I have the iFi PSU. It definitely has a different sonic signature than the Teddy Pardo I also have. The iFi is a little harsher in the treble. I can say that I enjoy rock music more through it. The iFi has more PRAT. The Teddy Pardo is much smoother in the teble. Sounds much better for Jazz. What I don't like is that my MicroRendu runs at a higher temperature with the iFi. The mR is very hot to the touch when I used the iFi with the mR. In doing research this has something to do with the USB implementation of the DAC and I have not tried it with EITR. I always have a small fan on the MR 24/7.

pedrocols I'd try one but when I hear USB, I think eww-SB. My heart is set on an AES connection from my computer. Gotta have that fully balanced!

Hi Gar: Would you fancy using one of these converters? These days, there are several different kinds/brands at different price points : This one is very popular with audiophiles, but quite steeply priced, unfortunately:

But my issue is that they start off USB. If they started off USB, I don't see any reason not to just use USB.

If they started off USB, I don't see any reason not to just use USB. I see, if you want to cut out all USB-type connectivity from the equation, then gadgets like the newly released Metrum Amber (<< link>>), and reviewed here (<< link>>) and other such thingamabobs might be right up your alley: It is a network bridge/Roon endpoint which connects to your Router's ethernet LAN connection and pushes the signal on to your DAC via AES/EBU...

More listening...comments live as I listen: Linda Ronstadt has an amazing voice, but many recordings don't bring it out. On Heart Like a Wheel, "You're No Good" and "When Will I be Loved" typically have her sounding more like a backup singer than the lead. Suddenly she's more forward. Sounds good! More as I listen to others.

"Just one look" sounds likes she's whispering in my ear. Nice. "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" sounds like she's right here in the honky tonk. All the depth of her voice is here. Still wish the engineer had pushed her vocals more over the instruments, but better than usual sound.

Now Carole King...Tapestry. Again, a great voice usually mixed a bit "behind" the instruments. "So Far Away" brings her more forward and adds more clarity to the instruments. And again - sounds like she just whispered in my ear at about 2 minutes in.
And, "I feel the Earth Move"...there she is! So clear and forward! Again, like with Linda - the full depth of her voice is present. And, "You've Got a Friend"? And "Will You Love Me Tomorrow"? Shut the front door...nice.
Wow.

Jackson Browne's "Fountain of Sorrow" is showing a similar trend vs. Linda Ronstadt and Carole King. Voices that sounded a bit compressed are more freely unleashed. And, along with that, the instrumental detail gains more clarity.
Same is true on "Rock Me on the Water" Even Jackson's little chuckle at ~37 seconds has more detail. And "Doctor My Eyes"...vocals and piano get unleashed. Again, he kind of chuckles at ~1:20 as he sings. I had never noticed that.

Bob Dylan Unplugged has never sounded bad, but "John Brown" sure does sound great now. Same for "Desolation Row". Just so much more detail.

Wait until you go back to the old setup. It will not last long.
The Rendu products are just that much better.
I have some Keb Mo running right now and it’s like he is in the room.

See my update re. the Roon negatives in the 1st post (bold red font). Can another Roon user see if they can find Oscar Peterson Trio's "We Get Request" via Roon? DYohn wilburthegoose sahmen or others? Maybe I am just doing something stupid. But, it's really annoying that I can find it on Tidal with my PC and my phone but not on Roon. It makes me wonder what else I might not find. Thanks, Mark

There is a software upgrade for the 2.6 version just in case yours still has the 2.5.

If I look to the "tidal albums", it doesn't show up. (When I search for an artist, Roon is showing me ones in my Library and ones in Tidal. And, Tidal and my NAS are the only 2 sources I have Roon looking to right now.) Do you have a version in your person library or can you figure out where it's coming from to show up outside of Tidal? Thanks! Mark

Here's a screen shot of it: It says "New" in the top left-hand corner of the album, because I just added it to my Roon library from Tidal. Roon won't mark it as "New" if I had it in my local files.,

Just went back to your PM on the topic. Going to try that again - might not have followed it correctly.
