I just upgraded my display to an LG C9 which is an HDMI 2.1 and the switching is much faster. There is a preamble where nothing visible occurs followed by a 2 second blanking.
The transitions are definitely smoother.

Updated to 5.8 this morning and i found that the Front Bright setting keeps defaulting back to 80% when i shut off the system. Anyone else see this, can test this and if so then i/we can contact support. Not a big deal but its something.

Updated to 5.8 last night without issue. Have not run enough to know if any change. Wish they would provide a list of what was fixed/updated!

I did not notice brightness levels varying but not something I tend to notice. The delay switching inputs seems about the same as before (about 12 seconds)

While watching TiVo, when I switch to Optical-1 the video feed no longer blanks during switching, so this is an improvement. This blanking would happen under FW5.6.

I am setup to standby - lowest power and when i hit standby on the remote and then turn the unit back on it resets the value back to 80% every time. I have not done a factory reset for the current firmware yet and i really dont want to with it work but i may soon. Its not a big deal but it is a thing. Maybe monday i FR so i can enjoy all day sunday lol

One issue just popped up again, "Slow Mode". With some previous FW, and now FW5.8, upon startup, things happen so delayed and slow. When a command is initiated, either from the remote or using the front panel buttons, the XMC-1 does not respond for as much as a couple minutes, but when it does respond it remembers most of the buttons I pressed. So if I change the volume then once the XMC-1 starts responding and altering the volume, it does so 1 . . . step . . . at . . . a . . . time, and it takes several seconds for each 1dB step.
The only fix is to press the front panel power button for more than the usual 4 seconds, because the XMC-1 is now in slow-mode, and force a shutdown, then wait a little, then restart, then it's happy - yippee!

Strange; I did not have that problem.
And apologies as I forgot to check the brightness setting last night (was not using it long, just watching a ball game on TV). My is normally set to 50% or so and I did not notice it being brighter. Will try to look again today.

Forgot to mention, my Brightness Setting remains at the level I choose. No poltergeist here.

For what it's worth, I saved my settings to a thumb drive, did a factory reset, and restored the settings. Moving from HLG HDR to plain HDTV (1080i/p) is more assured now (I had to do a complete power recycle on everything a few times before these actions).
Keep in mind that I've had my XMC-1 for a long time, with much use, and had never done a factory reset. Entropy is a PITA.

My brightness is at 20%, unchanged from where it has been. Suggest trying a cold reboot, then factory reset, then reloading FW to see if the problem goes away.

You know what, its just a thing i noticed since the latest firmware update i did and since my system is otherwise working great i will hold off on doing anything at this point. I was just curious if it was mine or if anyone else noticed it so we could pass this on to emotiva support.

Has anyone been able to use an HDFury Vertex downstream from their XMC? I've been unable to pass any 4k or 1080p signal through my vertex to my JVC RS540. Normally, this is a "problem solver" sort of device in addition to an HDMI scaler/splitter. My goal is to send the picture to both the JVC projector and my older Panasonic AE8000. I've been able to use it when attached to my Oppo directly, but it refuses to pass anything other than a black screen when the XMC is part of the equation. Granted, it isn't always perfect... I think I still need to configure the EDIDs because the JVC is slow to announce it's capabilities compared to the Panasonic. So if the Panny is connected first, the Oppo will only send a 1080p signal... but if I start w/ the JVC then power up the Panasonic afterwards, it works. And by works, I mean I was able to get 4k 4:4:4 HDR content to the JVC while getting a 4:4:4 1080p on the other. The Vertex can't convert/truncate the bit depth, just scales the resolution. Did you (or anyone else) ever get the Vertex working downstream from the XMC-1? I'm considering picking up a Vertex to put right before my JVC X790r to adjust gamma curves based on content from ALL sources. No splitting or stripping, just automating gamma curve selection. Thanks!

Updated to 5.8 this morning and i found that the Front Bright setting keeps defaulting back to 80% when i shut off the system. Anyone else see this, can test this and if so then i/we can contact support. Not a big deal but its something. Decided to do a factory reset on this thing to see if the front bright settings would save and after getting it back up I see that it did fix it. After messing around with it I see nothing else has changed for the good or bad so Im good to go. Now that ive done that it should be time for the emotiva guys to release another firmware lol.

I've been having an issue with Lip Sync since FW5.8.
Since I've been using a projector for the last couple years I haven't had any problem with lip sync. Lip sync was something that had to be chased when I had my plasma connected, so the lip sync needed to be delayed. The problem I've been having on some channels since FW5.8 is that the lip sync can't go below Zero so no matter what the video is always a tiny bit ahead of the audio, so I would need to delay the video.
On most channels the sync is really, really close when set to Zero. But on some sports channels and especially some network channels which are more out of sync, it's a problem.
Anyone else notice this?
