Are you freakin kidding me?! What the hell is that even? It sounds like you’re at a diner working in the kitchen when the orders come in. Is this for real or are you just playing a joke? NOT a joke!!!! This is real. rhale64 had this same issue. From what I remember it's something like the Dolby decoder chip and if a licensing code of something isn't loaded/removed, it will ding like that every 60 seconds to ensure the chips aren't sold by companies who don't pay that licensing fee. So now I get to exchange my RMC for my fourth unit. Honestly, this is getting to be a little much. Your patience is amazing to me honestly.

To be honest, I'm not sure why I haven't gone scorched earth on Emotiva yet. Likely because I know I will lose the value of my 40% off card and have to pay return shipping if I end this trial period of owning a RMC.
This is the third RMC that has been sent to me. It was sent after I posed a very serious question to Emotiva asking if they were unable to reproduce the same issues I experience while using some of the equipment I own and sent to them for testing, is my RMC defective or what is causing the difference. After a day or so I received a phone call from Damen telling me they were going to swap out my RMC. Damen told me over the phone I should not do anything except unplug all devices and box up only the RMC. I should not send any cables or accessories. This was similar to the first RMC I needed to return so I sent back only the processor and I expected to receive only a processor. It all made sense to me. I was told once they received an email that the tracking information showed the RMC was on it's way back to Franklin they wold ship out my replacement.
I shipped my RMC back to Emotiva on Monday. On Wednesday I received an email from UPS that my package had been delivered to Emotiva. I had not heard anything from Emotiva regarding my replacement RMC that should have already shipped to me. I sent an email asking for a tracking number and I was given this reply in return.
I was unaware a hold was placed on my credit card and I am not sure why I needed a hold against my credit card since Emotiva never sent anything to me without first getting my RMC back in their hands. I was also disappointed that again what I was told on the phone did not appear to translate to what actually transpired. Another trip UPS to pick up the third RMC.
Now I have the third RMC in my possession. I hooked it up and planned on watching some TV to unwind after a long and stressful week at work. During the first 45 minutes I thought I heard some very minor audio dropouts, but I couldn't be for certain since I was watching TV and not a more reliable source. I didn't pa much attention to it. But then came the first loud ding. Then another... and another. I was quickly reminded of rhale64's issue and knew exactly what it was. I leave tomorrow to travel for work this coming week. So I imagine I get to try and deal with this while traveling and then hope to get this wonky RMC sent back sometime late next week... have another hold placed on my credit card... wait for the wonky RMC to be delivered back to Emotiva... then wait for a replacement to ship back to me and pray that fourth unit doesn't have an issue.

Obviously these things happen and they will correct it with a new unit but honestly, I think they have done irreparable damage to their reputation as a company with this processor. I’m bewildered by those still placing orders for this; at least until things get resolved.
I too initially felt the same way about the discount I received when I made my purchase and felt invested to make things work. After a while however, it’s just better to cut your losses and move on. The company won’t miss you and life is a lot less stressful. With FW 1.4 imminent, this would be my litmus test of whether or not I chose to stick it out or find something else. It is a hobby after all.

It’s me again..red bar guy... the guy who had the subwoofer problem when playing a dsd file with older releases. Emotiva did work with me on the issue. A few users sent me emails asking if they did anything. The JL fathom sub needed a new driver and a new amp, the support staff said they’ve never seen a fathom v1 ever have such issues. Anyway, water under the bridge at this point.
I still have it, and my primary issues remain... hdmi switching, occasional lock ups requiring hard reboots, very sluggish remote response and the inability to watch directv without audio loss while changing channels or pausing. I tell my family to always hard reboot it before trying to use it, it seems to help with the lockups but not Hdmi switching or audio drops.
Anyway, just wanted to report that. And I wanted to say that deewan has an unbelievable amount of patience and has given them far more support and time than I can imagine anyone else ever doing. I sure hope they make it worth your while in the end.

That it hasn't makes me wonder how many dolby ic chipsets are in play here .. one bad unprogrammed batch ? Some clarification from Emo would certainly help ..

This is a reply from yesterday on the AVSForum from Dirac Research employee(Emotiva member screen name "Flak") addressing their software delay which is now over.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"With reference to our Facebook announcement of delays we are pleased to inform that the code has been completed so that it can be implemented by Emotiva and should not take long."

