to arrive to share my LG 4K HDR monitor with the two processors but everything else is done. I had to set the XMC-1 master volume at -20dB, Preset 2 speaker trims at +5dB for speakers and +3dB for subwoofer and Analog 7.1 trim to +9dB to match the calibration settings I got after Audyssey with the Denon X6500 plugged directly into the Emotiva amps. I haven't played any loud content but at moderate volume there is no clipping or distortion that I can hear coming out of the speakers. I was kinda worried because when you pass to the positive side of trims, you usually get clipping but not in my case.

I want to see your wiring diagram. Between the XMC-1 and the X6500 or the whole AV rack? I hope it’s only between the XMC-1 and X6500

Does anyone with V3 HDMI board upgrade has success with a HDFury Vertex or Integral 2? I got an Integral 2 to share my LG 4K HDR monitor with the Denon X6500 and he XMC-1 and everything works great with the Denon X6500H but with the XMC-1 I get black screens when selecting 4K sources like ATV 4K and Sony X700 blue ray player. Only Xfinity DVR works which is 1080p/60Hz. With the Denon the Integral 2 works great with any kind of source.

I have this configuration: Oppo UDP-205 -> Vertex -> XMC-1 -> C7 I use it to override HDR10 static metadata to have better control of tone-mapping. The Vertex/Integral2 have lots of settings. You might try posting the connection path including cables and attach an export of the configuration. - Rich

That way I can select Analog 7.1 input with HDMI 5 Video and it works perfectly. I already asked Monoprice to process the the return. To be honest, I don't need the X6500H to be sending output to the LG monitor. I just wanted to have both processors sharing both displays but with the solution I found after the Integral 2 failed, it does what I was looking for. I would use the LG monitor with the Denon only during calibration, REW or diagnostics. Here with the Integral 2 Here with No Integral 2

In past firmware, I have had failed handshakes (no image) with the Vertex2 feeding and XMC-1 input. Since these did not occur with the Vertex removed, I did not think it was worth pursuing. - Rich
