Have not updated the firmware, just got home. Playing my ERC-1 thru Balanced input (XLR) and no cutoff between cd tracks. Smooth transition.

Does the flash drive included with the welcome package have any special formatting needed for the firmware or can I use any linux formatted drive? I'm afraid to use the included drive in case it skips reading the first few bytes of the firmware Good one! 😄 I believe they recommend FAT32 formatting, I’ve also used ExFAT.

I am considering replacing my Marantz 7702mkII with a RMC-1L but the audio muting issue at the beginning of audio tracks has me concerned . I have not experienced this problem (either unpleasant noise between tracks or muting at the start of an audio track) with the 7702mkII with any source. Also still using my Marantz 7005 in a different room and have never experienced the problem. So it seems that there must be a solution out there. I have this issue when I jump around songs with my Sonos connect playing songs off spotify. It only happens if I jump around. If I play a playlist or Album it isn't an issue. Didn't have this issue playing cds however. Hope this info helps. I also went from a 7702mkii and the Emotiva sounds so much better. I have the Marantz still sitting on a shelf but will be selling it soon. Thanks for the input thxultra. Most of my music listening is full albums on Tidal, Qobuz or FLAC files on a network server all through a Bluesound Node 2i connected to the preamp via RCA. So perhaps this might not be a big issue for me.

Using my Sony DVP-S9000ES now.....optical 2 output. If I skip to the next track, the song starts right up. No delay.
The same when it goes to the next track normally....the song ends...silence for a second or so, then the next song starts without delay. In fact, the song starts when the counter says zero.
Small sample size. I’ll keep experimenting.

Only CDs that are authored using pure digital silence up to the downbeat will exploit the issue. Make sure you try several different CDs...

I moved on to the Node 2....harder to discern....I’m playing Radio Paradise.....coax digital out....the XMC-2 sounds wonderful.....even without Dirac! I’ll report back if I hear anything

I’ll try a digital input. That's not quite it. Your XLR cables are just the interconnects delivering the decoded audio after the dac. By digital source we mean the originating connection, whether your HDMI into the receiver or optical from whatever is playing your playlist or cd, or video. The XLR connection is delivering that signal after the fact with the bad decoded signal already built in, not causing it.

I will try different CDs when I get a chance.

So funny enough I finally get around to this and the included usb stick doesnt work. Reads no usb stick in both ports. Luckily one of mine appears to be working and update is in progress.

I’ve never tried the supplied stick as I have a dedicated one just for this purpose. I delete the earlier version from the thumb drive and then download the newest version.

Maybe try a bd with a 5.1 lpcm soundtrack if you have an early one to see if lpcm is fixed as well [ someone had issues iirc] Geronimo in the RMC1 thread has confirmed problems with uncompressed 5.1 lpcm of standard blurays still. Anyone tried a few like Con air or Apocalypto ? Curious as to how 24/96 5.1 dvd-a's go with the mlp codec as well ?

How long does this update take? Been stuck on "do not turn off updating firmware front panel" for 6 hours I had a "stuck" issue last night. I took the chance and turned the unit off with the back rocker switch. Waited a couple minutes, turned it back on....it rebooted and I then tried the update again and it worked.
