Now i noticed that i can’t select English 5.1 dts HD Master Audio from the movie Hostiles UHD. Should I do a factory reset on the XMC with my current configuration. New board and all?

Honestly, this thing is a computer in a different box. Reset it to full factory and then set things the way you like them and then use your current Dirac file. I do this when i update my Oppo 203 as well, clean slate.

Let me know when you guys get all the kinks worked out, and how ARC is working with Samsungs.

Well I will have to talk to tech support. I know have the Dolby symbol 5.1 on the XMC with various movies. That’s an improvement but 7.1 and dts hd are not options anymore in any mode.

Have you tried any of what is suggested. The point of asking for help is to try and follow suggestions and then when someone else has similar issues they have a resource at their disposal. Everyone here wants you to have a fully functioning processor and they are sharing their knowledge so you can achieve your goals. So if anything that was suggested was done and it helped please tell us what you have or have not tried.

Well, it looks like my XMC-1 might be bricked. At the end of the firmware installation, I had the "err: init HDSB82" error message someone else reported previously. Per Lonnie's suggestion, I shut down the XMC-1, and proceeded to install the HDMI board as instructed. After getting the board installed, I turned the XMC-1 back on, and at the end of the boot cycle, I still see the same message. I've tried power cycling it several times (both by holding down the power button, and flipping the rocker in the back) - no joy. Once the error message comes up, I can't get into the menu to try a factory reset, or try reinstalling the firmware. I've left it on for about half an hour now, hoping it would keep chugging, and finally start working, but nothing. I'll call Emo in the morning to see if they have any suggestions. Unless they've got a magic trick up their sleeve, my guess is I'm shipping this back to the mothership <sigh>. No theater for me tonight. Edit: In case anyone's curious, I had firmware 4.1 installed before installing 5.0.

I have done a factory restore on the oppo. I ensured that there is no hdmi cable out of the audio output on the oppo. The secondary audio on the oppo is set to off. The oppo HDMI audio format is on bitstream. The firmware on oppo is the latest UDP20X-56-0224. The XMC has firmware 5.0. Any other suggestions are welcomed.

OK guys, here is my initial report after doing the install according to Emotiva Installation Guide: Hi guys, After installing the V3 HDMI board I found several issues. Let me describe my system: Processor: XMC-1 with V3 Upgrade Amplifiers: XPA-3 + 2 x XPA-200 Speakers: Ascend Acoustics Sierra Towers + Horizon Center + Sierra 2s + Sierra Lunas. Subwoofers: 2 x Rythmik Audio F12SEs. ATV 4K Oppo 203 (with latest official firmware, not beta firmware) Xfinity HD DVR XBOX 360 Bluesound Node 2 Projector: Sony VPL-HW40ES Monitor: LG 27UK650 (4K-HDR Monitor) HDMI Cables: Monoprice Certified Premium. Here is my report of all sources: 1.- I'm getting HDR out of the ATV 4K up to Chroma 4:2:2 using a 50' Monoprice HOSS Active 18Gbps HDMI Cable, so actives cables work with the new V3 Board. I'm also getting DD 5.1 out of ATV 4K, so ATV 4K Checks. 2.- I'm getting video but no audio out of Oppo 203, Sony X700 UHD player and Sony S6700 Blue Ray player. Basically, can't play any physical media. I did try 5 different HDMI cables (Monoprice Certified Premium, Amazon Basics, Blue Rigger, Oppo Certified Premium and another generic one). The Oppo 203 is useless to the point that if I switch to UHD when the LG HDR monitor is connected (Sony projector unplugged), the signal shows HDR and the monitor shows HDR but then the player freezes and still no sound. 3.- I'm getting video 1080p from XBOX 360 but only PCM 2.0 no matter the content I play. 4.- I'm getting audio out of Bluesound Node 2 plugged into Analog 1 input. 5.- I'm getting video 1080p out of my Xfinity HD DVR but only PCM 2.0 no matter the channel. I was getting DD 5.1 with the old HDMI board. Things that I have tried: 1.- Unplugged the secondary monitor and leave the Sony 1080p projector only. Still no sound out of any disc player over HDMI, no matter the content (DVD, CD, UHD discs, streaming services, etc) 2.- Plugged the disc players into different inputs, same result. 3.- Plugged ATV 4K in Oppo 203 input and I get video and DD 5.1 sound, so it's not a bad input. 4.- I restored my settings from USB backup, still no sound out of disc players. 5.- Found that speakers levels on my Dirac Preset were changed after firmware update, even after restoring from USB backup. I had to changed them manually. Now, here is my updated report after second install of V5.0 firmware: 1.- I'm getting sound from all sources with the correct sound mode (DD 5.1, DTS-MA 7.1, DTS 5.1, Dolby True HD, etc) 2.- I'm getting full HDR 4:2:2 from ATV 4K and DD 5.1. 3.- I'm getting all sound formats from Oppo 203 and HDR 4:4:4 8bits @ 24fps as well. 4.- I'm getting all sound formats from Sony X700 and HDR as well. 5.- No lag when calling info or volume bar. It behaves exactly the same on HDR, SDR, 4K and 1080p, same as the old HDMI 1.4 board. Surfing on the Menu behaves the same as with the old HDMI 1.4 board, meaning no lag. There is an increase in lag when switching inputs but in my case only with audio, not video. 6.- I cannot test DV because I have no DV support on my projector, nor on my HDR monitor. 7.- XMC-1 iOS app works perfect, same as with the old HDMI board. So my recommendation is: Install again the V5.0 firmware after the installation of the V3 HDMI Board. This would fix most of the issues we have been reporting.

