I tried the 5.1 firmware, and the LG firmware update to 4.71.0. My ATV 4K is still giving me a pink screen in either 1080p or 4K Dolby Vision. I have tried many combinations of cables, HDMI inputs, and HDMI outputs. I am using 4K60 HDR 4:2:2 in the meantime, so I will have to wait for another update to get Dolby Vision working.

While waiting for DV fixes, I have also noticed that CEC doesn't work at all. My ATV remote was once capable of controlling the volume on my XMC-1, but it no longer works. I have CEC enabled on the TV and on the XMC-1. On the Apple TV the "Control TVs and Receivers" is stuck at "Off" and says it needs to be enabled on TVs and receivers. It looks like the ATV is not finding CEC capable devices on the bus.

I have an LG OLED C6 and my ATV 4K has been working flawlessly under the 5.1 firmware and using HDMI Output 2 from the XMC-1. Here’s my ATV 4K “Video and Audio” settings if you’d like to give them a try... Format = 4K SDR HDMI Output = YCbCr Chroma = 4:2:0 Match Content = Range & Frame Rate (both “on”) Using these settings, all three formats (SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision) works perfectly and seems to be the most efficient way to set up the ATV 4K without the risk of “black crush” or improper tone mapping. As for audio settings, since the ATV decodes internally and outputs only uncompressed PCM (up to 7.1) or re-encoded DD 5.1, you’ll get your best results by using “Best Quality Available”. All else is left at their default settings. Hope this helps...

Then the ATV 4K will test your HDMI cable to see if it's capable to do 4:2:2 chroma subsampling. If test fails, then ATV 4K will go back to 4:2:0 chroma.

It was HDMI Output 1 on the old board. I can’t get ARC to work either, but have always had problems with it on my XMC-1. In contrast, it worked effortlessly on my 7703...

Yes, good call on the ARC port. Unfortunately I have tried both HDMI output 1 and 2 and neither of them are working with CEC.
Also, I can get 4K60 SDR working, and 4K60 HDR (4:2:0, and 4:2:2), just not 4K60 (or 1080p60) Dolby Vision.

First thing I do as soon I get a new TV set, receiver/processor or video source is to turn OFF anything that is ARC/CEC related. CEC and HDCP are the cause of 95% HDMI handshake issues. I have never used CEC/ARC and I have zero intentions to ever use it. To me is like a non existent technology.

This is the picture I am getting with Dolby Vision enabled. There seems to be a color space conversion issue on the input side, because the UI overlay doesn't get the purple picture treatment. It is also incorrectly thinking the color space is RGB 4:4:4 (and SDR). See below -

I did get my ATV 4K to see DV on my Sony X930E connected in HDMI OUT 2 of the XMC-1 but the XMC-1 showed SDR, same for the X930E. I'm guessing this is because the 50' Monoprice HOSS Active HDMI Cable I was using. That's why I ordered today the Emotiva 4K HDMI Extender. According to Lonnie, it works in their lab with DV content flawlessly.

It is also incorrectly thinking the color space is RGB 4:4:4 (and SDR). See below - I did get the right colors (not the red picture you are getting) when select DV on ATV 4K but the colors looked washed out and the XMC-1 was showing SDR, like yours.

I certainly don’t disagree, but until recently, Vudu did not support UHD on the ATV 4K. So, using the internal Vudu app on my LG and sending audio back to my 7703 via ARC was the best solution (without running an additional 30 foot optical cable). So, sometimes my enemy’s enemy is my best friend...

I have a Samsung 4KTV so no DV, which rules out some of the issues, just HDR to optimise. Cheers Gary

More info - The LG TV remote is able to control the XMC-1 via CEC and ARC. But the ATV remote will control neither.

I self installed. Everything was working fine. Today... all sound is PCM 2.0 and it won't even output a signal through the Red Out at the back so I can listen using headphones.
I know it's technology and all that.... but I feel like a beta tester and I'm p****d off that I can't watch a movie without turning it up and having that PCM stereo wake my neighbors.
What the hell happened? One say it's okay and the next it isn't. Is it sun related? Now I can see myself shipping it to the factory.
I'll call tomorrow. Lovely folks at Emotiva... but man, I hope I'm the only one that gets PCM stereo bricked.
If I'm doing something stupid... chime in and tell me.

Did you reinstall the firmware again after installing the board...? That has worked for many of us, myself included, who have experienced these odd issues.

I recently purchased a new LG OLED TV and plan to buy the V3 HDMI video board soon. Since some of the options like OSD color and wide format aren't available, it's got me concerned about another setting. I need to know if the secondary volume setting is still an option with the 5.1 firmware. Secondary volume can be found under Setup - Preferences - Secondary Volume.
Within secondary volume there are two settings, normal and high. With my new OLED I need to use the high setting to get a reasonable volume level out of the TV speakers. Can someone with 5.1 firmware check and let me know what you find?
Thanks in advance.

Apple TV 4K users should watch this first. We should NOT be forcing HDR (ok for checking) but having SDR always forced converted to HDR can produce weird results.
