Sounds like there are lots of problems with the MC 700 and now I am contemplating whether i should replace my Krell Showcase Pre-Processor (No HDMI) with it.

Sounds like there are lots of problems with the MC 700 and now I am contemplating whether i should replace my Krell Showcase Pre-Processor (No HDMI) with it. With the newest firmware 2.9.3 Beta it will show 4K video and working with my PS4 Pro with no problem. My problems are sometime i got HDCP droppouts when i start satbox or other devices so i need to restart them to get pitchure. When i switch channels on satbox and it goes from Pcm to DD, DTS etc i get one enoying sound in the speakers because of hdmi board so Emotiva recommend to use Spdif instead but only one input on MC700 so if using more the one Spdif to youre devices you can not resolve it. Otherwise it working fine with good sound and Manual setup is better then EMOQ in my mind. Emotiva also have drop the firmware updates on this unit and never comment if they will resolve any of this hdmi board problems.

I got mine at the reduced introductory price and I still have buyer's remorse. Don't want to beat a dead horse, but my biggest issues in no particular order are:
1. The noises when switching from 2-channel sources to multichannel and vice versa. A little jarring if you listen at reference levels and forget to turn the volume down. 2. Lack of adequate documentation.
3. Trouble with firmware updates. This is documented in several posts.
I haven't upgraded to 4k yet, so can't comment if that will introduce additional issues.
To be fair, the sound quality is better than the 10 year old Onkyo receiver it replaced, but the Onkyo just worked out of the box.

I'll put it this way, Tommy. I went back to an AVR doing my processing from the MC-700 - it was that bad. I went to a Denon AVR-X4200 - purchased from a forum member here. The SQ is better, the OSD is better, the switching is better, the firmware handling is better. Everything about that 4200 is better than the MC-700. The unit is the reason I won't buy anything Emotiva anymore outside of the power amplifiers.

I think i will just buy the outlaw audio Model 975 for cheap to get me by for a year or 2 until i can afford the Marantz AV7705. I really need HDMI connections otherwise I would wait.

Do the current versions have the latest firmware installed? Are they continuing to offer product support through firmware? Can they be upgraded to the HDMI 2.2 specifications? Is there a replacement product on the way?

Is there a replacement product on the way? -Don't know, you'd have to call. -Doubtful on firmware upgrades as those have stopped a long time ago, and it follows the same pattern that they went with for the 2 UMC's - get to a certain point and halt. -No on 2.2; that would require new hardware. -Probably - I say that because it depends on semantics. I doubt they'll continue with this platform any longer, but they have said they intend to come out with a $1k'ish processor based on the new RMC/XMC2 platform, but I doubt it will be available in 2019. Note, I'm guessing they aren't aware but the Amazon price for the MC is $100 less than the Emo website price. Both are too high for this processor.

-No on 2.2; that would require new hardware. Did the industry already scrap HDMI 2.1 ?

I have an MC 700 and am experiencing no adverse issues with it. I am not running 4K through it,so I have no video related issues. All aspects of the device work for what I am doing. The sound quality is very good IMO and from that point I have no complaints. I use it in a 5.1 system (90% 2.1 ch music) and for blue-ray movies, it does a great job. As is clear with Emotiva, they know little about writing good software for their devices (MC, XMC & RMC in particular). The OSD / UI is rudimentary at best and that combined with useless documentation means you have to "play" with it and have several CS calls to get the configurations you want working well. I agree with others on the statement about Emo being good for amplifiers and it pretty much ends there. The day I want to "upgrade" my pre-pro, I will not be looking to Emo for a solution.

Did a real manual ever come to fruition? I honestly don't know because I simply stopped following the official thread a long time ago.

Interesting...had one in my cart for a tentative pre-order on Friday and now it's "0" and the product is listed as "soldout"......meaning? Needing a new low profile processor to replace my UMC-1 for 3D and newer HDMI.

Yes, but in the case of this unit, when it first shipped, buyers were emphatically promised, by Dan himself, here on this forum, that they would soon receive a physical copy of the manual just as soon as it was available, which was supposed to be just a few months. It would appear that never happened, not just soon, but never. So, it would seem to be yet another broken promise made by Dan on the already long list of broken promises.

Don't regret returning it at all. Of course its all based on personal preference. UI was better but sound was mediocre at best to my ears.
