Does anyone with V3 HDMI board upgrade has success with a HDFury Vertex or Integral 2? I got an Integral 2 to share my LG 4K HDR monitor with the Denon X6500 and he XMC-1 and everything works great with the Denon X6500H but with the XMC-1 I get black screens when selecting 4K sources like ATV 4K and Sony X700 blue ray player. Only Xfinity DVR works which is 1080p/60Hz. With the Denon the Integral 2 works great with any kind of source. I'm using an Integral2 but mine is feeding the input of my XMC.

I actually got into the media room a few times in the past week and a half or so. Twice no picture on the TV and switching inputs got it back. Last night nothing I did worked: switching inputs, pulling and reinserting cables, power cycling the TV, nada. Finally did a cold boot of the XMC-1 and everything works as before. It looks like you really need to do a cold boot of the thing once or twice a month. Wish they could fix the "double-tapping" of the amplifiers during a cold boot; I really hate the way they are powered on by the trigger circuit, only to power down a little later, then back on again a few seconds after that. Hard on electronics.
The good news is the very nasty strange power cycling it did a few weeks ago has not repeated. Stil befuddled by that. I will say Keith got back and stayed in touch on that one, with a promise to make it right, but since it has not repeated I'm hoping it was a one-shot event.
I suspect they are consumed with the RMC-1, preparing it for Axpona, and hoping we all go away...

I suspect they are consumed with the RMC-1, preparing it for Axpona, and hoping we all go away... I'm using a ET-3 Trigger expansion module to turn ON my Emo amps and I mentioned that a few weeks ago I had a power cyclin issue that got fixed by itself. Well, last week woke up just to see my amps power cycling like crazy again. Unplugged the ET-3 and all went back to normal. Plugged it back, power cycling issues. I had a ET-3 brand new for backup so replaced the faulty one (just the ET-3 module) and the power cycling issue was back again. So at that point I thought it was the XMC-1, but it was not. Took the ET-3 out of the rack with its AC adapter and the power cycling issue was present out of the rack too. Put the AC adapter of the new ET-3 on the faulty ET-3 and voila, problem fixed. The issue was a faulty ET-3 AC power adapter.

I have an ET-3 but it is not in the system. That is very good information, however! A lot of the cheap wall-wart power supplies are very poor designs.

Reminder: I was able to use Keith's advice to hold the front panel power button down until the relay (or whatever) clicked and it shut down, though the front yellow ring was still lit. Then a press of the power button again brought it back to life (after a bit of a wait, natch). No crawling around back to find the power switch! I really appreciate that; it is hard to get back there through the speakers and feel through all the wires to flip the switch on the back.

My problems with HDMI sync seem to be getting more frequent over time. I'm sure they're busy with AXPONA, but I'd love an update on the firmware they mentioned testing earlier in this thread.

Best of luck to you and all the others with getting the handshake issues resolved. I reached the end of my patience with this issue and migrated my system to an Anthem AVM 60. Decided I no longer wanted a piece of recreational equipment that was a continual source of aggravation - already get more than enough of that at work every day.

Same here. After a cold reboot things get better. For a while... I'm back to having to do a hard boot every few days.

Mine has been steady for the last couple of weeks. My main issue now is that the center channel does not come on when I fire up the system. I have to toggle the speaker preset to preset 1 or 2 and then back to Dirac. Not a huge deal, but weird. I still love the XMC-1. Just would be nice for these sync issues to be resolved.

My fellow Oppo beta tester Bob Pariseau had an excellent description of HDMI (on the AVSForum UPD-205 thread): Yes, I have to that, as someone who's worked for 10+ years in High-Speed Ethernet (10Gb/s, 40Gb./s, and not 100Gb/s (with 25Gb/s lanes)), as well as PCIe 3.0 (8GT/s) and now 4.0 (16GT/s), where all the companies strive for an absolutely error/hassle-free experience, I'm always shocked at how bad HDMI is at far lower bandwidths and frequencies. HDMI is a mess, no doubt. OTOH it is about ten months since I installed the v3 board and it is still buggy. Had to cold boot again last night. I've pretty much given up hope of a fix short of a new processor.

I've pretty much given up hope of a fix short of a new processor. Check Lonnie's last post on RMC-1 thread regarding Video issues. Most likely they would bring the same fix to the XMC-1 which means an option on the Input menu to select between HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 which would be done per input/source. Interesting when he mentioned that they tested a competition receiver with same Panasonic chips (most likely Denon/Marantz) and that receiver showed the same video issues as the RMC-1. I have a Marantz SR6013 and a Denon X6500H here in my house and both of them works perfectly, without a single glitch with any source, new or legacy, HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0.

Agreed... my AV7703 gets along just fine using the same components, cables and settings that are in use with my XMC-1. Nothing changes "except" the processor. The XMC-1's v3 HDMI board has gotten much better over time, but the Marantz has always worked without a hiccup... makes me wonder who that "competitor" really is. EDIT: On another note, I just read Lonnie's post in the RMC-1 thread. Since all of my sources are HDMI 2.0 compatible, my assessment may not be equal to what they have tested and may explain why I have not experienced some of the issues that others have. Having said that, hopefully this new "feature" will bring a long awaited fix for all users.

This is very disappointing not hearing anything about a fix to the sync issue. I’m trying to be patient but not having any new firmware fixes or replies from Emotiva does not give me confidence in them. My wife is about to smash our XMC to pieces when two or three times a week she has to switch inputs back and fourth to get the sound to work properly.

My wife wouldn't allow it. Maybe you could re-purpose it for a patio music pre. I know that stings but what else is it good for? Garage?

I’m trying to be patient but not having any new firmware fixes or replies from Emotiva does not give me confidence in them. My wife is about to smash our XMC to pieces when two or three times a week she has to switch inputs back and fourth to get the sound to work properly. Below is an excerpt from a post Lonnie made in the RMC-1 thread a few days ago. I have redacted the RMC-1 specific subject matter and emboldened a part of his statement that will also pertain directly to the XMC-1. Can we have an update from Lonnie. Thx. Hello All, Sorry for being absent for a while. So many things going on, so little time. I know everyone is anxious to get the latest code so let me give you guys a little recap of what has been going on. ..... Video. This has been a roller coaster of a ride. As it turns out HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 are not as backward compatible as they should be. The HDCP 2.2 code does not play well with older gear. After a boat load of internal work we finally had to go back to Panasonic directly on this and get them to write a fix for it. The fix they sent us did indeed fix 1.4 HDMI devices but completely screwed up 2.0 devices. So we have written our own code that will allow you to select 2.0 or 1.4 per input. That way if you run into a compatibility issue, you can go into the setup and lock a particular input to which ever format you want it to run in. As a side note, during our testing on this we hooked up competitors receivers (that were using the same Panasonic chips) to see how well they were handling this and to my surprise, the ones we tested just refuse to work on legacy gear AT ALL. While this does'nt help you guys, it at least goes to show we aren't alone in our struggle. Adding in the option for either 1.4 or 2.0 means a rewrite of the menu and the back end code for it as well as a lot of HDMI management handling. This is currently being tested and carefully examined. The potential for causing other issues a very high...... Getting back on topic, if the new beta passes muster then we will release 1.3 next week and the current plan is to release 1.4 roughly a week later which will have the HDMI fixes in it. By releasing them individually there is a greater potential for success. Best regards, Lonnie Now I know he mentions this as a “video” issue (and yours is audio), but keep in mind that these are both related to a successful “handshake” between the components. So, if you’re finding that your TiVO, for example, is having the most issues, then assigning and locking its input at HDMI 1.4 may solve the problem. Hopefully, you’ll find out soon...
