Don't worry, Dan will come on with another "Hi kids," post on switching and it'll all be good.

Yeah even at 13 seconds the switching does suck. I’m sure Emotiva has some reason, but at the end of the day Marantz etc don’t have those issues. Now is there a benefit that the Emotiva has that makes it need to longer switching time? If so I wish they would make that clear so you feel better about it.
At the end of the day the switching is really not a big deal to me since it’s rare that I switch back and forth between inputs.

And for those that find my fast switching requirement perhaps you don't hVE A ps4 PRO, Xbox one X and have grandkids that bounce between them! My life may have different requirements than yours, sorry!

Here's my use case. I use DirecTV, AppleTV, Roku, Verizon FiOS, an Oppo 4k player, and Roon all the time. And I'm always switching between them.
Worst is when I need to use an input that doesn't have a button assigned. This is a time where cycling through active inputs is required. I think it's so slow that I can make a batch of popcorn in the time it takes to cycle through the inputs.

I have been the proud owner of the original XMC-1. I have installed the V3 video board and latest firmware. Outside of the slow switching issues I think the worst problem is that about 50 percent of the time it has no sound after switching to an input. This results manual switching the inputs over and over to get sound to resume on the desired input. This issue is why I am currently waiting to upgrade to the XMC-2. Unfortunately this is a first come first serve basis to which I have missed the first 2 sessions of available units. I don't see why loyal customers should have to be put through this process. Obviously the new firmware for the old XMC-1 with the new V3 video board is a band-aid solution until XMC-1 until owners get their XMC-2. This is very frustrating and this firmware issue is unacceptable. I am pleading with Keith and Dan to please make XMC-2 upgrade more available to loyal customers like myself. The XMC-1 firmware issue has been a problem since the V3 board upgrade and I am tired of it.

I do have this audio drop out issue with my new XMC-2. Doesn't happen all the time. Emotiva is aware of it and I'm hoping for a firmware update. My solution that tends to work it to switch the audio input on the remote from Preset 1 to 2 and back. Switching channels may or may not work, but the audio preset tends to work all the time. So, upgrading to the XMC-2 may not solve this audio issue for you until Emotiva provides a firmware fix.

I've owned the XMC for several months and while I was impressed with the sound quality the inputs SUCK! It takes several seconds to change from one input to another AND the XBOX AND PS4 are REGULARLY not recognized which results IN NO PICTURE! Run everything through my TV and a SINGLE HDMI into the XMC and it all works FINE so the devices WORK! XMC SUCKS Just a follow up to what's been going on here...….. I'm also "DISSASTIFIED"......but not with Emotiva or many of the other companies that have been trying to keep up building processors and other HDMI incorporated devices that can be all things to all end users. There are REAL culprits here, but at the top of my list is DOLBY LABORATORIES. All of their formats and accolades that go along with them. They, and others are the "Pied Piper"......dancing down the road and playing their pipe with everybody chasing them down the road to who knows where. (whether it works right or not.....whether they "talk" to each other or not.....whether it's ready or not. So we follow innocently, and put up with all the problems (and we pay for them to fix too....right??) I'm somewhat lucky, I guess, in that I reached my satisfaction threshold a few years ago. So some of the newer stuff which is so problematic is no problem to me because I don't have it. Bill

The XMC-1 firmware issue has been a problem since the V3 board upgrade and I am tired of it. I switch between a Pace HD cable box, AppleTV4K and a Sony 4K BDP regularly without issue. The only issue is if I am unlucky enough to switch to the cable box when it is broadcasting a 480p, mono sound advertisement, then there can be a delay. That problem is not isolated to Emotiva processors, I have experienced it for example with a number of different brands of AVR’s whilst helping out with installs. Merry Xmas to All Gary

When navigating ATV (4K) menu or TiVo, the audio drops at random and only a reboot recovers audio. Very disappointing.

Try going back to 1.5. I know that sounds backwards, but for me 1.7 would not allow Video on Standby. 1.5 does. Give it a shot.

My video is pristine. Where would I get the 1.5? Emotiva website?

Hey where is the HEY KIDS post? More importantly where is the slow switching fix he promised in his last Hey kids post?

Hey where is the HEY KIDS post? More importantly where is the slow switching fix he promised in his last Hey kids post? We are all waiting patiently or not so patiently on new firmware. I am more concerned with dropped audio than switching speed, but I’ll take it.

I think Dirac is the top priority, then more fixes since it is pretty functional. Might not see a new firmware until Dirac comes out. I was just poking fun at classic Dan being Dan.
