Just a repost from yesterday incase some missed it.
General update here.
We have addressed pretty much all the things that have been brought up with the individual customers. Now there is still a few things we are following up on.
Direct TV. We have new hardware coming in so we can test.
Bit depth resolution on the front panel. Right now we are reading the info frames for this information and for the most part that works, but in special cases it gets it wrong. So we are looking into this.
Looking into the XBOX as well.
The Apple TV is a real puzzle. It works just fine here, so far we haven't been able to figure out why a couple of people are having trouble. But we are working on it and have a theory on what is going on.
So if you run into any kind of weirdness with the above, just know we are working on it.
Oh one other thing. Computer video cards are a whole other issue. We are preparing a post to explain what 18 gig is and what is supported within that frame work that I think will help.

The 2016 OLEDs support DV at 30Hz and the 2017 and 2018 support DV at 60hz.

Lonnie Lonnie, what's your take on auto audio sync? Some have a setting, some don't. I don't. It seems people running 5.1 get two different screens. Also, what are the differences between HDMI out 1 and 2? Again, some reporting different things depending on which HDMI out is being used. Thanks..

OK the mysterious disappearing/ reappearing "Auto" lip sync setting.
So here is the deal. If your TV reports it has an Auto setting then the XMC-1 will show it in the menu. If your TV does not report that it has a specific Auto mode for lip sync, then it is removed from the menu.
In all cases, the lip sync is always defaulted to Auto based on the timing of the display.

We are all stumped as to why reloading the code does anything at all. At least in theory, that should not be needed and even if done should not make any difference, but this is where theory and reality depart. While I don't have an explanation as to why, if it works it works. Lonnie OK Lonnie, here is what I just found out. In this picture I had the Sony VPL-HW40ES projector (1080p) on HDMI OUT 2 and the LG 27UK650 Monitor (4K/HDR) on HDMI OUT 1. As you can see only the Sony HW40ES is showing OSD when there is no active signal coming in: View AttachmentIn this picture I switched HDMI outs and the Sony projector is on HDMI OUT 1 and the LG 27UK650 on HDMI OUT 2. Now I get OSD on the LG 27UK650 and no OSD on the Sony projector. This is still with no video signal coming in: View AttachmentIn this picture I have video signal coming in and I get OSD on both displays: View AttachmentHere is with the Sony HW40ES projector disconnected and the LG 27UK650 on HDMI OUT 2. No video signal coming in: View AttachmentHere is with the Sony HW40ES projector disconnected and the LG 27UK650 on HDMI OUT 1. No video signal coming in: View AttachmentIn conclusion, there is no OSD on HDMI OUT 1 when there is no active signal coming in. Right now, if you have one display only, you should connect it on HDMI OUT 2 in order to get OSD on inputs with no active video signal coming in. OK so here is the deal with the OSD and no video. After doing some checks what we found is the Chip will only output OSD on the primary output if there is no video present. Panasonic (the makers of the chip) informed us that this is a limitation of the chip itself. So if you are going to be using a particular input that has no video and you want to see the OSD, then be sure that your TV is connected to the primary output. Lonnie

Occasionally, the front panel display include the volume level numeric but not the word "Volume", other times it is displayed.

By the way, and strictly from a Human Factors User Interface perspective, generally, this isn't a great metaphor for people to understand. It leads to varying UI geometry, navigation stumbling, etc. It's generally better to leave non-applicable menu elements within a menu and simply "gray them out". Generally. Casey

Yes, good call on the ARC port. Unfortunately I have tried both HDMI output 1 and 2 and neither of them are working with CEC. Also, I can get 4K60 SDR working, and 4K60 HDR (4:2:0, and 4:2:2), just not 4K60 (or 1080p60) Dolby Vision. Still the same problem I'm experiencing. No ARC, no Dolby Vision. Works when directly connected to the TV, so it's definitely the XMC. Dolby Vision on ATV shows supported, but doesn't show on the XMC and the colors are very muted when selected from the Video settings page. When I force SDR or regular HDR, things look great.

Lonnie, I will be out of the country for 2 weeks starting tomorrow but if we're still having ATV DV issues when I return I would be happy to take the XMC-1 into the office for any debug info you need. We have HDMI protocol and compliance tools, CEC analyzers, and HDCP analyzers here (and we have a C7 OLED) so I can provide pretty much anything you need to help debug this.

If we are still having issues, I would very much appreciate any additional info you could offer. While I suspect we have pretty much the same tools, that doesn't mean we will come to the same conclusions. What I mean is if we haven't resolved it by the time you get back, you might see exactly what we are missing and an additional pair of eyes on this is always appreciated. DV can use one of two different identifiers and I suspect the ATV is using the second and we are just not picking up on it. Right now that is just a theory which we are trying to prove one way or the other. Lonnie

Lonnie I was thinking we should be using HDMI 2 as the first output by default, both to have ARC if desired, and to deal with the issues enricoclaudio has identified; but what is the definition of the "Primary Output"?

Direct to display is fine. I did ask if any XBox S or X users are seeing any issues but I haven't seen any feedback posted here.

My grandsons decided they'd rather have it hooked up in their "sleepover" room. I'm not big into gaming and I don't need the additional streaming services, so that's where I left it. I'll hook it up and report back if I see any glaring issues...

I believe the Xbox and PS4 have the same issue which I also believe we have resolved and will be posting a beta on later today. I just want a little more time in the lab with it. Lonnie Attachments:

Lonnie I'm confused by this explanation. If I plug my projector into output 1, I get auto lip sync options. If I plug my projector into output 2, no auto lip sync options. I only did this as a very quick and dirty test (I didn't bother turning my projector back on to test output 2), so maybe it's my methodology. Also, any more details on the issues with video cards? I'm still quite concerned about your final statement on this subject, as it's a big deal for me...

For those of you that already have 5.1 loaded and are having problems getting 4k on game consoles or HTPC, please try the attached. I had to zip it to fit withing the attachment limits. Be sure to unzip it first. This will load much faster than a normal update because it is only loading one piece of firmware. Please post your results.
Thanks, Ray

So I'm guessing "Primary Output" is HDMI OUT 2 (ARC) because that's the one with OSD when no active signal is coming in.