Can't rhwy just send you a custom firmware that includes the firmware for the decoder if that's the problem? I'm outside US and won't like something like this happen if I have to return the unit would be very difficult for me, I sent the discount card and expect to buy this unit next week. Not from the sounds of it. It's not a FW per se, but a licensing code that would need to be applied to the chip itself. The last instance this happened the RMC had to be exchanged. There are details back on pages 5 and 6 of this thread. This is very disappointing to hear, Emotiva really need to lift their game and check the products before being shipped out.

this remembers me a bit to old days, where there were Videos with Copy Protection, and songs, that had some sort of watermarks in it.
When I watch TV and quickly change channels - it also tries every time to sync sound - which is tricky, because each channel might have something else playing. Stereo, Surround etc.
Sometimes a little electronic "tic" sound is hearable - but this was also with my Pioneer - so nothing new to me.
With my Zidoo Z9S I played lots of movies - also with Atmos & HDR - all do play fine - nothing negative - and much better as the oppo203 with Playing over LAN. Will tray some movies from disk this weekend.
So the HDMI is still the biggest Issue for me - but Reboot for me was only needed, if I modified something in the setup.
In a daily usage my box is stable (the please wait screen is nerving).
The not working TRIM Function is on the Emo Buglist (at least they promised) - as this only happens with no Sub in use (5.0.4)
I only bought my oppo203 due to SACD and Dolby Vision Support. As most of the new arrived players do support DV as well - next step might be, to buy a dedicated SACD.
I really hope the next Firmware is eliminating all the known issues. Furthermore I don't think, that the nex FW is already having Dirac with it - due to the missing stability. (keep-fingers-crossed)
And I'm cuirous, if something in the hardware was changed, as I got one of the first RMC1 here in Europe, and it's more or less stable.
I find it interesting that Emotiva has started their pre order list for the XMC2 given all the unresolved issues that currently exist with the RMC1. Perhaps they are closer than we know to having a fully functional RMC1. Ehhhhhh, I'd hope Emotiva first figures out their quality check on the RMC-1 before starting to ship other processors. This is what my third RMC sounds like straight out of the box. 45 minutes old and I have the same dinging issue another member had. Every 60 seconds I get to enjoy the beautiful sound of the chime in fully balanced surround sound.

Wow deewan sorry to hear that you have the glorious dolby ding. It does sound glorious though doesn't it? It scared the crap out of me every time I heard it even though I realized it was coming again in about a minute. It's weird though that's when I realized how awesome it actually sounded. The ding was so freaking real sounding 😂

I an not from the US, I have been following this thread from the beginning and been very anxious to buy the RMC-1. I took the leap and got it about two weeks ago but I didn't get to watch a full movie, but this weekend I had the time because the wife was out of the house :-) I have a very simple setup. I only have a JVC DLA-X35 and a HTPC in a 5.1.0 setup, I watched these movies: Captive State(DTS-HD) Fast Five(DTS-X) Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom(DTS-X) Avengers Infinity War(Atmos) These movies are watched starting and stopping the movie multible times doing playback, I didn't have any sound issues at all. The only thing I experienced was if I turned off the projector while the RMC-1 was turned on, I had to push the input on the projector to get the RMC to lock on to the HDMI signal.

Is it 1080p oder 2160p you watch these movies? If 1080p, did you switch the Input for the HTPC to HDMI 1.4? The JVC for sure is 1080p (HDTV, or FullHD) only. So if you don't have an additional TV with UHD, you should switch both HDMI Ports to 1.4

Yes CEC is disabled. Yes the projector is set to HDMI 1.4 and running 1080p/24p. The HTPC is running 2.0 because that is needed to get Atmos/DTS-X, I am playing the movies with Kodi. No sorry its a dedicated theater so the projector is the only display, and I don´t have a UHD TV in the house I could try to connect.

(you use the latest 18.2?). Which Sound option do you have setup? WASAPI HDMI?

I'm running 17.6 witch I actually find strange because it is configured to update automatically. Yes WASAPI and passthrugh and all formats enabled.

Version 18 is much more stable with HDMI 2.0 Versions.

COMPARISON: RMC-1 vs. RMC-1L vs. XMC-2
Here's a spreadsheet (in PDF) comparing some of the major features of all three (and comparing them to the XMC-1).

Hi Keith
Missing one thing on the list - which version of Dirac will be delivered with each of them?