I can concur.. getting 7.1 and 5.1 out of the Oppo 203 through the new board. Am seeing Dolby Vision on movies the have it... I get a flag on my LG OLED< and the XMC info windows shows Dolby Vision.
SACD discs play fine as well... I did not experience any level changes in speakers after the update.. but will check with a level meter to be sure. Nothing obvious.

I built my first computer, more than 27 years ago, at the age of 13. I only point this out because the XMC-1 is essentially a computer, and that makes it doubly embarrassing that I made a rookie mistake, and then came to post about it on this board without checking my work first. I plugged all the ribbon cables in, but forgot about the power molex. No wonder the XMC-1 couldn't recognize the HDMI board - it wasn't getting any power. Anyway, the moral of this story is double check your work, and if something goes wrong, always assume user error first.

Hope they can turn it around fast for you... mine seems pretty healthy... all media playing well through it.. audio and video... it's shame HDMI is such a hot steaming mess.. the world would be a better place without having to worry about media compatibility, turn on order, etc etc.

I know a few of you have gotten the "err: init HDSB82" message, and I know Lonnie's suggestion probably works most of the time, but to avoid getting this error, make sure once you've started the firmware upgrade file and it finishes and the power button goes "Amber", shut the power off at the "Rocker Switch" on the back left of the XMC-1. At this point, you should be swapping out HDMI boards, and once the V3 board is installed and you double-checked everything like "bluescale" has suggested, then and only then should you turn the "Rocker Switch" back on and press the "Amber" power button on the front of the XMC-1.

I'll point out that when I did the firmware update the first time, it never shut itself off. At the end of the firmware update, it popped the "err: init HDSB82" message. The progress bar moved just a little bit more before eventually crawling to a stop. I let it sit for more half an hour after I got that message, to see if it would eventually turn itself back off like after a normal firmware update. It didn't so I finally turned it off like Lonnie suggested, and proceeded with the update.

That makes sense. The first time it did not quiet take and all the instructions were followed to the T. I was experiencing also experiencing a lag on the volume with the display volume and actual sound on the XMC but all been fixed. I also found a random typo in the XMC settings when I was reconfiguring all my settings and nomenclatures for my inputs but I don’t remember where it was. I believe it was stereo was misspelled somewhere but it is all good. Thanks everyone for your inputs and helping me out.
