Did Emotiva say if end users will be able to install the expansion modules? If we cannot do that having to ship the RMC-1 back to TN would neuter sales to this crowd until the new year assuming they meet the Jan 1 target.

Mark, this picture here. Actually, I'm thinking this is pure mock up. Otherwise would not the modules have male XLR connections just like the main 16 channels? That's what I was thinking... Maybe this is the 7.1 analog in that people are clamoring for. 😊

I sure hope I can install an expansion module myself. Otherwise I wait and at this rate it may roll to late 2019 for the module releases...

For the RMC-1 crowd. Mark, this picture here. Actually, I'm thinking this is pure mock up. Otherwise would not the modules have male XLR connections just like the main 16 channels? Thanks! That's the pic I recall. I kept scrolling past it not noticing the RMC-1 was sitting on the top. Re. whether it can handle 2 or 3 of the 4-channel expansion slots, I'm not making too much out of only the 2 slots being filled. As you said, it's likely just a mock-up anyway. As far as whether they can handle processing power for 24 vs. 28, we'll see. Between the on-board processing on each expansion board + the possibility that the RMC-1 might now include more powerful processing on the main board than when Lonnie made the quote...it may very well be able to handle 28. Frankly, for me - that's a moot point as I doubt I will EVER put 20, 24, or 28 channels in my home theater! Now, if I win the lottery...different story because my new house will include the most kick-a$$ home theater I could imagine! I do wonder if the additional processing power mentioned re. the RMC-1 vs. the RMC-2 relates to potential for more channels...hmmm... Mark

I'm stuck at 7.3.6 unless I win the lottery too. Yes, that's exactly what I think the difference in processing power is about.

I agree. The XMC-2 asthetics are not as good as the XMC-1, and in turn the RMC-2 looks far better than the XMC-1. In my opinion of course. YMMV RMC-2 for me, even though I don't need the extra channels etc. It just looks the part. Maybe if the control on the XMC was bigger it would look more balanced

Anyone who knows how the remote control will look like for the RMC-1?

After the sound quality..... it is totally about the aesthetics... the really cool factor and the RMC-2 definitely has it. in fact, i think it looks sexier than the RMC-1. and like timster, i will most likely never need all of those channels unless i can secretly install speakers into the living room ceiling and repair all the plaster and holes in the walls i made while my wife is out getting her hair done. tchaik........

It really looks like Emotiva’s XMC-2 is the existing XMC-1 with a slightly different display with the Atmos upgrade. Also a slight change in the back with the extra XLR outputs. My hunch is that it’s not using the new architecture...they saved that for the RMC-2 and RMC-1. If what I think is true it’s a no brainer on what I’m getting. Still I’m not considering the RMC-1 bc it’s too expensive and I don’t care about all channels balanced - the Front 3 is sufficient for me as those are my best speakers. The fact that Emotiva has Theta’s engineer developing these pre-pros, we are guaranteed quality. We are also guaranteed delays but that’s what the Theta folks have experienced all these years as well. You get the good with the bad. 😊

Mark The Silver Knob Edition seems to be more an Onkyo thing, now the Blue Knob Edition is where it's at and please don't confuse it with the Blue Balls Edition that's not related to Audio at all, I can't confirm the cost of the Blue Knob Edition though as I heard it will be very rare Chad

Less buttons provide a cleaner faceplate and room for a larger display. All good. It makes sense to equip the XMC-2 with similar and compatible parts to the RMC-1. I'll bet they are more alike than different. - Rich

Well I must have no brain because I'm not sure which you've chosen. From your comments I'd say the RMC-2, but it is fully balanced on all channels like the RMC-1, the XMC-2 is LCR balanced. So ... what's it gonna be boy? X or R?

Where did they mention the RMC-2 is fully balanced? Quick question. On your guy’s XMC-1 using zone 2 with the follow main option does the volume sync with your main zone?

Hhmmm, I thought the XMC-2 was only supposed to be Fully Balanced on the front three channels ...
Regardless, what we really need is a comparison chart from Emotiva ...
